I'm reviewing only on the steakhouse and bar area of the River Edge Resort and Steakhouse... I was visiting some friends in Alberton and we stopped by River Edge as this is their go to resto to grab some drinks and watch sporting events at the bar. The bar area is stocked with booze for well drinks and they had some nice IPAs on tap. There's plenty of flat screens to catch a game on. There's a cabin feel as the bar, wall and furniture is mainly wood. The huge glass windows allow for a nice view of the river. There's a 'casino' section that houses some video slots and video poker games. We sat at the bar and our bartender/server was really friendly and always smiling. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was fantastic. Quality beef to a perfect medium, generous cheese and a fresh bun. I was pleasantly surprised and my friends loved their cheeseburgers as well. Fantastic. Next time I'm in the area visiting my friends, I have every intention of trying the patty melt after this great cheeseburger experience. I hope the kitchen keeps up the great work. We live near. We stopped in for lunch. The supposed 1/2 pound burger was not only WAY less than a half pound, but cold, tasteless and not juicy. The fries tasted like old oil. Sad to say. We stopped at this tiny rv spot, they had a great restaurant with very friendly staff and great tasting food. After supper we went to go check out the shower house/laundry room. I would say they could use some adjustments and updating in those facilities. Otherwise was a very great atmosphere, they had a newly built outside dining area with a great overlooking of the river also a fireplace. The restaurant serves food all day, we had supper and breakfast all was very delicious but the chicken fried steak was our favorite. Can even watch the trains go by while you are eating your meal, how fun! The steak was so tender and melted in your mouth. Been coming here for years as a local. Food has been a huge turn around since the addition of polished management. Staff is friendly, and a good sized menu that offers something for everyone. The burgers are more than satisfactory-- they're always on point, moist and delicious, as are the fries which have good texture and crunch. Osso bucco is delicious. Fish and chips are better than those in montana. It's a great place to stop while on the road or finish after a float. Mind you, this is mineral county, not an urban installation. Our first time here since it changed management and we were very pleasantly surprised. The outdoor area is beautifully landscaped now with a bonfire seating area and a new sunroom overlooking the river. We came for lunch and again, were pleasantly surprised by the extended menu. Service was great. I had the French dip sandwich and my friend had the patty melt. One with onion rings and the other with sweet potato fries-- all were cooked just right and full of flavor. My only complaint was that the coffee was not very good- maybe it had been on the hot plate too long or watered down- I don't know. Stayed at the resort for a weekend and ended up eating almost every meal at the steakhouse! Food was delicious and the chef always had amazing specials. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. DANGER: DO NOT GO ON NEW YEARS EVE!!!! So we planned our New Years Eve based on an ad they posted on Facebook. Rented a room at their hotel so we didn't have to drive. Had dinner in the restaurant. And drinks afterward in the bar. The entire night was planned around this place. Food was 4 star (not bad - but not great). Very expensive. But hey...this was New Years Eve so we didn't mind splurging. The bar had Karaoke afterward. Bar service sucked big time. But Karaoke was a good show. Everybody (including us) was having a good time. New Years Eve so the traditional countdown came at midnight. Toasted. Kissed. And then..... "Last call for alcohol everybody!" WT actual F???? It's New Years Eve!!! Midnight. They kicked us out!!! Totally ruined our New Years Eve!! After waiting at the bar to close my tab a REALLY long time, I finally had to take off my hat and waved in the air to get the attention of the bartender. Even that wasn't enough. I had to yell and wave to get her to look at me. Asked her if all the bars in Alberton closed at midnight. She said "well...technically we're not a bar - we are a restaurant so..." But we had a good time right up until midnight. At that point I told the wife "I've only had 5 beers in 4 hours and we're not far from home - let's just go home." Never even slept in the bed. We were so distraught we just packed our bags back in the car and drove home. Spent over $200 for "half a night out" Another "should have been 5 stars" night completely ruined by poor service and really really bad business choices of the management. Shame on you, River's Edge. Charming rustic de Service was friendly but coffee refills and whether you get silverware or not was hit/miss. Overall, staff at the facility did not seem like happy people... One working dryer, and laundry facilities are in use by motel/restaurant staff daily. Sites are very close together and patio/"River trail" are fenced off, under very slow construction. My husband and I hadn't been here since new management and were very excited to see all the new improvements including the outdoor river view patio area. Just breathe taking! We were not disappointed! The view was a 10 out of 10, very romantic atmosphere. The meals were also 10 out of 10, maybe even an 11! We ordered the roasted Brussels for our appetizers and the Pork Osso Bucco, and Fillets of Trout for our entrees. It felt like we at a 5 star Michelin restaurant! Our server Yvonne was AMAZING! She answered all of our questions with the highest level of professionalism. She was never far when we needed anything at all. All in all this if my new favorite date night spot! My husband and I had dinner there last night. He had steak which was fine. I had shrimp scampi which was horrid. Supposed to be linguine but looked like angel hair and was soaked in oil (like vegetable oil) and was brown and tasteless. No butter or seasoning and shrimp were overcooked and also soaked in oil. River's Edge Resort & Steakhouse in Alberton MT has a rustic yet beautiful CAMPGROUND - although it has a few full campers that look like squatters. The restaurant has great food. Great service. The bartenders Cassie and Denise were AWESOME! The motel/lodge rooms are clean however they have no place to hang clothes. There was a hall tree in the room but nowhere to hang a dress or sport coat. The water does not get warm. And the little warm it does get takes 20 minutes to get to room temperature. The CheckIn people are very inconsiderate. We asked to use the showers in the campground because there was no hot water and they refused. My 92 year old dad could NOT take a warm shower and the campground was NOT sold out. Then they wouldn't let us stay another night in the lodge - even though there were only 2 guests. Might want to reconsider when booking. read more

