I had absolutely no intention of going to Rite Aid today. I did however have to get out and get some exercise since I have been cooped up at my in-law's house watching everyone open up their Christmas presents. Planet Fitness is obviously closed so I was walking down from the West Hills, and before I knew it I was coming up to Valaria View Rd. It was at this point that I realized that I needed a men's room. I decided to continue across Barnes Rd and ask if I could use the bathroom @ Rite Aid. I did use to work there so I had a feeling they would allow it. The shopping center seemed to still be under "pretty heavy" construction. Lots of the facades still had the generic white signs on them and there were large gate blockades blocking [sic] the walkway. I walked down to Rite Aid but there was a (solid) metal gate that was down. I am guessing this is because there had been multiple break-ins. I was expecting the store to be open because the CVS that I work at is open. I am hoping that this location hasn't been closed.... read more

Absolutely horrible experience at the rite aid pharmacy today. My poor Sick 4 year only had just gone to the doctor, who told us he had a 103 fever and a double ear infection. I went to pick up.his prescription and my sick son stood by the isle, slowly touching a contact lense solution bottle, looked at it and put it back nicely. One of the pharmacists, a middle aged man with glasses and little hair, barked loudly at my poor Sick kid to put those back now! What the hell? He wasn't dropping anything or making a mess. It was totally uncalled for, rude, loud and horrible. Especially considering my 4 year old was very sick. My sons feelings were hurt and he started crying. Wow. Horrible pharmacist. Will NEVER go back to the Rite Aid pharmacy in Barnes road. You should be ashamed of yourself. read more

Service was slow and unfriendly. I was the only customer in line and was barked at when I walked up to the window to pick up my prescription. I was instructed to wait behind a sign post and told they would get right to me. Ten minutes later I was still waiting. They had three people behind the counter and couldn't be bothered to hand me my prescription. I walked out and had my subscription sent to Costco. I won't be going back to Rite Aid. read more

It must because the population is aging or something but it seems like there is a drug store on every corner these days. Used to be there was only one for an entire neighborhood, if that. This one is pretty much the same as every other cookie cutter rite-aid, Walgreens, what have you. Nothing you can't find for less money at a Walmart. This place happens to be handy for me although I don't use the pharmacy since I am a VA client. But if you're looking for the sort of stuff you'd find at a Rite-aid and don't feel like saving money at Wallyworld you'll likely find it here. Or just up the street at Walgreens, CVS, Pharmaca, Freddys, Safeway, Albertsons... you get the idea. I'm not big in supporting these impersonal franchise outfits since I strongly prefer to support local mom and pop businesses that contribute to the community and local economy. But it is what it is these days. The small business owner has been pushed out. The review is five stars because there's nothing much to complain about here. It's not the franchise owner's fault that Rite-aid corporate shoved out the small local drug store that used to be here.... long, long ago since there was no local drug store in Cedar Mill for as far back as I can remember. I guess maybe when Bales had a small pharmacy? UPDATE: The bot response from Rite-aid posted below is a glowing example of what I am talking about. The pharmacy. I have been waiting for my insulin needles for two weeks now. They said they would text me when they are in. NO text. When I call the pharmacy no one answers. Every day I have called at least 10 times. Today I called 15 times. No answer. I do not drive and I have limited mobility. I cant just pop down to the pharmacy to see if my medication is ready only to have it not be. Ubers are not cheap. What kind of pharmacy not only ignores phone when it could have serious health repersussions, but on top of that doesn't even have voice mail? read more

This Rite Aid is located in the Peterkort Towne Square shopping center on Barnes near Cedar Hills. The former anchor tenant of this center, Albertsons, has been gone for several years now and so far no one has moved in to that huge empty space. The fact that Rite Aid and the other businesses here are surviving without that anchor tenant traffic is pretty amazing. This Rite Aid looks pretty much like every other one I've been to, not better or worse. The shelves are well stocked. The salesfloor is clean and merchandise appears organized. No one greeted me when I entered or the entire time I browsed the store. But that never stops me from shopping somewhere. It's just icing on the cake. I can't comment on the pharmacy cuz luckily I don't have any need for it. But there is plenty of nice merchandise here and the sales offer good deals. read more

Maybe I'm biased because I am used to going to Rite Aid and Walgreens in NE Hollywood and Lloyd district so this store impressed me immediately because I didn't have to step over street people to enter. Once inside, the store is bright, clean with wide spacious aisles. Wow, I am definitely not in Kansas anymore! My doctor's office is right down the street so I have stopped here many times to pick up a prescription, over the counter meds and buy personal items. I've always had a good experience. Often walk out with far more than I intended because I'm so intrigued by the cleanliness and well stocked shelves. There are always sales - and spontaneous purchases of Dove dark chocolates miniatures - so next thing I know, my arms are full. Usually a sales rep gets me a basket! There is plenty of parking, the check out lines are usually empty or when there are lines, they move fast. There is even a drive through for the pharmacy if you are in a hurry. With so many stores in this little strip mall gone, I'm glad that Rite Aid and Sunrise Bagels are still here. read more

