Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. My mom was struggling physically/mentally and would just moan. One caregiver told her to be quiet multiple times. Another one refused to help because she had asked for too much help. One was busy on her phone and didn't bother to put my mom to bed so my mom fell asleep on her recliner. I tried to talk to the person assigned to me for staffing and she didn't answer texts/calls. I cancelled with her because the people that they were sending were so bad, that it was better to have no one. I got no answer till after the weekend and I was told that I needed to give more notice. I explained that I tried to give notice, but that person wasn't answering their phone. They sent one last person out that they claimed was their best and no one had every complained. After that person got my mom to sleep, she turned tv to the station she wanted (in room next to my mom) and then started calling friends on the phone and talking loudly over the tv. Find your own caregivers. Staffing agencies send people that couldn't get jobs on their own.

I would go so far as to say they have treated our family like family. Cora in admissions worked with us to explain the finances and answer all questions. She's stepped back in when finances became tighter. Amber, the Executive Director has always shown us kindness and compassion and gone to bat for our family. The maintenance staff got Grandpa's TV working a few times so he could continue to watch his baseball. They then moved Grandpa's hospital bed over to Grandma's room and set it up for us when he passed. Sandra, the director of the Memory Care Unit is such a loving leader to the residents and her staff. The Christmas party for residents, staff and family was so generous and fun. It's so hard to not be able to see Grandma in person because of COVID-19 and it makes it even more important to know that the staff in the memory care unit treats Grandma as if she were their own Grandma. I thank the Lord that we found them.

The nursing staff comes to see the resident in their apartment. The Grove is centrally located in Austin and has several restaurants within walking distance of the community. The streets are well-lit, and the sidewalks are new and wide enough to accommodate individuals who use walkers or wheelchairs and there seems to be plenty of parking. My 76-year-old father was a resident at Ignite Medical Resort-Round Rock for 10 days before he…read moresuddenly and unexpectedly died overnight while in their care. I will not address the overall quality of care he received during his stay in this review. What I will address is what happened afterward -- or more accurately, what did not happen. At 1:30 a.m. on the morning of his death, I received a phone call from a constable, not from Ignite staff. The constable informed me that there had been a "pretty serious medical emergency" and that my father had been found unresponsive sometime between midnight and 12:30 a.m. He stated that staff had called 911 and that paramedics pronounced my father deceased around 1:00 a.m. I was in shock and did not know what questions to ask at that moment. It has now been three weeks since my father's death, and I have not heard from a single Ignite employee -- not a nurse, not a manager, not a care coordinator, not anyone. No one has contacted me to explain what happened. No one has offered condolences. No one has acknowledged that my father died while in their care. To be clear, I am not alleging that Ignite caused my father's death. However, the complete absence of communication is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. The expectation was recovery -- not death in the middle of the night with no explanation afterward. Why did no unit manager, social worker, or director of nursing contact me as the primary contact? Why was there no call explaining the sequence of events? A simple, humane conversation -- "The nurse entered his room to administer his midnight medication, found him unresponsive, we immediately called 911 and initiated life-saving measures, and we are so sorry for your loss" -- never happened. Instead, I am left to imagine what MAY have occurred. For a family who entrusted this facility with their loved one's care, that silence is unfathomable.
