It's not ideal if you want to be close to a more metropolitan, walkable area, and being right on the creek means there can be quite a few bugs, especially in the evening. The property is distinctly divided into to major buildings...the hotel and the bar. There is a random small building up front also...not sure what that buildings for. There is also outdoor seating, which would be pleasant in the summer. Last night we had freezing temperatures, so sub-optimal for seating outside. When we entered the bar, we felt transported to another place in time. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We listened to the 3 person band, who sang music from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley and so many different genres in between. What a lovely evening...date night score!

I believe there's over 500 animals here, which is insane! For the drive thru safari specifically, the animals will come to your car and you have the opportunity to get up close and personal to them. If you have food, they are very assertive in getting some and may get food and spit in your car, so be prepared for that. The animals that came up to our car included deer, ostriches, alpacas, moose, and zebras. Outside of the drive thru safari, they also have a petting zoo. They have capybaras here (which I'm a big fan of) so we also paid to see and pet them! Overall, a super fun experience if you're an animal lover. The tickets are also pretty affordable which is another plus.

The breakfast attendant -- who was absolutely wonderful and clearly managing a full house -- would quietly lower the volume again, clearly trying to keep the atmosphere calm and enjoyable for guests. No one appeared to be watching the television; most of us were simply trying to enjoy breakfast and conversation. What was particularly puzzling was that the front desk employee continued returning to the breakfast area, even going back into the kitchen, which seemed inappropriate, and turning the volume back up each time. At one point, she raised her voice at the breakfast attendant, which I found unnecessary and unprofessional. I genuinely felt bad for the breakfast staff member, who handled the situation with patience and grace. In my many years of travel, I have never stayed at a hotel where the television in the breakfast area had the volume turned up. It is always muted and caption only, if it is on at all, and the front desk staff typically stay out of breakfast operations entirely. It's unfortunate, because aside from this situation, our stay was otherwise enjoyable. With better coordination and respect for staff roles, this would be a place I could recommend.
