Different industry, different practices. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get paid. Today the director explained they pay 30-45 days following performances based on frequency (recurring versus first time).

There are no "bad apartments" that I can see. -Contracts and policies are reasonable and senior friendly. Believe me, you should check this all carefully to avoid any nasty surprises. The building is beautiful with its landscaped courtyards and spacious and immaculate resident rooms. The staff is highly professional and caring with a wonderful sense of humor. I would go so far as to say they have treated our family like family. Cora in admissions worked with us to explain the finances and answer all questions. She's stepped back in when finances became tighter. Amber, the Executive Director has always shown us kindness and compassion and gone to bat for our family. The maintenance staff got Grandpa's TV working a few times so he could continue to watch his baseball. They then moved Grandpa's hospital bed over to Grandma's room and set it up for us when he passed. Sandra, the director of the Memory Care Unit is such a loving leader to the residents and her staff. The Christmas party for residents, staff and family was so generous and fun. It's so hard to not be able to see Grandma in person because of COVID-19 and it makes it even more important to know that the staff in the memory care unit treats Grandma as if she were their own Grandma. I thank the Lord that we found them.

What concerned me most, however, were the subtle but unmistakable racial undertones in the interactions--particularly in the difference between how I was treated compared to the other guest.

Because our house has been in complete disarray for so long because of this man, we cancelled our plans for that night and waited. He never showed UNTIL the next morning - SUNDAY MORNING!(no call, no text to let us know he wasn't coming Saturday- he just came by banging on the door at 9am on Sunday) He came in looked around like he had forgotten what the place looked like and said he would be finished by next Friday. Well guess what?!? He never showed. Again. So here we go again with the texting and calling. Finally he does answer and texts me he had another job and would be by after he finishes this other job. And that brings us to today. He has not answered and I have to assume is just taking off with our $ now. Update- It has now been over 6 months and no word from this guy and he's changed his number. Not sure what to do...
