Food was good, delivered in reasonable time. The waitress provided all the condiments and items requested. She refilled our drinks without being asked, and made sure the kids had what they needed so we could also enjoy our food too. Food is honestly fantastic and great price. Chips and salsa are good and the staff is amazing. Wish they would offer better margaritas but I love the food. However, the place is a mess. I've been here many times in 2 years and they've done better, but I saw 2 things with my own eyes that would be a health code violation. However, because the food is good and it's the best Mexican restaurant in Princeton I'll keep coming back lol. I know the building is old and might not be financially smart to really renovate, but let's be honest, it's the one thing that's holding back this place. They nickel and dime you. Food is pretty good but service can be iffy. You have to flag them down every time you need anything. They don't just stop by and check on you. You get one small bowl of chips and salsa free but if you need more they charge $2.00 PER BOWL! They're small bowls too. I asked for lime with my meal and got 3 lime wedges and was charged .50 cents. Yes it's not much but definitely nickel and dime-ing people. There's really no need they're not hurting for business. We go here several times a month but we'll probably cut down to once here and there because of all the extra charges and so so service. read more

Great food overall. After trying other entrees on my past visits, I finally got around to ordering cheese enchiladas. Would not recommend them if you are expecting traditional TexMex. The cheese and tortillas were bland and tough. The shredded cheese was unmelted (possibly vegan?) and the chili con carne sauce tasted more like mole. So many other great dishes, though, so I still think this place deserves 5 stars. read more

Unbelievably bad from beginning to end. It took a while for us to get seated, for no particular reason. Drinks consisted of iced tea, which was served with no ice, and water; water because they had no diet coke (or other diet sodas) or beer - don't believe the menu. No chips and salsa were served to us even though other people had chips and salsa. When we asked another waitperson about chips and salsa, she seemed surprised that none was brought to us, but didn't go get any. There were a BUNCH of tables with dirty dishes on them and no one seemed in a big hurry to bus them. When our food got to us (along with the question "do you want me to bring you some chips and salsa?"), my chicken quesadilla had no chicken in it. Not a little chicken or inadequate chicken - no chicken. Plus it was burned on the outside and the cheese wasn't melted. It was served without sour cream and guac, even though those were listed on the menu. My husband's Molcajete had room-temperature shrimp (yikes!). The beans were cold and the rice was greasy. After a few bites, we paid our check and left. $30 down the drain. I truly don't understand the other reviews. We are not picky people, but we want decent food and service and a clean restaurant. My wife and I are from Frisco and we decided to take a drive to Princeton just to get out of the house. This was on Sunday July 26. We kind of just stumbled onto Rivera's. We didn't know anything about the restaurant but we decided to take a chance. We are happy we did! Good food, great waitress and nice atmosphere! The food was so tasty. My wife and split a fajita order and we were not disappointed, so good. Another item that was very good was their salsa. It was different from many I have tasted. My husband and I have eaten at Rivera's multiple times and always enjoy it. We tried a family pack of beef fajitas to go recently and it was great. The food was delicious and the serving sizes enormous! We had enough food to eat dinner and lunch for three days and my hubby can put the food away. I highly recommend. I would also add that the packaging of the to go food was superb. Everything was neatly wrapped and we had no leaks. This may sound silly but is super important to me! read more
