This pharmacy is the worst I've ever been to. Made me wait for over an hour and didn't even give my insurance card back

I have never been more pleased with the opening of a business than this wonderful,…read moreindependently-owned pharmacy. The owners there are always available to help, answer questions, and counsel on your prescriptions. My prescriptions are always ready so quickly and many are on auto-refill, which helps since I have so many to try and keep up with. Once, I had called for a refill ahead of time and then something came up and I was unable to go and pick it up right away. Later that evening, I received a call from them, before they closed shop, as they wanted to be sure I was going to be okay over the weekend without that refill. Another time, I was prescribed a glucose meter that had me in fits trying to learn how it worked. Linda sat down with me (yes, they even having comfy chairs to sit in, and refreshments, if you do need to wait for anything) and together we figured it out and I was able to take the meter back home with confidence. I have told my friends about Brooklin Oaks, with its attention to customer service and friendly appeal, and they have all reported back with pleasure. We live in a world taken over by megastores and chains, and with a pharmacy it is often difficult to stand in a long line to wait to get your prescription when you don't feel well. Here, there are no long lines and no hurry to be moved along if you need extra help. We are lucky to have this pharmacy in our town. It is the kind of service that you would think is long gone in these times, yet they are consistently amazing in their ability to help with anything you have in prescription needs.

it's too late to improve anything now, but the pharmacy appeared to work well enough in 2024 and…read moreearlier this year. Perhaps more clients transferred out to another making it less daunting for pharmacy staff to refill meds timely and avoid whatever it is that makes a technician decide they can keep your daily meds from you even though 28 days is not "refill too early" per law. Last month they appeared to lose my doctor's rx and said there were no refills which left when I see her every other month. Then they said she didn't include a diagnosis code. None of these meds are new for me. It was resolved, so I let it go. But not without a lot of contacting both parties and they have gotten me in trouble with my doctor before for a similar issue. Losing an rx is suspicious even though it's out of patients' hands. Because they were closing forever soon, I called a day early to make sure they had meds in stock and they blamed my rx processing difficulty on me calling "too early." No accountability on their end. This month, I called the day when my refill is due, for the same reason, was told "they're working on it" and they hung up on me. I then found one of my meds to be out of stock as I'm picking up. Why did they not pay closer attention over the phone or offer to just transfer the med to a new pharmacy since that's what needs to be done now anyway? Instead they had me forfeit my rx for a partial fill. When following up, they didn't even listen to my question, which was to see if they got more in stock before their closing date, and they said yes and made sure to let me know how the small amount of pills are "supposed to last" (I didn't say they didn't). 2 weeks later when I was supposed to be able to pick up the remaining, they told my husband a different story, that they "weren't sure if they would be able to fill it last week, sorry, but will work on it now." Not true, they told me they had it last week but would not dispense it. And it's outrageous we had to call back for them to process it. I hope I don't see any of these staff members ever again (except for two of the more helpful OG technicians from 2015) around at whichever pharmacy I end up (Too late). When I had the especially frustrating interaction of being punished because they ran out of stock and wouldn't transfer to get my full amount, I did complain in a survey but nothing ever came of it. Guess everyone is off the hook.

So, I returned it (unopened), and when I went to exchange it for calamine lotion (which was less expensive), I was told I owed them more money because they do not refund the same amount of money that was initially paid. Every time I come here the pharmacists are scrambling trying to complete orders and the process ends up taking them longer than it needs to. Some of the staff are also slow to complete a task, not sure why. The evening staff gets even worse when they delay my pickup by asking inessential questions and look at me like a I'm a drug dealer when I pick up my grandmothers prescriptions. It's not my fault grandma is addicted to percs & xannies. I'd appreciate less judgement and more customer service when I pick up her orders.

My rating is on the low end because despite how overworked and understaffed retail pharmacies are,…read morethis really could be better. Starting with communication via entering your refill number through the phone system. It simply isn't monitored, it seems like. I will enter it in during the morning, and give a phone call in the afternoon, and the refills won't even be on the technician or pharmacist's radar. Usually they are kind about it, but I have been hung up on after a very long wait. That brings me to my next concern over calling in a new medication or refill and opting to speak to staff. If I'm not hung up on, usually they tell me the medication will be ready "later this afternoon." But it never is. I'll go in person and they're almost surprised that I am there to pick up and then they get started on it. That's better than making me wait an extra day, but I do get an intense headache from the stress. I can look past a lot, when CVS is next door, and Rite Aid used to gas light me about my refills being "too soon." But today I ordered my prescriptions by phone call, and they told me they were "working on two," I asked which ones, and they were ones I picked up two days ago. I asked if the correct two can be picked up. They said again, "we are working on them." I asked when they would be ready they said "after noon." I noticed the meds were actually ready, as I received a text, but it was for the two I have fresh refills for. I went in person hoping the correct meds would be ready by the time I'm in an extremely long line... only to be told my meds I called about this morning were "too soon." Fortunately the tech was willing to listen to me describe how the pick up schedule should not be "too soon" and how I called in the morning and asked, and if they were not able to refill, they should have told me then. She was kind about it, but it gave me a scare (and reminder of Rite Aid) and a terrible headache. I use this pharmacy because CVS doesn't even answer a phone and the staff here for the most part seem compassionate and easy going. But it has potential to be messy like Rite Aid, though. I hope it's a one off. Sav-on, please monitor your message system or tell your staff they need to actively listen to patients over the phone so there are no surprises. An accurate time frame would also help. Again, I regret that you are so overworked. I wish there was a better way for pharmacy staff AND patients.
