Both my parents have been in Querencia for about 5 years. They love it. When it is my time, I hope I can afford this facility.

Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. I was recommended to them from my surgeon after I found out that my husband could not be present that day. I met one of the head folks over there, Deborah, and she was just lovely and warm as can be. She wanted to make sure they could fulfill my needs, and booked someone to see me through my first day and someone else to see me through the night. Both ladies were superb, very knowledgable, but also very supportive and encouraging through my difficult day. Everyone was on time and ready to help with my every need, from making note of all of my medications and foreseeing any events that might arise. I wasn't ready to shower yet but I know they would have helped me with that as well. I will probably need more help after another procedure and I wouldn't hesitate to call them. I could tell that they really cared about my comfort and about me as a person. I can see them doing great work in on ongoing situation with a person who might need regular home care, as well as on a situational basis. Thanks to all of you wonderful ladies!

I cannot praise Elmcroft Assisted Living on Menchaca enough…read more Grandpa lived in the Assisted Living side till he passed away. Grandma lives in the memory care unit. They are HEROS! I would go so far as to say they have treated our family like family. Cora in admissions worked with us to explain the finances and answer all questions. She's stepped back in when finances became tighter. Amber, the Executive Director has always shown us kindness and compassion and gone to bat for our family. The maintenance staff got Grandpa's TV working a few times so he could continue to watch his baseball. They then moved Grandpa's hospital bed over to Grandma's room and set it up for us when he passed. Sandra, the director of the Memory Care Unit is such a loving leader to the residents and her staff. The Christmas party for residents, staff and family was so generous and fun. It's so hard to not be able to see Grandma in person because of COVID-19 and it makes it even more important to know that the staff in the memory care unit treats Grandma as if she were their own Grandma. I thank the Lord that we found them.

Another skilled nursing facility full of promises but, in our experience, very little actual care…read more I will say that Longhorn Village is clean and looks much nicer than many other facilities--but do not let appearances fool you. Unless a family member can be there day and night to advocate for your loved one, they may be left sitting in a wet brief, not fed when they require assistance, and isolated behind a closed door. Call buttons often went unanswered, and our loved one was not consistently repositioned or changed in a timely manner. Staffing appeared inadequate on both weekdays and weekends, but the weekends felt like a ghost town. When a medical concern arose, it seemed the immediate response was to send the resident to the hospital instead of first attempting to address the issue in-house. We were then expected to pay approximately $500 per night privately to hold the room during the hospital stay. Otherwise, we were told the resident's belongings could be packed up and the bed released. Families need to ask about this policy and understand the financial consequences in advance. Based on our experience, the facility seemed far more focused on revenue than on attentive, compassionate care or meaningful rehabilitation. We entered with the hope that our loved one would receive consistent care and therapy and regain strength. Instead, we felt we had to monitor every aspect of the care ourselves. Please visit frequently, ask detailed questions, get all financial policies in writing, and do not assume that a beautiful facility guarantees quality care. Beware of the caring and patient demeanor prior to intake - it all falls apart once they have you there. You have 5 days to show that you can do rehab ad then they start charging private pay at $15,500. This is a journey to say the least and I am hopeful that y'all do not have to go through the skilled nursing circus we have been through - they call it "skilled nursing", but they have 1 nurse and the rest are care workers who know very little.

My elderly mother was so let down and disappointed after being told she had a place to go. This place ONLY care about making money.
