The staff are really kind and informative. They're not bland either -- with zero personality. Cristiana always pays attention to my daughter, which most adults would never do, and she loves going because of it. A lot of time hardcore bicycle experts can be condescending and Danny's staff is very helpful without a hint of looking down on casual riders. I highly value their knowledge and competence, too. They have no shame in charging astronomical amounts for something you can get done for 3 times less outside Westchester. I was charged $270 for changing changing tires and another totally minor thing that I can't remember now. Guess what, I didn't have time to call around but I later did and found places that would charge me $90 for the exact same thing. Danny has no shame whatsoever ! On top of that they lied to me when I asked if they could change my speed shifters by saying everything needed to be changed and would cost me $300 . I did not believe as at that point truly felt like I was being ripped off. Disgusting lies, truly. Now that I moved to France and brought the bike to InterSport , they changed thé same thing for 5,99€ !!! And didn't even charge for work. This is a difference of $290 . They told us cost $50-$60 for a 21 speed bike however when I brought it in th changed it to $100 unbelievable avoid a at all cost I'm adding this part after seeing comments from the company posted below my review. I wish I could give 0 stars to the RYE BROOK location. I just got back from that location and that was a VERY UPSETTING situation. We were in line waiting, which is NO PROBLEM AT ALL, I totally understand the situation we are in and I don't expect to be helped right away! After waiting SAM was that one that talked to us and said he would bring some options out. We had to wait for another 20min or so and Sam got ONLY ONE bike outside because he said we COULD NOT go inside. The day before I had seen they had just got a truck load of new bikes and I knew they had some other ones including the one I wanted. However, Sam said it was ALL SOLD. Since his suggestion wasn't what I was looking for I just decided to pay for some other little things I was getting. When I went to pay the rules changed and suddenly I could go inside to pay. SO INTERESTING. When I got inside I saw the bike I wanted and I double checked with Sam to see if it was really sold and he said that one wasn't, which I was already so upset because if I hadn't asked He wouldn't even have checked. Went I started looking into it he started saying over and over that the bike was more expensive than the one he suggested. "This one is more expensive", "this one is $800", "This is $100 dollars more than the one I've showed you". In no instance I've mention that price was an issue so I wasn't sure why he was making such a point. He didn't say anything else and didn't even bother to get the bike out to show me or mentioned any other features of the bike. Sam walked away and didn't say anything else. So by this TERRIBLE customer service I decided not to buy the bike I WENT THERE TO BUY. I just couldn't buy with SAM and his horrible service. It felt like he was doing me a favor and it was very upsetting. I know things are crazy right now and they are very busy but that shouldn't interfere in how you treat your customers specially if they want to spend over $1000. Being busy should never be an excuse specially if you are making money. They just lost a sale of a bike and all it's accessories plus ALL my network of people because I will NOT recommend. Went to their Scarsdale location on Sunday (they were already closed)....knocked on the door, talked to Charlie; Charlie checked the inventory, referred me to their Rye store; called Rye store on Tuesday (they are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays); Joe answered the phone, performed transaction over the phone in less than 5 min; my son had his new bicycle available in 45 min!!! Went in last week with a Specialized Roubaix that I bought elsewhere. Electronic shifters were not working, well-misaligned. Expected to drop off bike and pay a NYC-level service charge. Not at all! They were very friendly, and took bike right in back and carefully adjusted while I waited. Mechanic clearly knew what he was doing, turned out that front deraileur was installed improperly by the high-end NJ shop (nameless) that i bought it from. 20 min later, and I was out on the road again. Danny's is like a local bike shop ought to be, they treated me fantastically well even though I didn't buy the bike from them. Yes, no blood circulation issues here to report... lol. Back to my review. The Team Of Bike Pro's & Staff at Danny's Cycles at Rye Brook, N.Y brought my MTB back to "LIFE." They provided "Excellent" customer Bike Service Knowledge & Experienced Diagnosis, by