So here we are on the rivers bank, there is LOTS of small trash and cigarette butts all over the property and down by the beach. The staff is very friendly and nice the restaurant is very clean. Camping for a tent is about $30 with access to a bathroom and shower. There are about 15 maybe 20 RV sites with full hook up and used mostly by local rednecks with heavyset wife's none which are friendly and will give you the time a day let alone a hello. All the campsites have a picnic table and fire pit. I did not eat in the restaurant but it looks like most entrées are about $13-$20. There is what Montana cause a casino which consists of about 15 slot machines that show no mercy. read more

Excellent meal on a stop just off route 90 right next to the river. The food was really outstanding even if the place could use a bit of tidying up. My prime rib was tasty and tender and came with soup or a salad (got a salad) and I got amazing big juicy onion rings for a side as we had delicious stuffed potatoe skins for an appy. Daughter got a perfectly cooked bison cheeseburger and hubby got the grilled chicken both which were spot on! Glad we stopped here for a bite on our way to Missoula! read more

You would expect a great Montana beef burger, but no. The menu said it was a 1/2 lb beef patty... but it wasn't. It was obviously a preformed frozen patty that was very dry and hardly anything to it. This place is hit or miss depending on when you go. The breakfast is good ( but seriously it IS hard to mess up eggs and sausage)) Ive had dinner there numerous times, sometimes its good others its Meh. For a very short time they offered a pulled pork slider with huckleberries but no more . But since it IS literally the ONLY restaurant for 30 miles in any direction, if you want to eat out its the only choice. I will say however that the MOTEL is very nice, much nicer than expected. We arrived at 3:00 pm for an overnight stay in our 41' fifth wheel at back in RV site #10 at the end of August where the temperatures were in the high 80's. The site was clean and hookups were easy to access. We had a river view from our site which would have been great if the sun wasn't beating directly into the side facing our fifth wheel. If you don't have great AC and an large awning on the passenger side of your rig, don't stay at RV Site 10! The heat will be unbearable. All other RV sites have shade, this one does not. The reason for my 3 star review is while making our reservation before hand we expressed our concerns to them of the difficulty maneuvering our large fifth wheel and full size bed dually truck if there was not enough room to manipulate our vehicle in order to place the fifth wheel in our space. They advertise on their website they can accommodate larger sized RVs which is why we initially selected this place. However, when we arrived and after walking the route to RV site 10, my husband identified the best way to #10 that would place the fifth wheel facing the direction we needed to be (hookups on the correct side) we would have to the go through an empty RV site to get there. Had those campers been there we would have needed someone to move or do a complete 180 deg turn to get into RV site 10 from the access path in order to face the correct direction. Unfortunately, going the better route, we still caught a small corner of the back bumper to our fifth wheel on a tree when my husband fell into a small dip in the path through the empty RV site that tilted our rig just slightly enough to catch the tree. Fortunately, we arrived before other RVs arrived which allowed us the space we needed or we would have been forced to park somewhere overnight. Just FYI there is nothing in the area except 30 minutes away. After driving 6 hours trying to locate another spot to accommodate our large rig seemed slim at best. After stressing how important it was to verify before arrival, neither the person on the phone or at check in seemed concerned that the route to RV Site 10 was difficult to maneuver around trees, through dips in our route to get there, and other campers already set up which is the other reason for my 3 star review. No one came out to help either after my husband talked to the woman that checked us in. Lastly, the railroad is across the water. It wasn't crazy loud but if you're a light sleeper I would recommend somewhere else. The only other issue we had was that the RVs that came in later sped up their packing process the following morning after recognizing how in the world we were going to have to make a sharp turn and maneuver around them to get out. We didn't eat at the restaurant or use any of the facilities so I can't comment on that. We had planned on having dinner there but after the lackadaisical response we received throughout we decided to go to Outback Steakhouse 30 minutes down the highway. Great meal and service btw! Ordered Takeout from home,in the Nine Mile valley