Prescriptions not ready when they say they are going to be filled. Huge line. And their shelves are always empty.

Zero stars if I could. 5 days after receiving my prescription it still isn't filled. They promised me it would be done yesterday, but they always lie like this. I called this afternoon to let them know I would have transportation to get there about 2 hours after I was calling, and the woman interrupted me and would not let me finish speaking. She told me she was too busy to speak to me and hung up. I was in shock. 4 hours later I called again (after I no longer have a ride to pick up my meds), and it's still not filled. The same woman tried to hang up on me again. I am disabled and was hoping to get my meds earlier, and was treated SO RUDELY on the phone, and now I have to arrange for help to pick them up again...5 days after the prescription was sent to them. How is this pharmacy still in business?? I keep hearing stories about medication errors that are happening here. It's just a matter of time before they kill somone. The last time I had something filled here it took 10 days. read more

I can't say enough negative about this pharmacy. Always short staffed, which causes them to be closed for breaks and lunch. Maybe hire another person?? Am I wrong here? Overpriced in comparison to other pharmacies. Always a minimum wait of 30 minutes when they're working. Meds are overpriced. You're better off going to Oak Harbor or Mukilteo. Don't ask for prescription transfers from rite aid online. It never works and is a waste of time. I had to have two prescriptions transferred, I called to check the status cause no one called me, I was told it never works so I verbally requested the transfer, no call so I call back to see and they haven't heard from the pharmacy so now I have to call the pharmacy to find it. I'm a pharmacist and I would never have treated a patient like an employee. Terrible. read more

Pharmacy is very good...you just have to go at non peak hours to avoid lines ...like on Sunday afternoon NFL game time, or after dinner weekdays. Staff is friendly and competent. read more

This pharmacy gets a really bad rap... But i think a lot of the delays and long lines have to do more with the customers than with the staff. I have been coming to this location at least once a month for rx for over three years and I have noticed that when someone gets to the front of the line I can tell if they have taken a very important step to help both the staff and the other customers ahead of them... CALLING AHEAD! I ALWAYs call ahead and check to see a.) if they have received my prescription from my doctor and b.) when it might be ready "please and thank you" ( goes a long way if just for human decency!) They will tell me if it won't be ready that day. And guess what?! If it won't be i don't go and have to wait in line!!! AMAZING. What's even more amazing is that IF YOU SIGN uP for mobile check out... THEY WILL TEXT YOU THE MOMENT ITS READY. But the people that are really making the line long show up without doing any of those steps, presents the poor staff member (who has served a bazillion people since their 30 min break ended an hour ago) with 10 minutes of questions (that could have been answered with a simple google search or a call ahead) and then complain that their prescriptions aren't ready and that they have to get back in line. So wake up Freeland! The staff rocks and we can help them by doing a little extra preparation before showing up and also by NOT taking out our frustrations on hard working members of our OWN COMMUNITY! This store's shelves have been close to empty for a month or more. Basics are not in stock after repeated visits to the store. It's a very strange experience trying to shop there lately. There has been no official explanation for this: no signs at the store, no news or social media announcement and differing messages from the staff. Naturally, the locals are talking about this and making speculations as to the cause. I've been forced to turn to Amazon for simple things like a skin lotion we like at home, although I prefer to shop locally Today I mentioned to my cashier there that they must be losing business and that it must be hard on the employees. The cashier next to her then erupted at me, asking me why I'd say that. I gestured to the empty shelves and she pretty much shouted at me that the reason was that their Rite Aid warehouse had been deemed unsafe and had been shut down. She mentioned that people thought they were closing (gotta say, it looks like they are) and seemed exasperated that I'd dared mention the issue. I was shaken up by her tone of voice but thanked her for the info and suggested that a sign to that effect might be helpful. She responded that "People around here don't read signs!". Around Whidbey, they don't read signs? Well, I think they do. I, for one, certainly read signs and I post reviews, too. I actually think that their customer base has been pretty darn supportive of the store during the whatever it is that's going on there. The Rite Aid employees seem stressed. I think their customers deserve an explanation for the problems they are seeing with their own eyes and it's not coming from management. This isn't the first time I've seen staff there behave angrily and unprofessionally to customers, which is sad and frustrating given that this drugstore is pretty much the only game in town. read more

