I enjoyed the delicious Italian dishes and the excellent service at Ristorante Florida. The restaurant's outdoor seating is right next to the canal. The view is so beautiful. We have a hard time deciding which restaurants for lunch. There are five to six restaurants, all next to each other in front of the canal. They all look good. They all waved their hand at us. I finally decided to have lunch at Ristorante Florida, because they are less crowded. I am too busy taking pictures and did not check Yelp! I checked Yelp after we sat down and ordered a couple of bottles of wine and Prosecco. They don't have excellent reviews! OMG! Am I making a mistake in eating here? Fortunately, we proved they were good by using our stomachs. Lol! All nine of us love our dishes. The gentleman who is serving our serving our table is very attractive. We receive excellent service from him. I had a delicious meal and enjoyed the fantastic view of the canal at the same time. I don't think I could ask more. read more

Complete scam. !! Multiple hidden fees. They tried to charge a cover charge, a music charge, and a hefty tip. When confronting them, they tried to tell us we were wrong and we shouldn't complain. We also witnessed the waiter be very rude to the table next to us stating that they had to order food and not just drinks bc it wasn't a bar. He was rude and left the women unable to order. This restaurant is right on the main strip after you cross the Rialto bridge (if coming from San Marco side) and there is outdoor seating right by the water which they have decorated really nicely, it is a really touristy area and there is always a guy standing outside that tries to Lure people tonight dine there. If I am judging the food without having had tried anything else in Venice I probably would say it was average but compared to other restaurants we dined at, it does not come anywhere near any of the other places. But we did dine there fully knowing what to expect so we were actually able to appreciate the view from the outdoor seating and it is honestly refreshing! They do ask that if you are going to take one of the tables by the water- everyone needs to order their down dish and drink. We were there around lunch time and service was very scant- there was essentially one guys waiting al tables. We are a family of five and had high hopes for this dining experience. While the food was decent, the billing practices were nothing short of a scam. We were blatantly overcharged--€27 for a simple Margherita pizza--and hit with two service charges: one on the initial receipt and another sneakily added at payment. When questioned, the waiter (appeared to be of Indian descent) firmly insisted that the pizza was indeed €27, despite how absurd that price is for such a basic dish. In total, we were charged €161.70 for 4 pasta dishes, 2 still water and 1 Margherita pizza. Let that sink in. We chose not to escalate the situation on the spot out of respect for our family outing, but this kind of dishonest behavior needs to be called out. He seemed very annoyed and said we should just order a whole bottle. That was too much for me, so I ordered two glasses of white wine instead. Husband & I came here on a whim. He got the Alfredo with ham and I got pasta with mushrooms. Both were amazing!!! The place next door tried really hard to get us bit we were determined for here. I'm not sorry in the least. We had some rosè wine first. Sat by the water and enjoyed the view. The waiters were very sweet and quick. A quick note, be careful on which oil you use. This is the first time I gave a restaurant one star. The location of this restaurant is very good, but the owner and waiters are terrible. They brought the wrong dish and just said that the chef had changed and the dish was not available anymore. And the bill was not given with a real receipt and price. It's also different from the menu. They also directly charged a 12% service fee, which they told me was tax. This is a tourist trap restaurant . In fact, you can go to the police to deal with it, but I still want everyone to know to avoid being deceived and stepped on! read more

Do not fall for this tourist trap!!! We sat for a night cap. They handed us a menu, but sent over a wine manager to give recommendations. Without seeing a menu, we accepted wine recommendations and ordered drinks. When the bill came, there was a €15 charge for listening to music and 16% gratuity added (to a party of 4). This added 75% to our total tab. There was fine print on the menu saying that the fees would be added but not mentioned while seating, taking orders or any other time. It was clear they attempted to keep it secret. Wine and atmosphere was fine but the swindler tactic was much more obvious than the hidden costs. €10.5/glass wine ended up being €18.75 after the hidden fees. Not worth it. read more

The view from the outdoor seating is incredible and the service is amazing. the food is so good. my family ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was by far the best calamari I have ever had. Ok, so perhaps this isn't the BEST Italian food in Venice. But considering the tourist trap it is located within, its food is pretty solid. The view was almost worth it. My general rule about finding a place to eat when traveling is to avoid restaurants directly in the midst of tourist attractions. It doesn't get much better than this for people watching, both those on land, and on the canal. Our food, on the other hand, was disappointing. The menu was quite limited. Our linguine rage was overcooked, watery and overly salty. My gin and tonic was flat. On top of it all, out waiter, who was a bit abrupt, disappeared about 30 minutes into lunch, and couldn't be located, even by his co-workers. As we were walking along the Grand Canal, we came across this restaurant with outdoor seating and decided to eat here. This restaurant has restrooms that you can use if you dine here. The service is mediocre, but I wasn't expecting much since its Venice, and they probably want everyone to relax as well. I ended up getting a Margherita pizza, but there are other vegetarian options here as well. The pizza was good, but not exceptional as I had eaten in Rome and Florence. The cappuccino was good. So much so that every bite he had oozed red oil from the tip of his slice. The service is non-existent. Don't eat here. We went here last Saturday September 3rd. We had just gotten to Venice so it was our very first meal. Food was ok, a little pricey though. The check comes and a service charge is already included which I knew going in. As a courtesy to the waiter, I acknowledged the service charge (tip) already being included. He lied through his teeth to me and told me that was a tax, and not a tip. Even though my instincts told me he was wrong, I tipped on top of that (even though it is not expected/required). If this would not have been my first meal in Venice, I would have called the waiter out as a liar, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It's really not the money as it was about the same overall tip I normally give in the US. It's the predatory nature and deception that is a huge turn off. Again, do not eat here. read more
