Merlin's Medical Supply 2 weeks ago I broke my leg and have been in the leg brace ever since. The orthopedic surgeon recommended that I get a special bandage to bandage my leg with, as it is healing. I made the colossal error of going to Merlin Medical Ssupply Friday at 5:20 PM. If you notice on the attached picture the Monday - Friday Store Hours are till 5:30 PM. I pulled up in front of the store and parked (legally) in the handicap spot at exactly 5:20 PM. Got out of the car, on my crutches and was met by some bearded (goat looking type) of person with keys in his hand and said, "I just closed. I locked up". I said I had a broken leg and I needed this bandage and he said, "I set the alarm, NO". How rude can you be? How customer unfriendly can you be. I needed a rental motorized wheelchair for my mom's evaluation. I was lucky to find what I needed at Merlin Medical Supply. I decided to go into the store and get a quote on it. The staff there is friendly. I was helped by Isaac he gave me a quote and answered all of my questions. I made the arrangements a month or so later over the phone. The person over the phone was friendly as well. She took my information and it was done. The cost was well worth it! The delivery and pick up of the motorized wheelchair went very well. I love the quality service and useful information Isaac and Jack have. The service was amazing. I do not hesitate to recommend Merlin Medical Supply. I needed a new power wheelchair. I found what I wanted on their website, ordered it and it was delivered to my apartment ready to use in just a few days. They took away my old one and only charged me the price of the wheelchair itself even though they did white glove delivery and took away the old chair. After using it a day or so I needed a little extra help and Jack came to my apartment right after I called and did the work for no extra charge. My wife broke her leg. Once she was discharged from the hospital, we wanted an electric hospital bed to help her transition back to normal. I called Merlin the about 9:00AM and they were able to have a bed delivered about 11:00AM the same day. We kept the bed for two weeks and called to have it picked up. For those of you who do not know the original Merlin owner Paul Dwork has sold. I bought a wheelchair from the new owners recently and the attitude of "Jack" toward me left me determined to never do business with them again. First, as I was getting acquainted with the chair I asked "jack" if the footrest could be adjusted. His answer was an emphatic NO. Later after I had taken delivery of the chair I read the manual and discovered an entire section on comfort controls including the footrest. When I telephoned Merlin to ask that the chair be adjusted to my comfort (this was within two days of taking the chair) "Jack" told me that if I was not available when they wanted to send someone they would charge me with a service call. When I told "Oscar" this he said to me "I find hat hard to believe." They did send someone to make adjustments but the chair is still not suited for me. I will not deal with "jack" or "Oscar" again and will go to another company for my mobility needs. I should note that Paul Dworkr who I knew and who my husband Bob Humphreys was friends with (went to his magic shows, etc) would have treated me professionally and without the the hostile attitude of "Jack" and "Oscar. read more

Popped in here this morning. I spoke with a gentleman, I don't remember his name, immediately when I walked in. I gave him the script the doctor had provided for my mother. He quickly grabbed the item. He educated me to help better understand how it should be used. My surgeon suggested I rent an adjustable hospital bed or recliner chair for the first month of my recovery. I went with an electric hospital bed from Merlin's. At Merlin's, one short woman manager sets the uncaring behavior of the staff. She is more concerned about keeping wheelchairs, for example, folded and lined up then allowing customers to experience the options such as proper size, comfort, drop arm or not, weight, ease of transport, etc. (who wants to spend $300 to $900 without considering options)? My easy-going husband expressed these same rude issues he experienced at Merlin's months ago. Merlin may believe they have a monopoly in the Camarillo area. We strongly suggest driving to another Medical store, even if miles away, or shopping online rather than being subjected to these rude people. read more

The owner at this location was outrageously rude to me over 12 years ago, right after I moved to Camarillo. I ended up staying here and have never gone back to this store for all of my durable medical equipment needs (I have at minimum a monthly order they could have supplied me with had he shown kindness to me.) They had received my fax from my doctors office and they told me that they would not approve my equipment because I previously had a work comp case for the same thing, and I told them that's not true. I said I never had a Worker's Comp. with anyone. I told her that my insurance company would cover it and she told me no they won't and to leave their store. No explanation, just to leave! But I needed to find some cool magic tricks that were simple for kids to perform and this place was close to where I was. Decided to stop by and explore. Ya know, do that yelp thing. Well, first off, the store front doesn't face the street, it faces due south. So, if you don't know where its at, you might miss the red lettering facing Mobil Ave. if you're traveling south on it. You'll see it's in the first building right by Lombardo's & MS Acupuncture. I saw it after making a U-turn and making a second attempt at finding it. When you first enter all you see is medical supplies. Okaaay, maybe Merlin's Science & Magic refers to doctors of King Arthur's time rather than practitioners of the slight of hand. Must've looked confused because the cashier immediately offered help then pointed to the far corner of the shop. Ah, there it is! Yes they do sell magic material here! Bunch of tricks and videos, as well books for amateur magicians. After a few minutes, the cashier came by & showed some tricks and gave some insight. They were rude, racist, and insinuated I was trying to commit insurance fraud. Then their staff was feigning shock when I, in extreme distress, was upset and offended by their insinuation about what my nose fracture had to do with a a wrist splint. Clearly, the doctor put the wrong reasons down. BTW I was in an accident the day before where I suffered both a nose and wrist fracture, concussion, had 3M glue stitches on my face and several other bruises and abrasions simply because I took the wrong step. If you can imagine I don't look or feel my best. Instead of greeting me with kindness and compassion and trying to get me what u needed so I could get home and rest and be on the mend, they looked at me, my insurance and my niece (who was my driver and is mixed ethnically) and made a judgment that I was trying to commit fraud. The clerk kept repeating over and over 'I just don't understand what your nose has to do with your wrist'. They should've approached that situation with empathy and respect and noticed the clear error on the part of my doctor and simply explained they needed more time to resolve the issue and if I would be willing to wait. Then the manager (I assume), came over and tried to act like he was doing me a huge favor of letting it go through as is. I was exasperated and angered by this this point, I advised him while that was good he let it through he needed to train his employees not to harass patients. it shouldn't be my job or a shock to adopt a patient first customer service policy. I came here on the recommendation of the pa at my doctors office and I will be letting them know as all of you not to go there ever. read more

I am surprised by all of the negative reviews on this site. We have been using Merlin's for over 20 years. We started there when my dad was dx'd with ALS. We had horrible problems with the insurance that my parents had regrettably signed their Medicare over to. Paul was able to advise us what that insurance company had to cover based upon what Medicare covers. He walked us through all of the steps and helped us access a number of items. We have since been back for my mother who has needed a variety of DME from walkers to lift chairs. Merlin's requires that you pay upfront and then they submit the Medicare paperwork for you. We have found this is true for all DME companies in our area. The difference is that Merlin's is the only company we've found that has such a large selection and allows us to either walk the item out the door or have it delivered. We purchased a lift chair from them on a Friday a few months ago and they did a rush delivery that same morning so that my mom would haver her chair that same day. Each time we've purchased something that Medicare covers, my mother has received her reimbursement without issue when Merlin's has handled the process for us. We find this to be a well stocked, very professional company and will continue to use them for DME needs. read more

I will never go back!!! A few of the staff members are nice, but the older gentleman that works there, i think the owner, is rude and a jerk!! I took my recently blind, 88 year old, grandmother in to find a wheelchair that would better suit her. We asked if they had a certain color and he responded with "Why she can't see it anyway." Whether that is true or not you do not say that to anyone. This was the second comment that he has made to me about her not being able to see.