I would give this store a zero if I could. Always long lines to get scripts . Currently 10 in front of me. Usually after waiting you are told to come back in half hour as your script that they received this morning still isn't ready at 4pm. read more

And they never start your prescription until you call and ask about it, only to hear "Oh, yes, we have it here and are working on it. It will be available late this afternoon" EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! This place is HORRIBLE! The pharmacy doesn't have your prescription filled 50% of the time, even if they've received the order several days ahead of time. You only find this out after you've stood in line for 15+ minutes. You are told to come back and that you won't need to stand in line again. When you come back and go up to the counter, you have other customers accusing you of cutting in line and the cashier doesn't back you up, so you have to defend yourself. I asked to speak to the manager of the store and he acted like he could give a rats ass about my experience. read more

Worst service from any business I have gone to in my life. And nothing but excuses about why it is not their fault. They will never even try to fix their issues, of which there are several. The worst part of having to deal with them is having to wait in lines that take forever, even if there aren't many people in line. You just know that you are going to have to wait. Then, when you finally get yo the counter, you will be lucky to find out that your prescription is in fact filled and ready. When it isn't, which is half of the time, you can't speak to or complain to anyone because they are not available. They don't answer phones so you have to go to their web site, which gets you no help at all. So, we transferred a prescription last month and it was a huge hassle and we were out of meds for three days because it took 7 days to transfer. So I decided to transfer another prescription early so the would be able to get this done before we ran out. I told them that we didn't need the prescription filled. We were just being proactive. I just called to get a refill and they said they had canceled the prescription and we needed to get a new prescription from our doctor. What??? When I transferred the prescription there so it would be ready for next prescription, they refilled right away. When you don't pick up they cancel prescription. Bummer that we will have to go off island for meds but I think we will be happier not doing business at rite aid read more

Why is it whenever I go into Rite Aid I get the feeling I more of a bother than a customer. I have no problem with the pharmacy, but why do they not train the checkers???? What's wrong with the Manager??? Seldom is there a smile and their body language is one of "what do you want."? The personnel remind me of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld. I was next in line waiting to pay for a $2.00 envelope when the person ahead of me bought a $100.00 worth of various baby items. As the line grew I kept looking for another checker. Didn't happen. Stopped by the Freeland Rite Aid to drop off a prescription. There is a BIG sign above the pharmacy where prescriptions are to be dropped off. At that drop off window, another small sign says to go to the counter. There was a line of seven people at the counter. I asked if I could just drop off my prescription and go to Payless for groceries. Nope. I was curtly told I must stand in line to drop off my prescription. Nope, I didn't stand in line. I left this store...for good. I don't need to deal with stores where the employees are on a power trip and customer service doesn't exist. Rite Aid = No Aid. There are other options to get your meds. I'd suggest using one of those options. Also, surprised Payless hasn't opened a pharmacy. read more

Went to check out this morning, about 10:30 am...just me in line, but the clerk was not going to hurry...she was going to finish her candy project out front. When she did start to check me out she just put the items in the bag and said...""if you people want to use your discount you will have to put your phone number in first!"...I said I wanted it...she said then you're going to have to start over,which I did. Worst pharmacy ever. There's always a huge line from the pharmacy to the front of the store and it seems like there's an hour minimum wait time. I waited once in the line and by the time I got to the front, they said they didn't have my prescription, even though my doctor had just filled it the day before. I had my doctor switch my prescriptions over to Island Drug in Clinton and it was SO much better. Island Drug called me when my prescription was ready and they have a drive-thru so I got my prescriptions immediately instead of waiting all day. read more