Today I arrived in the drive through pharmacy at 1:15. There were two cars in front of me. When I got to the window at 1:30 the pharmacy tech put the slgn up and said they were closed for lunch and walked away. I was a bit stunned as I had been in line for 15 minutes. How hard is it for them to come outside and put up a folding sign after the last car they will be accepting before they go to lunch? I have used this Rite Aid for 24 years, it used to be a great store with wonderful, helpful and customer service oriented pharmacy staff. The woman I encountered today, is one of the rudest. She has waited on me before and is always curt and surly. Dark hair and lots of makeup. There is one man, Bill, who is outstanding, but he is only there one day a week so from what I can tell. So disappointing to see a chain like Rite Aid be unable to employ professional, kind people who have the ability to at least pretend they are happy to help you. I usually contribute $1 to any cause that the stores are collecting for BUT the clerks need to always ask. Seems RiteAid might have a rewards program for the clerks who collect the most donations. The pharmacy at this Rite Aid location had terrible customer service. The clerk was slow and not proactive in helping his customers. The pharmacist on at the time I was there was just on her cell phone the entire time on a personal call while the waiting area was full of customers waiting for their prescriptions. I overhead many other customers complain out of frustration that their orders were called in days ago and they'd still have to wait the standard "25 minutes" to get their order filled. If I continue to use Rite Aid's pharmacy, I'll be using the Walker location instead as they have much better service even though it is farther away. read more

Go ANYWHERE but here to get a prescription filled. My husband severely broke his leg and told me to go here for his prescriptions since it was so close to his surgical office. The first time I just dropped off the scripts. When I returned I looked all over the place for a few items to help him out. I also started going through some epic health battle stuff. I needed small vomit bags like the hospital has. Two different employees has me walking up and down aisles and seemed to not have a clue where anything was. They do not carry those which seems rather silly for a drug store and they are heavily used/needed for cancer patients. I mentioned it to the pharmacist when picking up the prescriptions and she says, "Oh yeah - a lot of people ask for those so I am amazed we don't carry them." Seriously??? One of the prescriptions needed a refill. In the two weeks since I was in the last time my health has declined pretty significantly and I am barely standing. I call in the refill and the automated service asks me if I would like to pick up around pm. I select yes which it confirms. I get there around 530pm and am struggling standing so I sit down to wait for the person in front of me to finish. I finally just get up and practically crawl into line since three different people go ahead of me....of course the girl ringing people up is not even paying attention. The folks in line are very very sweet and are saying, "Please go ahead of me...I totally cut you off!" So I get up to the front and am told, "Oh, they are working on that now so it will be about 45 minutes..." I almost started crying...but just walked out. I might mention, it has been two weeks and my poor husband still does not have his prescription since neither of us can walk now. read more

This Rite Aid should be sooooo much better given its surrounding neighborhoods. The interior feels run down and several shelves are sparse with odd trinkets and wares. There is lots of parking and easy access. read more

Update*** I was contacted by a Rite Aid regional manager who went the extra mile in listening to my grievance and offering stop by my house to drop off my prescription! She was very pleasant and at every opportunity fulfilled my requests. Due to the update in service I am changing my rating. Original Post The store number was 05356 Barnes Rd. 97225 Rite Aid. I experienced the worst customer service in this pharmacy. I had a medication refill and Emily behind the counter was very nice, however when I returned home, I realized that they had only given me three pills in the bottle that I had refilled. I called the pharmacy, and the individual I spoke with sounded as though this was her first job. When I asked why the bottle only had three pills instead of the full number she stated "oh well, sometimes that happens." I asked to speak with her manager whose name was Sorya. I asked why the bottle was not full and Sorya stated "well we didn't have enough to fill the bottle." I asked why I was not informed of the situation while I was in the store, Sorya said "sometimes we don't have enough to fill the bottle so come back when we have enough." I patiently explained to Sorya that my grievance isn't the fact that they did not have enough product, I was concerned as to why I was not told while I was in the store, so that I could make future arrangements. I also told Sorya they need to tell me when the product will be available so that I will know when to make arrangements to stop back by. Sorya told me an arbitrary date that the product will be available, and I asked if she could call me so that I'll know for sure when the product is available and travel will be kept to a minimum. Sorya then became exasperated and snapped her reply. I have experienced wonderful customer service within this Rite Aid, however, other than Elaine, it seems as though the staff is not only deficient in their pharmaceutical skills, but also in customer service. read more

