Take out for my first time here. Pizza only, one eggplant and one Margherita. Upon entering, a few things to note. First, it's a very warm and inviting space with the open wood burning oven right in front of you with two separate dining rooms on either side. Both sides have a TV on the wall and one side has a full bar. I was greeted nicely and my pizza was ready when they said it would be. On the downside, there's no handicapped parking in front, which I would think is illegal. There's not even a ramp anywhere close to the entrance. There's other negative is that there was nowhere to sit and wait for take out. This might be due to the Christmas tree and decoration but I don't know. So, why 3 stars? The pizza was just ok. They are small (12"), and, yes, less expensive, but just ok. I don't like Parmesan sprinkled on top of my pizza but saw them put it on every pie. This should be a request, not a given. I've heard good things about the food so I may dine in sometime, but won't get the pizza again. read more

I am so surprised I haven't heard of this spot earlier. The second I entered I was greeted with a smile and the most welcoming energy. The interior is elevated casual, with a beautiful bar completed with televisions on one side, and family style seating on the other. The menu offers drool worthy Italian food, especially on their specials list. Both of my entrees, the burrata rigatoni and prosciutto panuozzo (my absolute favorite ever -- the chicken cutlet was amazing), are specials. I was so excited to try this place after seeing advertisements on Facebook, pictures looked amazing and I use to frequent there before the name change. Sadly, my experience was underwhelming. I got the Chicken Milanese Burrata Salad special. The menu said it was chicken "cutlets" (plural). I received one thinly pounded small chicken cutlet. I honestly thought I misread the menu and double checked. It was more like an appetizer size, definitely not a dinner salad. Salad had good flavor, nice glaze. Chicken was overcooked, like a chicken crouton. I tried one fried Mozzarella stick, was ok- had an odd flavor (maybe the grated cheese on top. Had a sweetness like flavor. Again, breading was dry/overcooked. Gave the mozz to my roommate, I ate my salad for light lunch and picked up a chicken cutlet grinder from Luna's on the way home for dinner. I cant say I've ever been hungry after eating at an Italian restaurant. Hope my feedback is helpful and the restaurant updates their menu. read more

My dad saw this was in Connecticut magazine and really wanted to try it, so we went on Thursday. We were very pleasantly surprised to say the least. The atmosphere was very cozy and well decorated, the service was great, and the food was outstanding. The bread with a garlic oil dip that they served was so fresh and delicious. We got fried calamari and Caesar salad to start. The only complaint I have about the Caesar salad is that it didn't come pre-tossed, so it was a bit messy to eat. The calamari was probably the best I've ever had and it even had fried cherry peppers in it (my favorite part). We got the Sweet and Spicy pizza, which was really tasty and had a nice subtle kick to it. I'm glad the pizza was very thin, that's the best way to make it! The portions are very generous. If it weren't 30 minutes away, I'd be going all the time! I will definitely be back!! read more

Despite all of the amazing reviews I've seen online, I thought the food was average. My friend and I agreed that everything tasted a bit too light and underseasoned. The textures of the arancini and pizza were both good, though. This is a thin crust pizza, and it has a nice crisp. The service was attentive, which I appreciate, and I loved the atmosphere of the interior from the lights on the tables to the displays of wine and the walking tour videos playing on the TV. I'm not sure I would come back because I didn't think the food was anything outstanding, but it did feel like a nice spot to grab food with a friend. read more

Doesn't get any better than this place. Never had a bad dish here and I've been here 100 times. Every dish here is never mediocre, they are all amazing. Broccoli rob and sausage pizza and the chicken penne alla are my favorites. If you think the food is good wait until you get the desserts even better. The pizza at Haven pizzeria is amazing. I went there Saturday. They use a great pizza sauce, the mozzarella cheese is very neutral tasting and the dough and crust are crunchy. Haven pizzeria also uses the best wood fired oven I've seen. The only thing, I hope they start making medium size or large size pies. read more

Haven pizzeria's pizza is pretty much a well done neapolitan. The crust is charred to perfection, plus it's crispy, and tastes rather buttery too. Haven definitely gets kudos for that. As for the negatives: the sausage tastes more like hamburger, the pizza was slighty over salted, and the pecorino romano was a bit strong, but the positives definitely out weigh the negatives. With that said, the pizza was good and it definitely gives Frank Pepe's a run for its money. That's a review. read more

As big fans of Pizzeria Napoletana, we were beyond excited when we learned that it was reopening as "Haven" from the son of the original owners. They did some remodeling since we had last been in there, and it looked really nice! The wings and pizza were just as we remembered them. For now they're only offering small pizzas as they adjust to being open again, but will be offering larges soon. The crust was thin and crispy, and each pizza was delicious. I especially liked the asparagus and onion which I don't remember being on their previous menu! There were quite a few non-pizza menu items that I'd like to come back and try. The mozzarella in the fried mozzarella was so fresh, and the baked wings were crispy with plenty of meat on the bones. They were super busy tonight and had a few kinks to work out in terms of the service, but I'm sure that will improve as they go and the staff was very sweet and accommodating. Their rip on VR's Mother Chips were overfried, slightly burned. The calamare was also overfried. Red pie (eggplant and bacon) was just Ok, the shrimp scampi pie was good (needed more garlic) but cooked well. I think Luna's has better red pies because their tomato sauce is straight up better. We walked to have a meal and we were asked "do you have a reservation?". We did not. Half the restaurant was empty and they had ample staff handling customers. So we waited approximately 10 minutes and they did not acknowledge us or attempt to seat us. Very good Neapolitan wood fired pizzas here, solid 4.25 stars. Great desserts too. We have been to Haven's in Prospect twice, and are happy we don't have to drive to the City of New Haven for excellent pizza anymore. Love the ambience and 4-star service here too. read more