After telling me that they received no faxes for my refill, had them sent multiple times, they magically "found" the faxes they kept telling me they never received. I'd been told by them on the phone that my prescription was ready today. When I arrived, they lectured me, saying "we load many prescriptions in our system every morning and it takes time... Pharmacy is the worst! Every time I call in a prescription, it's never ready. Typically, I find out only after waiting in line an average of 20 minutes. Last time, a 40-minute wait with same result. When our local drug store was sold to Rite Aid it was a sad day.... We tried to stick it out, but after several months of issues we gave up. OCT 12, 2O18 RX MGR TOM has the system running at peak performance! 80 -90% are seniors or disabled. A employees from the other side. Everyone is in a me first mode ! Well try that line at the ferry! two hour wait for a 14 minutes trip over to the island. Also realize there is a heavy wave every 14 minutes between 3pm and 7pm. Ask how you can improve getting your script at a specific time or call 360 331 4700! When you raise your voice they probably slow down since they have been humiliated because you are late! i go in between 8am and 2pm or after 7pm. you will be much happier if you make plans and include others of your plan. The store is under different MGT! The employees are locals so be nice! We all see each other next door or at the hardware store, church or on the ferry. i chat with the employees and other customers,,,we make our own happiness. smile be happy. read more

Well I would have said that it's S L O W for prescriptions but it has seemed to improve somewhat. I love the fact that i can shop for other things like makeup and hair products here cheaper than the previous Pharmacy that was located here. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever experienced. If I could give it a minus number, I'd give it a minus 10. I've been using this Rite Aid Pharmacy for about 8 months - only because it is the sole pharmacy in South Whidbey Island. Customer service is horrible; I have frequently had to stand in line for 45 minutes or more; no one picks up the phone when I try to call; I've had to wait a week or more for crucial medications to be filled, though they were submitted by the doctor on time; I've been lied to, told that my doctor had not submitted a prescription when the doctor's records showed clearly that my doctor had submitted it; I've been told - repeatedly! - that a prescription would be ready on a certain date, only to be informed, after that 45 minute wait in line, that the prescription was not ready, but if I wanted to wait another hour, the pharmacy could have it ready. I have spoken to the Rite Aid store manager, who just shrugged as if to say, "Too bad, " and I've spoken to the Rite Aid store manager, who informed me that the store and the pharmacy are different entities, and that the store has no jurisdiction over the pharmacy. What, then, can I do? I'm told that my only recourse is to somehow contact the corporate offices, but the manager has no idea how I might do this. South Whidbey Island has a significant elder population, and I am often standing in line with people in walkers, wheelchairs, canes - frail people who certainly should not be forced to stand for long periods of time, especially during a pandemic! I'm going to seek mail order prescriptions, and urge you to avoid this pharmacy entirely if you can. read more

I think the pharmacy at Rite Aid is Great! I call ahead to see if my prescriptions are ready, and they are almost always are with in a few minutes. I had to change my prescriptions from my pharmacy in Seattle and the pharmacist had them all sent here, without me having to do anything. Thanks Rite Aid! read more

I work in a health care facility, and have been in the healthcare service for 20 plus years. I have never been treated so poorly by the pharmaceutical staff. I was doing a favor for my mother by dropping off her prescription who is basically house bound. When I approached, the lady who was working the desk was immediately unfriendly. I said I'm just dropping this off for my mom. She immediately looked at it and said ID please, no hello, no how is your day. I asked why? It's my mom's prescription who will be showing you her ID when she picks it up. Needless to say the interrogation began with it's a narcotic. I said I know, which is why it's printed on tamper resistant paper which is law now. We still need your ID, and I said why? It's not my prescription. Again it's a narcotic. I said never mind. I took back the prescription and told them that I have never had this happen at any other pharmacy because you are going to be getting the ID of the person who will be picking it up. I mean the only thing missing was a chair with straps, and her shining a flash light in my face. You know, I probably wouldn't have minded so much if she was remotely pleasant, but the negative attitude, the lack of welcome, the lack of a smile, well it just set the tone of the whole conversation. Besides. This place is so outrageously expensive compared to other pharmacies on island, and with better customer service. I'd pay for the extra car gas, wait an extra 10 - 20 minutes before dealing with her again. read more
