The BEST Bike Shop in town!!! In this covid time with limited bike choices, I had to call around to shop for bikes. I spoke with quite a few shops including this one and Greenwich bicycles and got quotes as to what they had in stock. I originally went to Greenwich bicycles because they had a used bike in my price range, and put money down on it. On the day I was going back to pick it up, I decided to pass by this store to follow up with what they had. And boy It's a good thing I did!!! Everyone in there was knowlegeable and greeted my son and I with a family warmth. Frank and John was the BEST!! I was drawn in by their genuine care and attention to detail as to what bikes would be best for us. They measured us up to see what size, proper shoulder width, and other determinations that I didn't even know should be involved in selecting a bike. I learned a lot and was amazed at how detail oriented they were. I also appreciated how honest they were in their recommendations, in regards to what we were looking for. Not just Frank and John, but their whole team is GREAT! I winded up not buying the used one from the other shop and bought a brand new one from them! My 12 year old son bought a second hand bike (with his savings and some borrowed money) so when the brakes didn't work as well as he had been hoping, we took the bike to River Bikes. I was dreading what it would set us back to get it right but Frank sensed our concerns and went to work on the bike, fixing the brakes, and doing a full service, which was much more than we anticipated. I know he undercharged us, but we now have a very happy boy. And for me, how often have you walked out of a repair shop (car or bike) and not come out feeling you have been ripped off? Virtually never. Frank appears to be a sole proprietor and from our limited experience, he runs a great business where he really cares about his customers. Frank is a great mechanic who charges fairly and always makes sure that the job is done right. He doesn't try to up sell customers but focuses on giving great value and service. I'm an avid rider who has purchased bikes and a number of equipment upgrades from him and have never been disappointed. 12/12/20 Update- If I could give Frank more than 5 stars I would. I recently had my frame and fork refinished by the manufacturer. Frank handled the dismantling of my bike and shipping out to the manufacturer. While it was there he went over all components replaced and serviced everything and when the frame came pack, had it all put back together, thoroughly checked over and ready for me in 1-1/2 days! River Bicycles retrofitted my bicycle to adapt to my needs. Years ago I rode with handle bars low, leaning forward into the wind. Now, however, my neck and shoulders rebel at that angle.