recommending I purchase their PREMIUM-TUNE-UP PACKAGE, which includes; *Gear & Break Adjustments-*Minor Wheel Truing-*Re-Torque All Bolts & Fasteners-*Fully Degrease Drivetrain:Chain-Chainrings & Cassette-*Bearing Check & Adjust Hubs-*Headset & Bottom Bracket-*Plus, Detailed Wipe Down Of Frame & Wheels + Overall Safety Inspection. Really disappointing experience. Brought my bike in knowing it needed a heavy tune-up. The main gentleman working on it shared it would be around $300. After discussing further, I told him my bottom line was $350, I would not go over that. It included a fair amount of work, was told new grips would be installed. I'm given a pick-up date of 1.5 weeks later, not too bad considering the time of year and the pandemic, and I've been a long time customer of Danny's so I'm expecting this caliper of work and customer service. However, when I try to pick it up on the due date, the bike isn't ready. No-one told me this, a phone-call telling me it was late would have saved me a trip. I get a call THREE days after it's due for pick up, guy tells me it needs another almost $50 worth of work and has an attitude when I asked when I could expect it since it's late already. What am I going to do in this scenario? They've got me by the short hairs. I say ok, thinking the right thing to do is not charge me for that sneaky addition considering the lateness. I pick it up 3 days late. Bike has no new grips, is filthier than when I dropped off, and on my first ride derails, TWICE. I bring it back just hoping they can make an adjustment so the chain doesn't slip. While I'm there I share that no new grips were put on. Guy replies "well it wasn't charged on the receipt" and doesn't say it nicely. The receipt was illegible with only numbers and labor charges so there is no way for me to see this wasn't charged (bad sign at any business), plus it was agreed upon as part of the work that wasn't done. Charges me another $30 to put the new grips on. A $430 tune-up and awful customer service later, my bike continues to derail. Last time at Danny's, what an outrageous disappointment. read more

Somewhere between 40 - 50 years ago, when my daughters were small I bought myself a Raleigh bike at a local bike shop in Rye NY. It was really too big for me, so it didn't get a lot of use. It sat in my garage getting older and dustier. Now, my oldest grandson is 16, taller than I ever was, with legs perhaps 6" longer than mine. He and the bike are the right size for each other. On Saturday morning we (my grandson, the bike and I) went to Danny's Cycles in Rye Brook -- where we saw Jesse -- to see if: (1) The bike and the grandson were really the right size for each other; (2) What was needed to put the bike into first class condition; (3) What that would cost; (4) Whether it made sense to invest in the bike; and, if so, how long it would take to have it repaired and ready. We were told by Jesse: (1) The bike was a good bike; (2) My grandson and the bike were size-compatible; (3) It made more sense to service it than to trade it in on a new bike; (4) What it needed was a complete tune up as well as two new tires and inner tubes; (4) What it would cost; and (5) It would be ready by Wednesday -- some four days later. Well, it wasn't ready Wednesday. It was ready one day later than we brought it in -- Sunday afternoon. Nice! My grandson and I went to pick it up, and he's now happily riding it. It was an altogether perfect experience. We're happy in every way. This is not our first experience with Danny's, we've bought multiple bikes from them for our grandsons as they've graduated from smaller to bigger. And every experience has been a winner. We've always gotten good advice and good service. We'll be back again. read more

I have been meaning to purchase a bicycle for exercise and decided to make my purchase at Danny's cycles in Rye Brook . When I went to the store all seemed ok regarding customer service. Raphael was very helpful and patient with me. My total bill was way over $800 all that was fine as I knew how much the bike I wanted would cost me. Anyway, while Raphael was getting my bike ready I over heard at least 2 customers being offered discounts! I even joked with Raphael asking him if I would be getting a discount he said no! ok , I didn't go there expecting one but had to wonder how come people were getting random discounts. Finally, at the end after I paid my bill the manager comes in and told the cashier to give another gentleman a discount so I said what about me? Do I not deserve a discount too after spending this much money? the manager told me to come outside! as if I'm his child he reprimanded me telling me I called him out in front of this man omg! Really, I did? He told me some story about why he gave a discount to this man. I didn't care why. The first 2 