I have disliked Rite Aid for many years because of a situation at my local store near me in NE Portland, so I do not normally go. Well skipping forward 7 years I had been searching frantically for a place to get my COVID-19 vaccine since I am phase 1a and had no luck. A friend said Rite Aid had open slots so I ran and got a appointment yesterday. I was nervous because of my already bad experiences with a Rite Aid. So I showed up about 10 minutes early and I have to say I was incredibly impressed with how they handled everyone for the vaccine. There was a separate place to check in for the appointment. Once we were checked in we were connected to a lady who had chairs spread out through the store and was wiping them down as she was rotating people through. The whole process took about six minutes once I got my shot, they asked us to stay in another area for 5 to 15 minutes to make sure we didn't have an allergic reaction. Again there was another person on this side wiping chairs down and Rotating people through the chairs kind a like musical chairs. It was very effective, they were very friendly, and very much on top of keeping everyone social distanced and safe. Thanks for a great experience to see you my next shot read more

I was denied a normal refund without a receipt even though I'd made the purchase on a debit card and used their wellness card. Every other store in the known universe is able to look up purchases using either one of these methods. What made it worse is that the only employee at the register didn't know how to process a return and the manager and she were having trouble communicating with each other. Eventually they asked for my ID with no explanation as to why and I explained again that I'd used my debit card and my wellness card. No response. At no point was any of the process explained to me and then they began putting the refund on a gift card without even warning me. I was forced to confront them about what was going on and that's when they explained that nothing I'd said mattered and this was just the way it is. I opted to take my purchase home and look for the receipt. I don't normally shop at Rite Aid because the service and the prices are so poor and the store design unimaginative. It really doesn't have anything to recommend it. The item I was trying to return was only purchased because I didn't think any where else carried it and the reason for the return is that I did find the same item at Target for just a little more of the Rite Aid price but DOUBLE the quantity, so it was obviously the better deal. When will companies like this be swept into the dustbin of history where they belong? read more

I've given this pharmacy multiple chances, but I finally need to speak my mind. First, my infant had a double ear infection and was prescribed amoxicillin... pretty standard stuff. After waiting in line with my sick baby, I was told they wouldn't have the medicine in stock for two days. Well that wasn't going to work for us, so I asked if another store had it in stock. She suggested I call the other rite aids myself- awesome customer service, right! After I wasn't on board with that solution, she told me she had confirmed the medicine would be at another location and let them know I was coming. After arriving at the second location, that staff claimed they had no record of a call from this store. So, an hour later, sick baby in-toe, I finally get her meds. Today, I go to pick up a prescription for myself. Welp, wouldn't you believe they suddenly don't have my insurance card on file. Instead of just quickly handling it, they told me to park and return to the line in 10-15 minutes... Might be some time for customer service etiquette.... read more

I have had so many bad experiences with this pharmacy that I have finally given up. Countless times my prescription has not been ready by the time it was promised. On their automated refill prescription phone line they always ask for a phone number "in case the pharmacist has a question". After having filled dozens of prescriptions there I have NEVER received a call from them even though they sometimes can't fill the prescription fully or if there is any other problem - I find out there's a problem only when I arrive at the pharmacy to pick it up. I had one pharmacist tell me that he didn't even know how to get my phone number off the system, saying that's just a "corporate thing" A couple of years ago I went in for a flu shot. They said my insurance would not cover it even though I told them that Medicare would pay for it. It took TWO technicians about 15 minutes to try to figure out how to bill it.. Hard to believe!! I finally gave up and went to Walgreens where I was in and out in less than ten minutes. After suffering with their poor customer service for over 15 years I have now moved my prescriptions to a different pharmacy which is much more customer oriented. I stuck with this Rite Aid for so long because was by far the most convenient location for me. I've moved now, so I no longer have that excuse to use them. I have noticed that over the years that the technicians and pharmacists at this store never seem to stick around for more than a few months. Every time I found someone who seemed to have their act together they moved on to greener pastures somewhere else. I can only conclude that they are overworked, underpaid, poorly trained, and unsupported by the corporate organization. Based on that I would not count on them getting better any time soon! read more

