It was my first time visiting Rival Coffee, and upon first glance, I was really excited about the spacious seating and big parking lot. We parked our car right in front, and walked into the coffee shop without seeing a line of customers. We saw the menu and there wasn't a top list of drinks. It was lattes with a list of syrups and dark coffee. They truly have a list of syrups for you to add to your latte. I was a bit caught off guard by that. They also had food, but we didn't look at that menu at all. We ordered a Hannah banana latte and a vanilla hazelnut latte. Both drinks were very milky. There was definitely coffee, because I was very caffeinated half way through my small size. The syrup you choose is definitely an after thought in every sip. Yes. There is spacious seating for anyone who wants to hangout or study. Beware to those coming here to work or study; it's so loud in here, I can't hear the person next to me. They are blasting country and soul music. It caused the groups hanging out to speak very loudly, and I just couldn't do work at all. On a positive note, they have free, strong WiFi. I don't think I'll be back. The coffee wasn't memorable and the space isn't suited for studying. I'd rather go to a quieter space with good brews. read more

CHILL COFFEE & STUDY ZONE! I spent two hours chilling on a table at Rival's outdoor patio. They had an amazing playlist and quiet atmosphere. I was able to read a manuscript while I was there without interruption. Rival's patio is shaded and has plenty of seating. I ordered a cold brew with a splash of oat milk to taste test the brew, I can confirm it was amazing coffee! I definitely want to dedicate more time coming to Rival, it's worth the buzz! I stepped inside and the coffee shop had a cool aesthetic with large coffee bags lining the shop and great use of natural lighting. The barista at the counter was decent, he was a little somber. However, the service was super FAST and efficient. I was so happy I got my coffee in less than 5 mins! I also want to visit for poetry night, my Mom and I haven't been able to make it but I drove by one night and it was hoping! The first time I visited Rival Coffee was a year ago, and I really liked my Crème Brûlée latte that the barista recommended to me. It's right across from the hotel I'm staying so it was super convenient to walk over there. I remembered that the place was decorated nicely with nice quote and fun urban art. I just tried to go over there this morning, and there was no signage about why it's closed today. It said that it opens at 7am on Saturday, and it's 7:40am--but it's closed?! I don't know why they're closed, but now I have to resort to the hotel coffee instead, which is definitely not as nice as the coffee I could have gotten if they were open. read more

Recently found a new coffee shop, other than Star$ucks. When I tell you the coffee was so smooth, it was delicious. Cute place! There were already a lot of people inside, but there's plenty of seating. Food and drinks came out really quickly - maybe less than 10 minutes? We also came on a pretty busy Saturday morning too. I really liked the matcha and I also asked them for sweet cream on top. Their carnitas stack was also quite filling and had really great flavors. Love how big and spacious this place is. I almost forgot what the coffee tasted like because I was too busy taking in the vibe. Parking lot is quite spacious too as it's located next to Holiday Inn Express. Didn't have time to study what the specialty items are so I got one of its filled donuts (maple pecan) and an Espresso Soda. The donut was quite good, and Espresso Soda was refreshing. Their menu sounded good online, so we decided to give it a try. I expected the place to be a smaller kind of cafe, but they had a lot of seating. I ordered the cajun avocado toast and the seasoning made it so flavorful and perfect. The tomatoes were so fresh. The bacon breakfast burrito was tasty and fresh too. The molcajete salsa was so flavorful and a perfect addition to the burrito. The cook their eggs in 100% pure virgin olive oil and all their donuts are cooked in avocado oil. Their bourbon peach coffee was so good that hubs ordered two. I really liked my pumpkin spice latte. It was a perfect pumpkin and coffee combination. Everything was good, loved my drink and the donut was so soft and full of flavor. I wish there was one in Riverside! The inside was nice and spacious and I loved the coffee bean bags! Today is National Coffee Day! Our experience was outstanding. Rilie took our order & we told her that it was our first time. She made helpful suggestions & laughed at our jokes. Thy do have outdoor seating but it was about 85-90 degrees outside. I wasn't use to the heat. Service was great. We ordered a latte and vanilla latte. It was so good. Thumbs up on the coffee. For eats, we got the pumpkin donut, The Rival, & Avo Toast. PUMPKIN DONUT: Lots of filling but wasn't too sweet. THE RIVALRY: Brioche bun was soft. Fried egg, arugula, bacon bits, and cheese. Updating my review after yesterday's experience, and honestly, I'm super bummed. I ordered a cold brew with vanilla bean, and it tasted really off; super burnt and acidic. I even had a friend taste it just to make sure it wasn't just me, and they agreed it wasn't right. I drink coffee all the time, so I feel like I know when something's just not how it should be. I almost never ask for a remake, but I let the barista know I was really disappointed and asked if she could either remake it or do something similar. Instead of being helpful, she just kind of stared at me and said, "uhh... do you want me to add milk?" I asked if she could add sweet cream since it was so acidic, and she did, but the whole interaction felt weird and uncomfortable (like I was asking for something unreasonable.) I used to love coming here, but if this is how they handle things, I think I'll just go somewhere else. It sucks because I really liked this spot! read more

I like Rival Coffee, their coffee is good and the service is usually great but today there was a shorter dark haired girl with clear glasses, I believe her name was Denise. She made us not feel welcome, she seemed in a bad mood, and acted frustrated at us for what I assume was because we had questions about the menu and was taking up time, which led her to be frustrated. We thanked her for taking the time to help answer the questions we had about the menu, and she ignored us, then decided to have a conversation about random things with her coworker. Was very surprised as everyone else is usually very nice. I love to come here before church on Sunday. I try to be in a good mood; however I do love my Carmel coffee. They accidentally overheard vanilla instead of Carmel. I loved the online//app ordering option. There are so many options when picking your drink. I ended up trying one of their rotating lattes (creme brulee) and picked 1/4 sweetener next time I'd like to try 1/2 sweetener. I love that they have the drive thru option as well. I also tried their breakfast burrito which was yummy I just wish it had hashbrowns or potatoes in it. The s'mores donut was good, I love that it wasn't overly sweet.
