What concerned me most, however, were the subtle but unmistakable racial undertones in the interactions--particularly in the difference between how I was treated compared to the other guest.

My husband and I came here over two years ago, and he passed away in March. I've chosen to stay here. We used every level of service as he deteriorated. My family and I believe he was as happy, loved, entertained and comforted more here than any other place we could have found. I have felt very protected since Covid 19 started with all protocols enforced. No place is perfect; not even at home. But I don't believe we could have found a place that met our needs better than The Belmont at West Lake Hills. If I did, I'd move.

They entertained him all day, went along with his silly stories, and took such great care of him. My dad had Lewy body Dementia and was in the highest level of care they provided. He ultimately had a stroke last week and passed away. Thankfully, they let us be with him in his last few days and provided support and privacy and lots of comfort. So many of the caregivers, staff, and others who worked there stopped in, some with tears, and told us sweet memories and funny stories about our dad. We love this place and would recommend it to anyone. Also, dad loved their food and often got seconds. Thank you to everyone who cared for him.

No one had said anything bad on Google, so I figured we'd go with them. Feyemeh was helping me with the details of preparing for the move. We talked on the phone, texted, and emailed. Day 1 moving my dad into Legacy Oaks was a little rough. Nothing had shown up , including a bed for him to lay in. I got a call from Legacy Oaks that their nurse who was supposed to do an initial check hadn't showed up that afternoon too. Spoiler alert - that was the end of anything negative I can say about Aspen. The issues were understandable too because I had only started working with them a week or so prior to bringing him to town and our arrival date was up in the air literally until we were on the road to Austin. Feyemeh was trying to get it all to align. The next day I got a call from the admitting nurse and manager Jenny. She went to see him late that evening he showed up. She wanted to make sure to get a prompt eye on him. The bed and equipment showed up on day 2. My dad quickly declined after coming to Austin. The nurses communicated often and well regarding his status and what we should do. Their office's proximity did seem to help him receive fairly constant and prompt care. I was with him the Sunday after bringing him to town and showed up when Veronica, another Aspen nurse, arrived to check up on him. She was thorough and gave me a good education in what was happening with him. He was showing signs of dying right then, and about an hour after I arrived, he passed away. As fast as the decision to come to Austin happened he was gone. Other than the few start up issues, Feyemeh, Jenny, and Veronica were always available to help me navigate what was happening and how to deal with it.

Watermark's management since 2019 has brought consistent, high quality leadership and practices to…read morethe facility. And that has been true during 14 months of COVID19 restrictions and a once-in a lifetime winter storm that robbed most of the city of water and power for days. It is remarkable that the Watermark team was able to continue with so little disruption to residents. The current staff earn really high marks for both caring and skill at what they do - even in challenging circumstances. Crises notwithstanding, the Watermark seems to work hard to be a real home for residents on both the Assisted Living and Memory Care sides of the facility. The two program directors are tireless in thinking up an endless array of outings, celebrations, games, lectures and demonstrations for all interests and abilities (e.g. pub night, mystery dinner theater, Jamaican Independence Day with a steel band, Dancing with the Stars, fishing excursion, Lake Austin boat trip to see the eagles and Senior Games athletic competition at UT). There is a lot available every day, but no one is obliged to participate. Shopping and dining outings were scheduled weekly before COVID and there are frequent special events where family and friends are welcome, including live music Happy Hour every Friday. Our loved one was in Memory Care and we have been thrilled to find that it is also about active living and learning and fun! No one is pushed, simply invited to join in at whatever level they can. Our sister was up, dressed and busy every day with games, exercises, and creating things. Moving into Elan/Watermark, after living alone, turned out to be a wonderful life changer. It gave her an instant set of friends, things to do and a reason to get up and stay awake every day. Meals are delicious & staff seemed organized when feeding & giving meds to residents in dining room. First full day at Auberge I visited my husband. I located him in the activities room, in his wheelchair w/his head hanging low. He was unresponsive. A staff member approached me & advised he had been in this state for a long time. Nurse was called & he was rushed to the hospital for a 2-day stay. My Husband was given wrong medication which had been discontinued. Auberge advised this was not their fault but the pharmacy's fault. My husband was sent back to Auberge and perished several days later. Heartbroken! I paid over $7000 for the first month. Upon my husband's death, I was advised there will be a refund of some kind. Apparently the Contract I signed states an Additional 2-weeks will be charged when resident dies. My refund will be less than $2000 which means I'm paying over $4000 for a 1-week stay minus the 2 days in hospital. I understand mandatory two weeks charge upon death if resident had a lengthy stay, BUT my husband was there for 7 days (minus the days in hospital cause by, in my opinion, improperly medicating)! Unhappy!! Experience from Friday, 8/30/24 through Friday, 09/06/24.

They are patient, attentive and provide stimulation for all of the residents throughout the day. Her room is always very clean and her hygiene is of upmost importance. Before moving my mom to The Auberge at Bee Cave, she was living in a different Assisted Living community. I struggled with clear communication and follow up because my mom is nonverbal. The staff at The Auberge Bee Cave is very sensitive to this condition. They all are very communicative and anytime there is a question or an incident they call me immediately. It is such a relief knowing that my mom is safe and in a caring community that truly looks after her needs.

The physical and occupational therapist are students that have great enthusiasm and encourage you to become your best at exercises. They are compassionate and committed to each patient and each patient is given respect and maintains your dignity even when you are the most vulnerable. Not only are employees are treated well and work well together.; but they like their jobs! Encompass realizes their value and many have over four years with Encompass. The security team is friendly and the administrative staff do an excellent job documenting and taking care are of your insurance coverage. The management is very hands on and accessible to patients and as a whole your stay there gives you hope, and works with you to achieve the personal goals you set yourself. Even CEO takes the time to meet you! The caseworkers coordinate with with your surgeons and testing needs and outside providers to continue with the treatment plans of your medical team. You can tell that they really love their job, and the company they work for, it shows in how they care for their patients. I was there for some physical therapy rehab. I have osteoarthritis and I've been losing muscle mass so the PT and OT team really did a great job of helping me regain some muscle and learning how to use some of the disability tools that I hadn't used before. Everything about the place was spotless. My room was kept clean every day. All the floors were always impeccable, and the gyms were always so clean. They definitely give you a lot of food. I can't say the food was great, but it wasn't terrible. It was just kind of average. They do serve a lot of pork. But they certainly are not skimpy on the food. While I was there, I had group sessions with other people needing to regain strength and mobility, and they always had us doing some fun games Incorporated to make us move. The game everybody loved was pool noodle volleyball with balloons. It had everybody laughing and having a good time, and moving their bodies, it was so much fun.
