First, a summary of how I came up with my rating: Pharmacy: 5 stars Store: 2.5 stars Ice cream: 4 stars Overall: 3.8 rounded up to 4 stars And now my full review. Rite Aid Camarillo is located in the Camarillo Village Square shopping center on Los Posas Road next to Sprouts and Planet Fitness. They have been my pharmacy for over 20 years and they have been absolutely great for all my prescriptions. The pharmacists and associates have always been very friendly and helpful, particularly with explaining how to take new medications. And whenever there's a problem with a prescription it just takes minutes to get it resolved. And it's also my go-to place to get vaccinations. Unfortunately, the store part of Rite Aid is a very different story. While there been some improvements since they emerged from Chapter 11 in September 2024 they are still frequently out of stock of many items. Basically, unless I'm at a nearby store or at Rite Aid for another reason I don't shop there. However, if I do see something I want or need in stock I will buy it since their prices are normally pretty good. Finally, I have loved Thrifty ice cream since I was a little kid. I particularly love their Chocolate Malted Krunch ice cream. And while their ice cream is normally for takeout they do have two small tables if you want to eat it there. In sum, I highly recommend Rite Aid Camarillo for their pharmacy and ice cream but suggest to only shop there for other items if you're already there or nearby. read more

Sad. It was great to get a new Rite Aid, and it was fine that it was a smaller store. But everytime I go there the shelves are empty. More often than not something I need isn't available, or selection is low. It's at the point I will drive to another store rather than go here which is closer to my home since I can not depend they will have what I need. Such good ice cream! I think we can all agree on that! Woot Woot! One of the employees there named Kim, stands out from the rest... she is super friendly and you can tell she strives to bring good costumer service to the table. She genuinely wants wants to make your visit there a positive experience. I know from tons of visits to the store, but also because I complimented her and she told me how much good customer care means to her. I am also always impressed with the pharmacy staff at this location. Very friendly and punctual. They make sure you receive the quality health care that Rite Aid pushes for. The technicians know what they are doing - they even make sure the line stays back - so you can get personal space and privacy you should be allotted. Marlieghn the manager here helped my fiancé over the phone with his prescriptions, something we were very anxious about as he's needs anti rejection drugs every day without fail. When we came in to pick it up this insane man was screaming at her and causing a huge scene. It was really hard to watch as he had a total temper tantrum in front of everyone, and was trying his best to belittle and berate Marlieghn. However she kept her composure, was so professional and honestly she impressed me with her conduct. I learned a lesson from her by watching her handle this psycho. I will 100% come back here and do business with her as she knows how to help all people, even the crazies! read more

The new store is lovely, and the staff was wonderfully accommodating, but this is about my experience with the a pharmacist, Dr. Tamer Riyad, who was extremely kind and informative. He made me feel like I was with a private practice doctor instead of with a chain clinic. He relieved my anxiety with pleasant conversation while being very efficient. If you like a pharmacy that will pull your chain and give you excuses that make no sense and above all horrible customer service then this is the place for you. these folks will tell you that they cannot fill your prescription for 30 days and when you come back after 30 days they tell you that they're out of stock and will have to order it even though the prescriptions are filed from your doctor electronically a week previously. So if you are a person who uses a computer or a calendar to stay organized these folks don't understand how to use either to provide you with your meds , and you will be coming back multiple times for the same order! read more

The store and pharmacy staff are great; but, the pharmacists themselves are short and act like helping customers with issues is a bother or beneath them--as one pharmacist stated to my wife, with me in the background, "I am too swamped to bother helping you with your problem, you call them." I don't know why I still go to this store. It's so bad and it gets worse every day. They consistently staff the fewest number of people possible. GOOD LUCK finding anyone to help you find anything. There's always a line and a wait at the pharmacy even though there's hardly any one in the store. So people must use it for prescriptions but little else. Finally, the selection blows! Several times something I used to get has mysteriously disappeared. Lame, lame, lame. It is a sad and dingy store that never even bothered to put conveyor belts in the checkout so you practically have to hand each item to the checker. And yeah, it's expensive. Nice. read more

