I have going there for over 30 years and never had a bad experience experience always greeting with a happy face and a warm pizza .

I haven't been here in years as I'm now living in Texas but I grew up with this place and it was phenomenal. Never had a problem. They used to make a custom old fashioned pizza for my mom. Was craving pizza but it was lunchtime and I was alone. Searched for pizza slices on Yelp while I was out Christmas shopping in Cheshire and found Pop's. Cute little place. Cash only (they have an ATM). Asked for a slice of cheese and a slice of pep. When serving me my slices - he added an extra slice because one slice he gave me 'was on the small size.' Such a kind gesture considering the 2 slices I ordered were more than enough but extra points for that one. The pizza was actually delicious. Thin, crispy and the sauce:topping ratio was on point. Personally, I don't think Pop's pizza was bad, but it's not gourmet either. Unfortunately, it doesn't hit the spot when a pizza craving comes on. The sauce is bland and the crust is so, so. Cheshire has many places where you can go, and get a good pizza, and Pop's is definitely on that list. Pop's has both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a great selection of pizza you can purchase by the slice. We ordered a large mozz, and meatball pizza to go. The crust is a little thicker than New Haven style, but was crispy and cooked to perfection. The sauce was excellent, and the meatballs were sliced paper thin. They also are not skimpy with their toppings. We also tried their large meatball sub and it was excellent. Prices here are very reasonable. read more

My wife and I stopped in prior to walking our dog along the Farmington Canal Trail. Once again a variety of pizzas were available by the slice, however, not the cheese pizza that my wife and I desired. We, actually I, made the unfortunate decision to order slices of the Old Fashioned (Sicilian) that were little more than sauce over slices of thick crust. We will not be making that mistake again if and when we make a return visit. One side note: Pop wants cash or check don't even think about using a credit card. read more

I e been driving by Pop's pizza for years and finally made a pit stop to check it out. I ordered a small pie to go - half cheese and sausage/onions. The pie was done very short order. 8/9/23 Oh! Dear Lord! What a MAJOR disappointment Pop's Pizza was for me. It came recommended by a friend who lives nearby and said he wouldn't get his pizza anywhere else. As for me, I'd as soon get one from just about anywhere ELSE! I came in today for the first, and very LAST time based upon that recommendation. It's an order at the counter, served at the table sort of place. It's also a "cash only" sort of place, with an ATM on premises. I ordered a house salad with blue cheese dressing that was fresh, but skimpy on the cucumber (1) SLICE and one grape tomato cut in half, and blue cheese dressing that really didn't taste a whole lot like blue cheese.. I decided on a small (12") pie with onions, mushrooms, bacon and double Italian sausage. The mushrooms were practically incinerated, and the sausage had an unusual, and not terribly pleasant flavor. The sauce was EXTREMELY spicy, and also had a somewhat unpleasant under taste. I left the restaurant and over half the pizza on the round aluminum sheet pan it was served on (check my photos). This is one pizza joint I'm dropping from my "saved" list, for certain. Oh, By the way, the one star is for the excellent crust. Honest! read more

Called in a takeout order at 7:20 pm for 3 calzones, a large pizza, and their meatball appetizer, was told 25 minutes. Came in to pay, had to use the ATM because in 2020 they are cash/check only, so paid a fee to take out cash. After paying and tipping, receiving just the appetizer was told my order wasn't ready yet. After waiting 50 minutes I saw them arguing over a ticket in the kitchen, and noticed them throwing together a calzone and hurrying to put it in the pizza oven. I asked if my order was almost ready, with a hungry family to feed and being 8 months pregnant myself, this was getting ridiculous. Was told that they were training someone and she messed up my ticket and they had to make my other calzone still with no apology. I said well it's already been over double the amount of time and now the rest of the food was sitting there getting cold. The pizza maker and idk maybe owner told me he didn't know what to tell me, he's trying to train people, and was very rude and condescending. With that, I asked for my money back and said we would take our business elsewhere, he said he couldn't hear me and ignored my request. I called my husband who came in and got our money back, even though we still lost money on the ATM fee and tip. This was our second bad experience here in a row and we will never be back. There are plenty of pizza places around that don't make you wait an hour to be disrespected and served cold food. No wonder they can't keep any help. read more