Do not use this business. Your Rx will not be ready, even when you call to verify it is. Numerous wasted trips have cost me countless hours of wasted time. I have gone here countless time and it just keeps getting worse. Extremely sick today and had my medication faxed over from my doctors, as soon as I left my doctors I called Rite Aid since I know they have a tendency of being EXTREMELY slow! They ensured me it would be ready in 30 mins. I get there 10 mins late in hopes that would make sure it would be done and they say it will be another 10 mins! So I wait 10 mins, go back to the counter and they tell me it will be another 10-15 mins!!! Beyond annoying, I have dealt with this enough and will NEVER go back! This pharmacy is extremely SLOW & the customer service is poor. People that come to a pharmacy typically don't feel well, are helping a loved one, or refilling a medication that they take daily. These customers are usually local and give Rite Aid a ton of business... The lack of compassion, patience, and knowledge from the pharmacy techs makes me angry. A poor old man was worried about his co-payment & the tech said... "You know this isn't really our problem, you need to call your insurance". My goodness. This pharmacy is close to our house, but I think it's time to find a new location. I'm tired of feeling like they're doing me a favor to fill a prescription & then waiting at the counter forever just to pay and pick it up. *The very short gal with short blonde short hair is the worst! There's a reason why the reviews are so bad here. The pharmacists are insulting and basically will assume you can't afford your prescriptions. Then they will give you a generic instead of the brand specified on the prescription without even telling you. I had to argue with the lady that I wanted the brand specified that I have been using for years. She tried to brush it off as it's the same thing. Even if it is, I want what I am comfortable with. It is my health, not hers. Then she tried claiming the generic they gave me was cheaper. I insisted on getting the correct one and she finally conceded, and it turns out the correct one was a *whopping* 40 cents more. I can't stand these people. read more

Went to the cashier to ring me up and he answered the phone I just figured he would help me and then he the person on the phone. But one he asked me to hold on and helped the person on the phone. I work in customer service and I ALWAYS help the person in front of me as especially if there's only one person in line. Which I was. I was just on a 30 minute lunch brake. This is one of the WORST pharamacies that I have ever done business with. Not only do they typically make you wait a LONG time either in line or at the drive-through, but their customer service is among the worst I've ever seen. Short, curt and sometimes rude. Even their manager makes excuses saying 'we've had to make cuts... not enough staff... etc etc' Walgreens is so much better. Rite Aid does not have a short cut system for expediting payment (keeping card # on file), and they do not even keep track of files very well. They threw out my son's iPledge # so I had to jump through a bunch of hoops looking for it. I talked to Walgreens and they said that they always keep that info on file. I'll never do business with another Rite Aid pharmacy again until they change their system and improve their customer service. read more

This location is the WORST rite aid I've ever had the misfortune of visiting. After getting out of the hospital, we dropped off my two prescriptions and were quoted a waiting time of 45 minutes. Okay, we'll go get some lunch and return, everything should be ready by then right? We pull into the drive through 60 minutes later, only to be told that things aren't ready yet, and that they will need another 15 minutes. This is where my blood starts to boil a little, but luckily I wasn't alone and was able to contain myself. 30 minutes later we return for a THIRD time, and the girl with short blonde hair (who looked as clueless as someone who was just born this morning) said that she was going to need some more time to process my order. At this point, I'm explaining to her that it's been over an hour and a half, she's made us drive through here 3 times already.. and still nothing is done? She didn't apologize, she just made up excuses that didn't calm me down at all. She says 5 more minutes. 5 minutes later she approaches the drive through window and asks for my ID and insurance card because I don't have a rite aid profile, or I'm not in their system, something ridiculous because rite aid is (was) the only pharmacy I ever use to fill all of my prescriptions (6-8 a month). I told her that I have a profile, that I am in their system. This is the point at which things got really stupid.. she tried telling me that the physical hard copies of the prescriptions I gave them were not for me. ?????? Even though they had my name and DOB on them? She tried to say that my middle name was not what I said it was, and wasn't going to give me my prescriptions. At this point, I'm not able to stay calm and am yelling at her to just give my hard copies back so I can go somewhere else because they were obviously incompetent. I had already showed her my ID, and insurance card, but still I'm told that my prescriptions aren't for me. Then (who I assume was the pharmacist, not fluent in English), approaches the window and tells me that he filled my prescription for someone else. They told me that there was someone else there with the same name, at the same time, and my prescriptions were filled for him and not me. This all seemed a little strange considering I do not have a common name and the chances of someone else with an uncommon name being there at the same time were pretty low.. but whatever. I just wanted my scripts back. The pharmacist said to give him 5 more minutes to fix everything. 15 minutes later, he's asking me to sign forms and asking me for money even though my insurance covers prescriptions 100%. I just shook my head and laughed a little because it was starting to feel like an episode of candid camera. BUT IT WASN'T!!! It's just rite aid on Barnes Rd. in Portland, OR. After two or more hours, and lots of fighting, I finally got my prescriptions because they wouldn't give the hard copies back to me so I could go elsewhere. However, one of them was filled in full.. and the other was only filled halfway. Nobody said they were only filling half my script, nobody said anything at all. ***Deceptive, slow, stupid.*** These are the only three things I would use to describe the pharmacy at this location, and the people who work in it. Now I'm trying to pick up the other half of the prescription I didn't get that day, but they also screwed up the insurance billing. How do you bill a different insurance company for one prescription, but not the other?? I'm beyond baffled by this experience and am pulling all of my prescriptions from this company and going somewhere else. If anything, people should stay away from this location at all costs.. because it will certainly cost you something in the end and it won't be about the money. They should fire everyone who works there and start over. read more
