Not to be critical but Monterey and cheddar cheeses have No business on an Italian pizza! The staff behind the counter at Pops are pleasant and helpful and the pizzas are consistently delicious ! It's definitely a family owned and family friendly place! Pops is one if those pizza spots that immediately makes you feel like you're in New Haven or NYC!! Still loving it!! Its nothing special when you walk in but the aromas and friendly staff beckon you to come in and have a slice... or two!

After graduating with a master's degree from Boston College, East Haven-native Hennessey entered the corporate world. In December 2024, his family opened the Forbes Premium Fuel gas station in North Haven. The gas station was designed to have a convenience store as well as a decent-sized restaurant space. For nearly a year, the restaurant space sat empty as Hennessey's parents were unable to find a restaurant that was willing to move into the space. Hennessey was then tapped to open a pizzeria in the space. Although he had never owned a business or prepared food professionally, the 29-year-old had been experimenting with making pizza since his teenage years. After a number of disastrous pizza-making experiments in his Boston apartment, Hennessey was ready to move back to Connecticut to open his own pizzeria. At Pat's Apizza, the menu is focused exclusively to pizza. Most of the pies are New Haven-style "apizza" (pronounced ah-BEETZ in the local lingo), but they also prepare Sicilian and Roman pies. Upon opening in September, Pat's was met with much success. In addition to full pies, Pat's Apizza also sells slices. Hennessey is quick to remind his customers, "It's not gas station pizza, it's not." My family and I recently visited Pat's Apizza while my wife's uncle was visiting from out of town. We have been meaning to try their pizza since they first opened; we heard plenty of great things. Most of Pat's business seems to be take-out, but they have about six tables inside with an additional four outside. It was a little drizzly on the day of our visit, so we opted for inside. After looking over the menu, my family and I ordered and shared three larges: the "Margherita" (fresh mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, basil, olive oil), "The White Pie Special" (mozz, ricotta, caramelized onion, garlic, basil, Pecorino Romano, olive oil), and the "Mashed Potato Bacon" (mozzarella, mashed potato, bacon, Pecorino Romano). My wife's uncle ordered a small Margherita with Mushrooms for himself. The crust was crispy, charred around the edges, very flavorful sauce, good cheese and excellent toppings! We enjoyed all of the pies, but the Margherita was everyone's favorite! Congrats to Pat and his crew for bringing fantastic pizza to such an unusual setting. We hope to be back again and again!

Went back in and picked it up. It smelt so good I couldn't wait to get home yo give it a try. The cheese on this pizza was great, the crust is what really got me going. Great savory pizza, perfect crust, cheese and sauce. The pepperoni had a nice hit to it. I was completely blowned away by this so called gas station pizza. And they even do slices. Definitely give it a try. They had a steady traffic flow coming in and and out to get a pie. It like of looks like a law firm with its black frame, but inside is delicious pizza. There's a fair amount of tables and chairs to sit, you order at the counter, and viola! With the Super Bowl approaching I needed to write this review to inform others as to what to expect based on my experience. Based on my experience each delivery brings disappointment in inaccurate orders, incomplete orders, or wrong or cold food. I attached pictures of the proof of my experience. I have been a long time customer of Whooster's. I even took a year off from ordering because of the problems. I have told them of my concerns. Still orders are wrong. Food is cold. There is always at least one person, often more than one person, in my family that did not get what they wanted, what I ordered, what I paid for. Whooster pizza does not sell anything exclusive. There are at least 30 places in Waterbury to buy pizza and other menu items from. After a decade of loyalty and a full year of consistent poor service I have finally stopped spending my discretionary money with Whooster. I found another pizza place that has been doing a good job. The delivery guys are nice. They try, but the orders are not filled completely or correctly. The food arrives cold or a mess. I have given them many attempts to correct themselves. They used to be top notch, a great place. My best guess is the father stopped running the place. I like to support my local businesses but I just can't keep wasting money and listening to my kids complain. I would make excuses or try to not complain at times because it felt like I was always pointing out errors. Look at the pictures. Cold pizza. Temperature is 99 degrees. The kids said it was terrible. They said it was colder than when you microwave pizza. I haven't ever posted about them but on January 3rd, I finally did and attached a picture of the mess of a pizza they delivered. They responded by offering a $10 credit on my next purchase. I never used it. I didn't want the credit. I wanted them to correct their service. I was hopeful that me sharing my experience would give them concern to take this seriously. They didn't. Nothing improved. On or about January 16, they delivered my sons steak and olive oil and garlic pasta. As pictured below, it was pasta sauce. My son hates pasta sauce. Another part of the meal thrown away. I posted a picture of most all of my purchases this year. I use different credit cards. I am spending 50, 60 and 70 plus dollars each order. I am not a valued customer. They are not concerned with getting my order correct and delivering the food hot. I have decided to spend my money supporting a business that can get it right. After a minimum of 27 tries, Whooster still can't deliver a correct hot meal. That is my experience.
