    Bloody Mary

There is a lot of upside to this place and overall, the best diner in Vancouver. I got the breakfast platter $17.50 and a Bloody Mary $10 and it was good. Service was good and the venue was nice with parking.

Great experience! First time here and I was impressed. The menu was easy to navigate, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I loved the traditional breakfast options. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and the best part was how incredibly clean everything was. They've been around for several years, yet the place looks like it just opened. Amazing cleanliness, open space, and a great overall vibe. I'm a fan!

I wanted to love this place so very much. I'm in love with their mission to give proceeds to Meals on Wheels. The place was clean, our waiter was attentive & friendly. The fries were pretty good but the hamburger (Western BBQ) was by far the worst burger I've ever had. I'd just come from a medical procedure that requires fasting so I hadn't eaten in over 28 hours so I was famished. Anything would have been delicious, but both the bacon & the smashed burger patties were so over cooked that not only were they dry, but had that bitter burnt flavor. The onion rings on the burger were good (I ate them separately). After 2 bites I decided to take the burger home to see if adding more of my own BBQ sauce would help, but it didn't, I'm afraid. I would give the restaurant another try, but would steer clear of trying a burger again.

Had breakfast here a few days ago. So good! We were given a cheerful greeting and promptly seated. This place is reminiscent of an old-timey diner with cute decor. The pancakes were light and fluffy and my corned beef hash was filled with tasty veggies, potatoes and corned beef. Coffee was pretty good too! We'll be back. Our favorite thing was that it supports Meals on Wheels!

I visited once before for brunch years ago and decided to give it another try again over the weekend. It was a little busy when I arrived and it took a few minutes to be seated. Cute and small diner, very clean. I had to wait a bit for the waitress to come take my order. The items ordered was the French toast and also the chicken pasta. The pasta was good. Very creamy and not bland but not overpowering. The French toast was not that impressive. Thick but not crispy. It tasted like plain toast and the powdered sugar and maple syrup barely helped. I do love that some of their proceeds go to meals on wheels so I will definitely come by to try other items. Maybe I'll have better luck next time around.

This was our first visit to The Diner Vancouver. I was surprised that the proceeds go to support Meals on Wheels and they are dedicated to making sure seniors don't go hungry and have social needs met at the restaurant as well. Even if they didn't have that goodness going for them I would highly recommend them! The food was generous and delicious. My husband and I both got veggie omelettes. He added mushrooms and spinach to his. I had mine regular and loved it. Big generous chunks of onion, bell pepper and tomato. I opted for an "cream biscuit" with mine ($1.50 extra) and it was worth it! It tasted homemade-in a good way. I also liked the "country potatoes" that came with our eggs. They were thinly sliced in rounds with a hint of garlic. Sooooo yummy and a nice change from hash browns or other potato options at breakfast spots. Come give this place a try! I think you'll like it too!

Super sweet server, very clean restaurant (including restroom) and ample servings of delicious foods! I had the traditional eggs Benedict which were expertly prepared with a very nice hollandaise sauce and came with a mountain of tender and flavorful breakfast potatoes. My dining companion had biscuits and gravy, which were okay but I've had better. They offer country gravy or bacon gravy; we sampled the country but perhaps the bacon is the way to go. Next time. Really positive experience overall.

Excellent lunch today with very tasty sandwiches loaded up with crispy, delicious Bacon, tomato, lettuce. Fries are huge portions and very good. Excellent service even when busy & we sat at the breakfast bar since tables were full & service was great!

Great food and great service. Additionally their proceeds go to a Meals on Wheels program that I love to support.

It was my favorite pizza! And even an emotional, yes emotional connection to this pizza. If you've ever had it, you'd know just how incredible this pizza is. Welp, fast forward 40 years. I've lived all over. Settled in Camas, WA. Never finding a pizza that is even close to HomePlace.... Well SOB!! I found it at Barrel Mountain! I took a bite... All my childhood memories rushing back. The crust, the flavor, the crispness and fluffiness in the crust. A tear is shed as I look across the table to my wife as she asks... well, similar to HomePlace (for the 109th time). OMG.. it's the same babe! Ahhhh! just overjoyed! The server (Desere) comes around... how y'all doing? I shed another tear and ask... have you ever been to Silverton, OR? Yes! she replies. I ask - you ever been to HomePlace Pizza? She responds, yes!! and did you know that Don who is the owner of HomePlace taught us EXACTLY how to make that pizza here?!? He taught us how to make the crust, the cooking time, the sit time and even the oven! My jaw drops! I knew it! It is HomePlace pizza! Long story short... Desere is an AMAZING and the friendliness server! And yes, hands down best Pizza on this side of the river! My soul is complete

We both agreed this is the last time we'll come here. We came in and were greeted and immediately seated by the host. He was friendly and welcoming. They weren't super busy, but busy enough for a Saturday lunch crowd. It took him awhile to get our drink order, so when he finally came to take it, we went ahead and ordered our food as well. We decided on the bacon cheeseburger with chips, and the reuben with fries ($3.50 extra for fries). I've never understood the extra cost for fries vs homemade potato chips?! The chips have been hit or miss in the past, so we usually order fries for one entree just in case. Our food took about 45 minutes. Seemed way too long. Our server never came back and asked for refills on beverages during our visit either, which was disappointing. My burger looked good, but super greasy, even the bun was greasy on top. Maybe it was brushed with butter?! The burger dripped with grease while eating it. The chips were saturated in grease as well. Some of them so much they weren't crispy at all. Our server was nowhere to be found or I would have complained. They were left on the plate. My husband didn't like them either. He ended up sharing his fries with me. My husband liked his reuben, but the bread was burnt on the bottom. You couldn't tell at first look, only once it was picked up to eat. It had plenty of meat, cheese, peppers and onions. He enjoyed it overall. The fries were good too. Much better than the chips. The restaurant was clean when we walked in, but during our visit many tables were left dirty for far too long. Not sure if they were in the middle of a shift change, but it seemed like no one was around to clear plates or refill beverages. Someone from the kitchen eventually came out to get us our bill. Our plates were still on the table when we left. Overall a disappointing experience. There are far too many restaurant options in this area to spend $65 on lunch for mediocre, at best, food and service. We will not be returning.

We grabbed seats at the bar & ordered beers from the tap, then perused the refrigerators. There was a smaller selection that I had anticipated but there were numerous beers and breweries that I didn't recognize so I appreciated what they did have to offer. We sat back at the bar and a few mins later, the bartender let us know it was last call for the kitchen. We didn't get food so I can't speak to that but there were a few things on the menu that I would order next time. I thought the service was fine, nothing to write home about. Music was playing, the back wall was stacked with board games and card decks, people seemed to be having a nice time. I'm sure I'll be back to see what new offerings they have in the cold section. Note - it will cost extra $ to have them open the beer you purchase from the fridge. It's totally common practice for a bottle shop but can be off putting if you don't expect to pay to drink the beer you just bought. Cheers!