Went there to feed hungry teenagers, 4 of them. For a small spot like them I did not think anything I've had no luck with quick pizza spots, unless I was in the city), however reviews were better than other pizza spots in the area. To my surprise they were good, not michelin Stars, but good enough to get me back in. I ordered anti pasta salad, ingredients were great, fresh, even my SO dug into my dish. We ordered pie with buffalo chix and other half was white spinach. Most places I've gone made my belly hurt, their chix was good quality and spinach did not look like it went through digestive tract once before. Kids were happy and took left over pizza pie and another buffalo chix pie. Service was good, owner's son was extremely friendly. I definitely want to go back to try their other pies. I Walked in there for a lunch 30 min break . I ordered a salad and a philly grinder , set down waiting for the food and it took forever to make the food , to be exact about 30 mins . After all that wait I decided to take it with me because I had to return back to work. In a mean time I watch them take orders from walk ins and over the phone also people walking in and out with their food in no time. I felt mistreated . I will not go there again. My husband goes here multiple times a week for lunch so we decided to go one night so we could all give it a try. It's in a small strip mall in Cheshire and has been there for years. Great prices- everything was moderately priced, even the dinners prices were low. We just went for the pizza though- we ordered a half cheese half mushroom and sausage pizza which took about 20 minutes to be brought to the table. They use fresh mushrooms and ground sausage that's a little spicy, no spicier than pepperoni so I would still say it's still a safe bet for kids if they're not picky. The crust had a really nice slightly chewy texture to it, not too crunchy. Between the 3 of us we ate the entire thing- granted we hadn't eaten lunch so otherwise there would have been at least a couple slices left over. We were hemming and hawing over getting a chef salad to split before the pizza and decided it probably wasn't big enough to share. Then we saw it brought out to the table behind us and I immediately had salad envy- it was definitely beg enough for 2 maybe even 3 people to split as an appetizer and it was fully loaded- will definitely be trying that next time we go. It's a small place, not a ton of seating and not super fancy but seems like more of a to go place any how. Pop's is a Cheshire staple. It's kind of a hole in the wall, but I guess you could say it has some character. We have been going here for years and the pizza is pretty good. They usually have a coupon or two in the weekly paper, but their slices and pies are all reasonably priced. there isn't much seating in the actual place (especially when there are local sports teams celebrating) and they do not deliver. I would suggest Pop's to anyone in the area, but it's not the type of place that you would drive from far away to get the pizza or grinders (fyi they are a decent size and can usually be shared). at lunch time it seems the parking isnt "ideal" but that aside, i had a few slices to go from pop's today and they were decent slices and well priced. girls behind the counter were friendly and quick getting and heating the slices. gotta get back to pops and order a whole pie next time. the old fashioned (rectangular sicilian style with a nice fluffy light crust) was good - $1.40 for a slice it can't be beat. the plain slice (round pie with an ok crust, sort of spongey but dense - not sure what kind of oven they have here - conveyor belt?) was also good, not a monstrous slice but enough pizza for a $1.50 slice.. tomato sauce was straight forward simple and good - sort of pastey and sweet, the cheese was also good - the parmesan on the old fashioned and the mozz on the plain slice were well melted and the mozz was chewy, not too oily or runny - just right all around. Pop's is worth stopping in if you are in cheshire - lots of pizzerias around here that i have to still try though! important to note - NO CREDIT CARDS HERE! read more

This is by far my favorite pizza place- better than Pepe's, better than NYC slices and I've eaten a lot of pizza all over! Of course I grew up with it so maybe there is sentimental value too but just in terms of the actual pizza it's my favorite. This is how a judge a pizza: 3 main ingredients: crust, sauce & cheese (don't usually go for toppings) If one of those ingredients is off (not great sauce, too little cheese, bland crust, texture of cardboard etc) the pizza is usually just alright. 2/3 ingredients are off, you just messed that pizza up terribly. 3/3... don't think I need to go on. Pop's is on it. 3/3 of the ingredients are delicious in texture, taste and proportions. Tasty crust just the right thickness, a sauce that isn't overpowered with basil & oregano and just enough of it, with a healthy layer of cheesy goodness. The old-fashioned pizza is delicious too. I love their pizza sauce so much when I get the meatball grinder I special request the pizza sauce for it. AND the prices are ideal! The restaurant is small but I prefer the small town feel to it and I usually take it home when I'm there anyhow ;) Yeah, I love Pop's. read more

Pop's pizza is great for a plain cheese or cheese and garlic pizza. The sauce is good. Great for pizza that is cheap and quick. Much better than the other pizza places in town although I would not recommend their calzones unless you ask for pizza sauce to accompany them.