I like this store!!!! Why do so many people hate it??? I've been coming here since it was Pay-less Drugstore. There are workers in here that have been here for so long and they all remember the regulars. The only problem I have is with the manager (the tall black man) and one of the cashiers (long dark haird boy with a pony tail). They both seem like they are 'too good' to be working there and are limited on how they can help you. Other than that there are VERY nice ladies who work here and are willing to help. I will agree with some people, that there is a line...but oh well...so you had to wait an extra 4 minutes... I do not get my prescriptions here (I go to kaiser), but a few times that I've had to go to the pharmacy they've always been helpful. Now I don't normally like to review convenience stores, however, based on the great experience I had yesterday I just had to leave a review for the wonderful lady working last night! My boyfriend and I came here to pick up some of their FAMOUS THRIFTY'S ICE CREAM. When we arrived there appeared to be no other customers apart from us and another man who was paying. We waited at the ice cream kiosk for a minute before a middle aged women kindly greeted us and informed us that we will be helped shortly. The same lady who rang up the man came to help us out. We specially came to this location because they have the rare ice cream flavor of ANIMAL COOKIES, which is AMAZING! I know a job at Rite Aid might not be the best, but I especially love it when people are so passionate and positive at these places. I didn't get her name, but the young Hispanic female (cashier # 57750027) working was so knowledgeable about the ice cream with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. She answered all our questions and even informed us that the animal cookie ice flavor is only available at certain locations. She made our simple experience at Rite Aid so delightful! I dropped off a Rx for my father upon his discharge from the hospital. I came today to pick it up. The girl that assisted me was very pleasant. I didn't get her name but my receipt says cashier #57752321. It's a new medication for him so she called the pharmacist. He asked if I had taken it before. I said it's for my dad. I said "it's just an antibiotic so nothing I should really have to worry about right?" He said he couldn't tell me due to privacy laws what?! I have been a nurse for 10 years and I am well versed in HIPPA. I am picking up the med with no issue, I clearly know what the med is, why can't he tell me if there is anything to look out for or any side effects to watch out for? That's general info which therefore does not fall within HIPPA. He said I could have my dad call. I advised him he is in his 70's and they have the Rx to see he just got out of the hospital. So, apparently if I can't prove that I'm his Care giver, he won't tell me anything regarding the medicine. Do children of elderly parents get some care giver ID card I'm unaware of? Is there an association I can join to prove this? The pharmacist was very rude and condescending. I use CVS in Target and I LOVE the friendly staff there. I do not recommend Rite Aide pharmacy. read more

Rite-Aid, how I loathe thee. Since you're the closet pharmacy to my house I choose you. If there was someone on the street corner selling the medications you do, I would rather go to them. Not once, not twice, but more than three times have I dropped off a prescription that was supposed to be filled "within a couple of hours" did it turn into a couple of days, sometimes, three, sometimes four. Good thing I know the rule here and get refills before I run out, because if I really needed it quickly, you would be the last place on Earth to go. Please work on the timing of refilling your prescriptions, maybe I'll change the one star. read more

Pharmacy is NOT customer focused. Some nice folks, but their system for following up with people s*cks. Just this week I called in a prescription. 4 days later this morning I left a message asking for status. No calls. I call this evening and tell me it was denied by my doctor. They said "someone" should have called me. Two weeks ago I went to pick up a prescription and one of my meds wasn't ready. They said "someone" should have called me since it wouldn't be in on the following Monday. Happens around 2 or 3 times a year. Sooo frustrating. "Someone" should be fired. So many choices, gonna look at moving my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

I was just in here with my friend (December 17th 2019). We were walking around looking through the nail polish sections and couldn't find a nail polish. note: WE NEVER EVEN PICKED UP A POLISH. After leaving the store we're followed out by one of the workers (woman with high bun) and she's screaming at us asking if we're going to return whatever we stole. We were so confused and asked her what she was talking about. She responded with "i saw you pick up one of the nail polishes and walk out. were checking the cameras." THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Just had the most upsetting Thrifty experience ever. First of all, the woman working wouldn't let us split our pint between 2 flavors which they always do for us. Then, I was so excited for my cookie dough ice cream and she tells me they're out... Even though I can clearly see plenty of ice cream for one scoop in there. So upsetting. I like this store! Yes, the lines can be long, but not so bad that I refuse to shop here. I also use the pharmacy and have never had a problem. In fact, I find the pharmacy employees to be quite friendly. When I had to have my husband pick up some medicines for me after surgery, he didn't know where to look. I love the Thrifty's ice cream and I would give 5 stars for the ice cream alone but a lot of times they say they've ran out of flavors or they take forever to help you. In the actual store area if you have to buy anything else there is usually a line of at least 2-3 people that have been standing there a while with one very slow checker. So most of the time don't expect to just walk in and out. I still keep going because I like the ice cream. read more

I am visiting Camarillo from San Luis Obispo County. Stop by rite aid pharmacy to drop off a prescription while I was out of town. This was around 7 pm on a Wednesday The lady at the counter took my RX and showed it to the Pharmacist and came right back to me and said we are out of stock. I said really wow! And started to walk away. Then I turned around and went back to the counter and said will you have them tomorrow. I will be in town all weekend. She then pointed to the pharmacist and said you have to talk to him. The pharmacist said no we won't have any they have to order it and the weekend is coming up and we won't be able to fill it. I asked if there was another pharmacy in town they told me CVS down the street. I went to CVS and explained that I was out of town and would like to fill my RX she explained to me that they will have to verify this RX and won't be able to fill it until tomorrow. I asked why she said because they are narcotics. I said ok no problem. I also asked if these were common drugs she said yes very common. I told her that rite aid said they were out of stock and she gave a smirk and said we will fill it after it's verified. I said thank you. I'm glad that they explained there policy and didn't lie and dismiss me like the staff at rite aid. read more

I'm frankly shocked at the reviews this store has gotten. I lived in Camarillo for 5 years, before returning to LA nearly a year ago. I went through several pharmacies in LA near my new home, including other Rite Aids. Even tried Pavillions, Target, Costco - you name it. I can say unequivocally that the pharmacy staff at the Camarillo Rite Aid is BY FAR (NOT EVEN CLOSE) the best group I've ever dealt, in terms of professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency. I have tons of horror stories about other pharmacy experiences in LA. I now make a monthly 3 hour round trip back to this pharmacy to fill my prescriptions. I've learned my lesson; I'll never go anywhere else to get my scrips filled. read more
