Both my parents have been in Querencia for about 5 years. They love it. When it is my time, I hope I can afford this facility.

Another skilled nursing facility full of promises but, in our experience, very little actual care…read more I will say that Longhorn Village is clean and looks much nicer than many other facilities--but do not let appearances fool you. Unless a family member can be there day and night to advocate for your loved one, they may be left sitting in a wet brief, not fed when they require assistance, and isolated behind a closed door. Call buttons often went unanswered, and our loved one was not consistently repositioned or changed in a timely manner. Staffing appeared inadequate on both weekdays and weekends, but the weekends felt like a ghost town. When a medical concern arose, it seemed the immediate response was to send the resident to the hospital instead of first attempting to address the issue in-house. We were then expected to pay approximately $500 per night privately to hold the room during the hospital stay. Otherwise, we were told the resident's belongings could be packed up and the bed released. Families need to ask about this policy and understand the financial consequences in advance. Based on our experience, the facility seemed far more focused on revenue than on attentive, compassionate care or meaningful rehabilitation. We entered with the hope that our loved one would receive consistent care and therapy and regain strength. Instead, we felt we had to monitor every aspect of the care ourselves. Please visit frequently, ask detailed questions, get all financial policies in writing, and do not assume that a beautiful facility guarantees quality care. Beware of the caring and patient demeanor prior to intake - it all falls apart once they have you there. You have 5 days to show that you can do rehab ad then they start charging private pay at $15,500. This is a journey to say the least and I am hopeful that y'all do not have to go through the skilled nursing circus we have been through - they call it "skilled nursing", but they have 1 nurse and the rest are care workers who know very little.

Sent me a text confirming and told the social worker at the hospital it was confirmed. The following day they came back and denied her admission. Stating that they were under the impression she was coming in as " private pay" for long term care, although the text message for admission clearly stated "Longhorn Village Skilled Nursing." My elderly mother was so let down and disappointed after being told she had a place to go. This place ONLY care about making money.

On the contrary, the team at Brush Country, offer a superior level of care, attributed to every aspect of the patients care plan. We have seen my mother-in- law progress to levels of ability, unexpected by the original surgeons. The Brush Country team's dedication, is the exact reason she is as independent as she is today. This is something only a family can dream of, and Brush Country could turn into a reality. The Skilled Nursing Section of the facility is managed cohesively, with a strong underpinning of compassion and motivation to achieve individual goals for their patients. Despite COVID, they never compromised the level of care, ever. We are very grateful to have leaned of this facility and sad to see my mother-in-law leave. But, as a result of the hard work of the team at Brush Country Skilled Nursing, she is now able to live a more independent life.

Brush Country Nursing & Rehabilitation is NOT a safe place for any healthcare workers…read more I am extremely disappointed in Brush Country Nursing and Rehabilitation in Austin. My mother was simply doing her job. caring for SOMEONE ELSE's loved one, when a patient threw HOT COFFEE IN HER FACE. This matter is NOT okay. Healthcare workers dedicate themselves to caring for OTHERS, often in difficult and stressful situations. They deserve to feel safe, protected, and RESPECTED while doing their jobs. Brush Country should be ashamed that someone who goes to work every day to help keep patients safe was put in this position. AND NO, an "incident report" isn't enough action being taken! POINT BLANK PERIOD! My mom along with EVERYBODY DESERVES to be safe & respected. REGARDLESS. Whether or not the patient has a mental illness, anger problems or anything of that nature. Healthcare workers are people too. AGAIN! They deserve safety, respect, and SUPPORT. DO BETTER, BRUSH COUNTRY NURSING & REHABILITATION.

I cannot praise Elmcroft Assisted Living on Menchaca enough…read more Grandpa lived in the Assisted Living side till he passed away. Grandma lives in the memory care unit. They are HEROS! I would go so far as to say they have treated our family like family. Cora in admissions worked with us to explain the finances and answer all questions. She's stepped back in when finances became tighter. Amber, the Executive Director has always shown us kindness and compassion and gone to bat for our family. The maintenance staff got Grandpa's TV working a few times so he could continue to watch his baseball. They then moved Grandpa's hospital bed over to Grandma's room and set it up for us when he passed. Sandra, the director of the Memory Care Unit is such a loving leader to the residents and her staff. The Christmas party for residents, staff and family was so generous and fun. It's so hard to not be able to see Grandma in person because of COVID-19 and it makes it even more important to know that the staff in the memory care unit treats Grandma as if she were their own Grandma. I thank the Lord that we found them.

I would give them a half star if I could. I was admitted…read moreto the "Skilled Nursing" portion of this facility. There was a delay in my getting there so arrived around supper time in May 2024. They brought me to a small room with a bed that had no rails and very little support. The feel was like a hammock, not good for someone right out of the hospital. I was on a restrictive diet yet the first night I was there I was given steak cut up and some sort of sweet potato. I ate it, I was so hungry. A day went by and the next morning I was told they were calling an ambulance to take me back to the emergency room. I had blockage in the intestines. (This was reason for my emergency surgery in the first place!) My biggest complaint was my medications were supposed to be sent to them when I left the hospital. When I inquired, they didn't have them. I had my last pain pill at 2:00 that afternoon. It was now 9:00 p.m., I was told I would have to wait until the pharmacy opened the next morning. I had an incision down the middle of my abdomen and nothing for pain. Horrible and incompetent!! I was finally given medication for the pain 9:30 that morning. I couldn't sleep the pain was so intense. Around 3:00 am I called for the nurse, I was in tears and covered with sweat, my hospital gown and sheets were soaked, and I was chilly. The person who finally came told me they had no other clothes for me to wear. No offer to change the sheets, she got another blanket and threw it over me. The fastest response time was 20 minutes, I know because I watched the clock. I felt frightened and trapped when that door closed, no one came and checked on me on a regular basis. When I was readmitted to the hospital, I felt such relief! I would be taken care of and no longer felt afraid. Be very careful where you send your loved ones. Especially if they are in a weak condition. Sincerely, Beth Pisz

Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention.