and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, Got to the restaurant 20 minutes after call and had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get my order, Got home and found that the fries were raw and one of the 2 burgers was raw. Bar/restaurant was pretty clean and well laid out. Waitress was jovial, well mannered and knowledgeable. Price was fair for the items we ordered. Arrived at 1:00 PM and was given a brunch menu. A party of four ordered three different meals. Biscuits and Gravy: Biscuits, while prepared well, and tasted fine, gave me the impression of a production style biscuit from the bread aisle, nothing special. The gravy, however, was excellent. No salt or pepper needed. Added sausage Pattie's, bacon and eggs, all prepared well. Chicken Fried Steak: Actual prime rib steak, tenderized and breaded in house, after it was ordered. Gravy was again, excellent, as well. Side of home style fried potatoes, browned well, and cooked through. Very good. French Dip: Thinly sliced prime rib, seared in Au Jus, on a toasted bun, plain(options for onions and mushrooms). One of the best I've ever tasted. The atmosphere was pretty neat and the menu was very diverse. To start we got the battered portobellos and they were pretty good, they were really hot so you know they just came out of the grease. The huckleberry bbq was a little strange and had the consistency of a thick mayonnaise. We went with the elk burgers because they sounded good. They are smoked. The presentation and LTO was definitely generous, but the burger itself was a bit dry and hard. This was accompanied by the fact that our server seemed like she was in the weeds and having a hard time and couldn't refill our drinks for a while so we had to sit and choke down dry burgers without anything to wash it down. Hit and miss. My wife had a fried chicken sandwich the other day and it was great, we made a to go order today and I thought I would have the same since it was so good the other day. What I got was night and day. The chicken breast was old and hard with no breading and the lettuce was old and wilted. I know that keeping fresh ingredients out here is a challenge but better to say you don't have an item is better than losing business over a nasty chicken sandwich. Whoever is monitoring quality control over their needs to step up. read more

I cut into my steak immediately (don't let it rest, continues to cook!!) and it was medium. No fleshy look anywhere. I was bummed bc it was seasoned to perfection and a great cut. I told Kayla and she happily said they'll redo. The second steak that came out was the thinnest steak I've ever seen especially for a rib eye. It was probably medium well bc it was so thin. I tried a bite was so chewy w veins I had to spit it out. I heard the table behind me have an issue w their steak cooked as well so maybe just an off night for the chef - it happens! Out in the middle of nowhere Montana, this place serves absolutely one best meals ever! Our table had portobello mushrooms, mac-n-cheese with steak, and "to die for" pork shank with garlic mash and corn. Three entrees for 5 of us because we saw the desert tray on the way in. Huckleberry cheesecake, a very large chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cake, and a red velvet cake. Every bite of each dish was pure heaven!!! Friendly, attentive service was excellent too! read more

We arrived early to your park about 1 PM. The check in was 3 PM firm. In all are stays at RV Parks this was the first time we have not been accommodated. We decided to move up the road to your competition and will do so from now on. Your sites were not even close to being level and to my estimate would be very difficult to acomiday my larger RV. There was a 5th Wheel that arrived seconds before us with the same result but decided to stay grabbing any stop available also having a difficult time leveling. We were stay at your park because of the restaurant. Needless to say the restaurant which was good has lost business for that day and any future business from us. Good to great RV Parks and Restaurants are a dime a dozen within 30 miles in any direction. My intent is to contest this charge and copy this review on Yelp. read more

I really like this restaurant. Its right on the Clark Fork River. Camp sites very nice and an older motel is available to rent rooms as well. Owner a very nice guy. Casino on premise. They even have an old, crooked as hell shuffleboard table back by bathrooms in casino area of restaurant. Full bar with a few wine selections. Nice and friendly bartenders. A few tv's to watch game. Food here is usually good. I love their salad bar. Steaks are all good except prime rib. The prime rib is not good at all and why I deducted one star. Everything else on menu is great. You can buy liquor here to go as well! One of the overall best restaurants in the area, if not the best! We will be back every time we head towards eastern Montana! read more
