The Hot Fish Club was a lot of fun. It's situated right on the water, giving you a beautiful view during the day, and kind of an eerie one at night! They had a few different bars that you could order at, with the main one being inside, another little hut outside, and a cash bar next to that. They also had a pretty cool live band, with a viewing patio right in front of the stage. In regards to my visit to Hot Fish, I'd say I was most impressed with the bartenders at the establishment, who did a great job under pressure. Even though the place was packed, and especially the bar area, they did a great job of remaining calm, and even got our drinks out in a relatively quick period of time. They also made some awesome blue Gatorade shots, which were some of the best shots I've ever had! I didn't necessarily love that there were cops standing guard at the entrance, but the bar's own security staff and bouncers were really nice, which isn't something you see at every one of these places. The only downsides to the Hot Fish Club were that many of the plastic chairs in the outside area were broken and cracked, making it kind of hard to sit a large-sized group like ours (they had a lot of wooden tables, but they were all taken), and that the restroom situation was awful. According to the girls in our group, the actual, physical restrooms were disgusting, forcing them to use the giant line of porta potties. This isn't a huge deal for guys, but it was a little uncomfortable for the ladies. Other than that, Hot Fish was great, and I'd highly recommend stopping by! read more

Hot Fish Club is one of our family's long-time favorite restaurants at the beach. The food is remarkable every time! We ordered the grouper bites and clam chowder as appetizers. The grouper bites were fresh and tender and juicy, and they paired perfectly with their house-made chipotle tartar sauce. The main dishes we ordered were, surf and turf, Chilean sea bass, a steamer pot, the lobster pasta, and fish and chips. All of it was wonderful. The pasta had a wonderful taste, and the seafood inside was tender and bursting with flavor. The place checks off all of the boxes. It's got the history being the oldest establishment on the block. It's hard to find a seat where you can't see the water whether in the dining room or out in the Gazebo/deck area. Go to the Gazebo, it's where happy hour is and the party too! The seafood is also the best in a very crowded scene that makes up Murrells Inlet. But it's not just the seafood that's great! Finally, service is the perfect blend of casual but professional. Maaaaaan I love this place! I came last weekend and sat upstairs in the gazebo. Unfortunately, my favorite appetizer is no longer on the menu, the crab crostinis. Pleeeaaaase bring them back, they're the item I talk about the most on the menu! I tried 2 new items, the braised short ribs and the seared yellowfin tuna. I liked the tuna, but personally won't get it again. There are better fish options on the menu, like the sea bass or mahi mahi. The braised short ribs were PHENOMENOL. I love short ribs and I will definitely order this again. The sauce was perfect, the meat was tender, and the mashed potatoes were delicious as always. I'm glad I tried the new dishes and found one that I'll be reordering. Service was great, as usual. There was a hiccup in the food delivery, but the server owned up to the mistake and remedies the situation. To me. Hot Fish Club is one of my favorite places to go. We went and had reservations. I over heard one of the workers who said the outdoor spot was now centrally heated. We were led to our table by the hostess and a short time later the waitress came by to get our drink order. We ordered dinner after enjoying our cocktails for a bit. A special shrimp and curry dish for him and the stuffed lobster tails for me. Our dishes came with risotto and asparagus. Both were delicious. If you see me there, stop by and say hello. read more

We wanted to visit the area for dinner and this place had the best reviews. We managed to get a good parking spot so took that as a sign we needed to hold out the 45 minute wait. It is such a cute cozy spot with great murals on the wall and just embraces the vibe of the inlet. They also have a gazebo out back to sit outside. Their menu was amazing and we all had such a great meal and also accommodated our grandson, bring us some cheese slices since it's his favorite to help us get through the rest of our meal since he was done the service was wonderful. Ok- I have been eating here 25 years, but I don't know if I will go back. The roasted pears with goat cheese- overcooked and not enough sweetness. The sea bass, overcooked and the green beans are tasteless, the service is still good , the ambiance is great, the history is amazing, and your food was, but I can see the difference in the quality of your crab cakes, has really changed since the last visit. I got the seafood platter. nothing was fresh on it, it was all frozen fish deep fried. the crab cake literally had no crab, it was a glob of breadcrumbs deep fried. the seafood pasta dish was absolutely horrible with huge pasta noodles and hardly any seafood. the hushpuppies were the size of marbles. this restaurant went from one of our favorites with fresh seafood to US foods quality. we definitely won't be back again. read more

Incredible restaurant in Murrel's inlet right on the water! It has a hole in the wall vibe on the outside, and an upscale feel on the inside. And both the food and the views are to die for! We came on a Friday night and it was quite busy. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table in about an hour. We sat outside and listened to live music by the water, which was incredible. There's plenty of benches and an outside bar to grab a drink, and a place for littles to play on the playground. We ordered the crab meat dip (not pictured because ), the mahi with crab and grits, and the blackened fish sandwich with green beans. Everything was excellent and we left there stuffed! The wontons served with the crab dip were a fun spin on chips, and there was so much meat in the dip. The mahi with grits were unbelievably excellent. The fish sandwich was a pleasant surprise as well, and a huge portion! They have plenty of drinks available as well, which is great. It is a little on the pricier side, but the portions and the taste of the food is so worth it. Will definitely be back for more! read more

