Terrible. I'm not kidding, over an hour to get our food. Food quality was sad, this place makes Long John Silvers look like five star dinning. Our server was unattentive and unconcerned; as well as the host / general manager. Don't eat here. Enjoyed lunch today quite a crowd today but only waited ten min. or so not bad at all. Our meals were good, hot as you would expect them to be. I think there may have been a shortage on help , service was a little slow but not bad enough to get upset about, anyway had a little more time to enjoy the waterfront setting. read more

Mom and Dad travel from North Myrtle Beach just to have lunch at this restaurant. We ate there on Feb. 23, 2017 for lunch. Short wait but seats available. Wait staff were friendly. Mom liked her chicken salad, Dad had his favorite- the black bean soup- but he said it was on the cool side. I had a cheeseburger which came with fries, two onion rings and a bit of cole slaw. All was good and filling. Wish they would have let me substitute hush puppies for a side though - this northern girl likes to try the hush puppies when traveling south. View from back porch was great- the boardwalk, water and mill. Would definitely return- but loosen up that hush puppy policy! read more

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on our way back to Myrtle Beach from Charleston. Due to the restaurants and other tourist spots in the area it was difficult to find parking and there is no parking lot for the restaurant so it's street parking. The location is on the harbor and the ambiance is nautical. We were seated by the large window with a pleasant view of the harbor. The lunch menu is limited and there were no fresh fish dishes only fried selections. The service was very slow especially considering the venue was not busy at all. My wife a tuna sandwich and I had the shrimp and grits which is one of their signature dishes. We waited about 25 minutes for our order to arrive. The tuna salad sandwich was nothing special and the shrimp and grits we a bit tasteless and much too soupy and for a lunch menu it was also a little pricey. There nothing special about our visit that would have us return. read more

The River Room is about the best place for supper in Georgetown. They've got great steaks and even better seafood. Their shrimp and grits are famous and -- to be honest -- just the grits by themselves will make you want to lick your plate clean. My favorite lunch entree is the shepherds pie. Joe's stuffed chicken is delicious, but not as big a portion as you'd expect (mine was about the size of two chicken tenders). Their daily specials are always yummy and so is their crab cakes. The crab cake balls are a great way to start any meal. Desserts are all yummy. The warm pound cake with ice cream is too good and so is their peanutbutter pie, though it's extremely sweet. The homemade whip cream served with desserts is fantastic on its own. If you're in the mood for just ice cream though, skip it here and step outside to The Harvest Moon. You can get a scoop to go and stroll the Harborwalk. Service can be a little slow at times and there is usually some wait to be seated. Parking is along Front Street so it can be difficult to find a spot close by, especially at lunch. Walking is not too bad though, as it gives you plenty of time for window shopping. read more

We have been going to this restaurant for about 30 years, but have moved away for many years. Our dinner was mediocre: crab cakes were shredded crab, not lump, and the blue cheese slaw was inedible. My wife's grouper was very good. The service was HORRIBLE, particularly frustrating since the restaurant was almost empty. Our server apparently spent her time in the kitchen socializing. Further, when we approached the front desk asking for the bill, neither the manager nor the server bothered to apologize. I'll not go back. There are too many other good choices in Georgetown and nearby Pawleys Island. read more

I was so excited to try this as it had gluten free options for me. Sadly, the quality of the food is pretty poor. Filet mignon at $30 should be a better cut of meat. This was the low grade for sure. It was ordered well done, showed up near rare. Sent it back, it returned darker on the outside and still pretty bloody inside. Being 3 with our party had the filet and not one of us actually liked it, I know it wasn't just me. Whereas it's nice to eat on the river with the view, it's not somewhere I would go back to or recommend. And many of the gluten free options actually have to be stripped of many of the ingredients and be careful as I learned they weren't completely savvy on cross contamination (the frier being shared and so on). I had to ask many questions before I could even order, then to have the food not be good was just a true disappointment. read more

There was a 10 minute wait for a table at 1:30 for lunch on a Monday and it was not even high tourist season. This place has fantastic food, great prices and of course a river view. Absolutely loved the salmon salad at 10 bucks which was heaping with very nice green leaf lettuce. The burger was also very good. The service was good but a little slow. Would definitely eat here several times a week if I lived in the area. read more

What an amazing meal we just had! The blackened yellow fin tuna was superb! The fried calamari was tender and delicious. My husband had the filet and it was the best steak he has had in along time. Way better meal than anything we have had in SC so far! I just wish it was closer to home! read more

After my wife made a "Minor complaint" to the manager about the desert, the manager decided she would have the last laugh by slipping in a piece of "Scrap Food" into our take-out desert. We will never eat there again & tell everybody we see!! Shame on you as a human being!! read more

We ate at the River Room last evening and were very disappointed. My wife had Shrimp and Grits - grits were very soupy and tasted like 5 minute grits ??? I had the Filet ordered medium rare - it was very nice size but unevenly cooked and not very tender like Filet usually is. Never had a Manager come by after our complaints - certainly not a restaurant we will visit again. read more

Went for lunch early on a Saturday. The restaurant was already busy but we did not have to wait for a table. We were seated with a view of the river. The server and service could not have been better. We both had seafood selections and the fish, oysters, shrimp, scallops, everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and arrived at the table hot. We both commented that the oysters were some of the best we'd ever had. The lunch menu didn't have any appetizer selections but that was not an issue given the portions of our main courses. Nice atmosphere and easy to carry on a conversation. Will absolutely go back. read more

Went to the River Room on the last night of our vacation. We were able to get a seat on the enclosed porch looking out at the river. It was absolutely beautiful. This restaurant has a very casual, comfortable feel to it. We had a nice bottle of wine which was priced very well. We had an appetizer, salad, and an entrée each. The food was so fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the evening and the price and value was fantastic! We will definitely return the to the River Room when we are in South Carolina. read more

Had lunch there today. Service was VERY VERY slow at best. The Asian inspired Salmon and Vegetables was good. Not great but good. My Husband had the Angus Burger. It was overcooked and roll tasted stale. He could not eat the fries. I didn't try them but my guess is oil could be old. Just said they were inedible. We were there for an hour and a half. Got our own refills of water. Waitress was nice but they seemed to be very understaffed. Next time I will try another restaurant in Georgetown. read more

Had dinner there on 10/3/2014. The crab cakes were the worst I have ever had. They were greasy, mushy and the taste was less then pleasant. The blue cheese dressing for the salad tasted like ranch dressing that blue cheese crumbles were added. For the money I would not recommend. read more