people did not spend half of what I spent it was weird. One of the 2 customers got a discount on water bottle. I also purchased a water bottle among other items. It was especially weird to me when he out right told me that he told Raphael not to give me a discount because he was spending too much time with me. REALLY MR MANAGER? WERE YOU KIDDING? This is the very reason why someone like myself would go off thinking oh maybe it's because I'm a black person why the staff was told not to give me a discount. You know what, I'm better than that if that was your thinking shame on you, such BS!!!! now I'm so pissed I don't even want the bike anymore. Raphael is a very polite young man he was doing his job. I had to tell the manager that I can't put a bike together him telling me that Raphael was taking too much time with me was not my fault. I think he needs to think before he speaks as he made no sense . It was not about you when I said how come I was not offered a discount. It just didn't look right or sound right giving random discounts to people who were spending way less than I was. Ha! I saw with my eyes, thankfully I went into that store knowing I could afford the bike I wanted with or without a discount. I was very hesitant to make my purchase in Rye Brook because of that bad reviews I went in because of the distance. I personally would like Raphael to know that I appreciated his patience and kind service. What the manager fail to understand is that purchasing a bike should not be rushed getting the bike ready for me took time which was no fault of my own. I don't assemble bikes or know anything about setting one up so the comment by the manager that he ordered Raphael not to give me a discount was rather stupid! Raphael has the qualities of a Manager he should be promoted. A discount was offered to me in the end but I refused it, my reason for writing this is to let the manager and the employees know that showing favoritism to certain customers will cause you to loose business treat all your customers with the same level of care and consideration not saying to give discounts to everyone the attitude of the manager today was not professional. read more

Very disappointed that I was told my bike needed $155 in repairs including new gear shifters (clearly only one was damaged), chain and new tires. I didn't think it was worth it, so I took it to Dave's bike shop in Greenwich to make sure. Dave immediately fixed the one gear shifter with a small piece it needed (it did not need an entire new shifter), he said the tires were in pretty good shape and he made a few adjustments to the chain. I only take spinning classes right now, but I mentioned that I might start riding outdoors once it is warmer. He was able to tell me what I should look for in a bike, what the price will most likely be for a decent one (and told me when they will probably have their next sale), and how many years I should expect to get out of a bike. I totally appreciate the information overload and that he didn't pressure me into buying something (in fact he kind of insured that I didn't make an unnecessary purchase). Danny's in Rye Brook is my go to bike shop. I travel extra miles to visit Dio and his team of pros. Customer service is friendly, fantastic and a one-on-one experience. Any issues with my bike are thoroughly explained and I never feel that I'm being over-sold. They catch issues that I would not normally see and are always concerned about safety. Can't beat the unlimited tune-ups when you purchase your bike from Danny's. My next new bike (hopefully soon) will certainly be from Danny's in Rye Brook. I was referred to Danny's and went in to buy a bike for my son because this was the closest location to my house. As one of the employees began to help me I couldn't help overhear the manager yelling expletives about another customer into his cell phone while he paced around the store. While the employee was explaining the features of the bike the manager distracted the guy who was helping us multiple times. We ended up leaving and going to the Scarsdale location the next day (much bigger selection) and had a much better experience. Love Danny's, dislike this location. read more

I've been buying my bikes from Danny's since I was a kid 40 years ago. In the past year I've both two bikes for my sons and just went with my wife to buy one for her. Dio helped her and he was awesome. He asked her a ton of questions and then picked a bike he said was perfect for her. Then let her test ride it and several other bikes. She agreed that the bike Dio picked was perfect but she wasn't sure about the color. So he ordered the bike in another color so she could see them both side-by-side and choose one. Dio is the man! Great customer service. No wonder I have been a customer for 40 years! read more