The Roasted Pear appetizer hit the spot, while the main entre the Lobster Pot Pie with its flaky puff pastry crust over Chunks of lobster, shrimp & scallops in a white wine cream sauce was a real winner. My mother, my best friend Nevaeh, and I had a deeply concerning experience at Hot Fish Club involving an employee named Mike, who was checking IDs at the entrance. When we initially arrived, our IDs were checked without issue. Shortly afterward, Nevaeh realized she had accidentally left her ID in the car. She returned a few minutes later with her ID, apologized for the delay, and laughed about the mistake. At that point, Mike's demeanor became aggressive. He forcefully shoved Nevaeh, causing her to lose her balance and fall into me. In my opinion, this was an unnecessary use of physical force, and there was no justification for the situation to escalate to physical contact. After witnessing this, my mother immediately decided we would leave because of the hostility of the interaction. As we were already walking away, Mike stated that he was "escorting" us off the property, despite the fact that we had already chosen to leave voluntarily. Once we were in the vehicle, Mike approached and took a photograph of my mother's license plate, stating that he was going to report us for drinking and driving. My mother was our designated driver, had not consumed any alcohol, and was also providing another individual with a ride to Hot Fish Club as a courtesy. We found this behavior intimidating, unwarranted, and highly unprofessional. Throughout the entire interaction, Mike maintained an aggressive and confrontational demeanor that unnecessarily escalated the situation. What should have been a routine ID check turned into an experience that left us feeling unsafe and disrespected. I hope management conducts a thorough investigation into this incident, including the physical altercation involving my friend and the threats made toward my mother. Customers should be able to expect respectful, professional treatment when visiting your establishment. read more

We started with a couple of appetizers--Blue Crab Dip and Grouper Bites--and both were quite tasty. For the main course, I went with the Lobster Pot Pie (Don't love peas but it is Pot Pie, lol) while others tried the Seared Yellowtail Tuna, and both dishes were flavorful and well proportioned. Whether you're just in the mood for a drink, appetizers, or planning a full meal, this place nails all of it. I've been a few times now, and I need to broden my horizons but that mahi, it's just too dang good. I usually get the crab stuffed mahi. I could live off crab dip, and the one they serve here is so amazing. We tried the sushi on my birthday last year as well, and whereas I'm not big on sushi, this roll is the best one I've ever tried. I just wish I could remember the name of it, but it was a very hectic weekend outside of my birthday since my grandma was in the hospital close to passing (and did the day of my birthday ). Of course, we all know that the beach is extremely hot during the summer, but if you happen to visit this location during the fall, they usually have live music out back and they have a bunch of chairs so you can order a drink and relax by the marsh with nice music while you wait on your table. All of the waitstaff here has been amazing as well, they answer any questions you have, even if they're stupid ones about what kind of fish that weird name is, and they are on top of taking care of the table and making sure everything is perfect. This is definitely a location that you must try if you happen to be in the area visiting, or even as a local. It is my favorite of all of the surrounding area so far, and we've tried most of them. read more

We were seated right away, but the restaurant was crowded! We hoped that was a good sign! My husband ordered the Lobster Pot Pie and he said it was delicious! Sorry I didn't think to take pictures till we were done! I ordered the fried shrimp, w/baked potato and extra tartar sauce! This dish took me right back to my childhood! There were a decent amount of shrimp (I think more than 12) and they were big, not the small ones you usually get in a basket. Overall, an excellent meal and experience. Food was really done well. Calamari was cooked perfectly and the strips were thick and not chewy at all. The marinara dipping sauce was freshly made and really flavorful. Calamari was plentiful enough to need more to finish it up with the dipping sauce. Crab cakes were stuffed full of lean fresh crab and cooked crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Fresh delicious mashed potatoes just "lumpy enough". The seafood pastry puff pot pie was absolutely amazing and was also stuffed full of the "good stuff" and not just filler like some places try to pass off as "seafood" pot pie. We were sitting at the bar so there were the obvious annoyances you encounter...anyone who has had a meal at "the bar" knows the pros and cons associated with doing so. This place is no different. so don't be surprised by that. The ambiance is rustic, old, somewhat vintage, dark lighting seafood vibe, dark wood, worn and well used environment. The food was the star in this establishment. The inlet has A LOT of choices to choose from along the strip. This is a good one. Food was upper level while maintaining the "divey" aspect that is so prevalent in the inlet strip of establishments. Parking was a hat trick so make sure you read the signs and if it says paid parking they really mean it. Pay attention and follow the rules. read more
