Coming from California and being used to the Baja style, I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The place has promising reviews, but I just don't see it. Love the hole in the wall feel, and the house made salsa is tasty, but otherwise the food was surprisingly bland. The rice was barely seasoned, dry chicken, stale burrito tortillas, and no traditional meats like cabeza or lingua. I felt like I was back in Pennsylvania eating some white lady's food who thinks tacos are supposed to be hard. I might go back again, but I'd have to be pretty drunk and convince a DD that this place is worth it, which will be hard. I honestly think they're trying to white wash the food for everyone else. Hole in the wall spot off of the main road (380) that you might miss it. Their tacos, pupusas, & elotes were all delicious. I don't have anything to critique about the food itself. They don't have water, so you'd have to buy something or bring your own water bottle. If you choose to sit and eat there, their little patio area is covered, but there are flies roaming around, so if that bothers you, I'd take it to-go. Prices were decent, staff was friendly. & yes there was a wait (we were eating in) but it definitely was not an hour long wait. It seemed like a normal amount of time it would take for food to be prepared, and there were people who ordered ahead of us, so a wait is expected. Parking is on the grassy area/rubble area next to the little building. When I went, there was a boba tent right next to this spot, that had some milk teas and smoothies if you want something to sip on while you wait, or to have during your meal. read more

First thing to mention is that there is no indoor seating and the seating area they have there is a covered patio type. I have no issue with it. Also, there is no restroom or sink to wash hands so prepared before hand. The food is outstanding. Possibly some of the best Latin food in this side of Collin County. It was flavorful and filling. The hot sauce was actually spicy. I highly recommend this place to any one looking for authentic food. read more

AMAZING! Fantastic find! Great authentic pupusas and tacos for a great price! Also their burritos are amazing. Awesome meat to veggie ratio. Everything is made to order and served hot! Fluent in Spanish so not sure about how customer service is for those in English but my order was complete and given to me promptly during lunch rush. We've gone three or four times and have never been disappointed! Update: this place is now our go-to! We come here at least twice weekly and still have yet to be disappointed. Holy guacamole! This place is delicious! Such a great find! It's a small little place right off the main road on the corner. It doesn't look like much but the food is fantastic and they have great prices! They make it as you order so everything is very fresh and they have a great selection of meats. I ordered the quesadilla with carne asada and LOVED IT! They're bilingual and you can order your food ahead of time of you just want tiki pick up and go. Otherwise their are a few table out front where you can sit and enjoy your meal. read more

I absolutely love the fact that it has been about 4 months since I've been here and they remembered me! I know I'm unforgettable and everything LOL but this makes for great customer service! I was driving home on US 380 when I passed this little place. All I saw was a sign that said Pupusas and Tacos. I hit the brakes and flipped a dangerous U-ey (if you've driven this highway, you know what I mean). It is nothing more than a food truck with a cover attached for a make-shift patio-dining area. The menu is pretty extensive and made up of Mexican and mostly Central American fare. I tried the al pastor and carnitas street tacos and also ordered a revuelta pupusa. I ate these there along with a large horchata to drink. The food was so good and so fresh. It's like I got lost in the middle of Latin America and found an unbelievable roadside stand. The corn tortillas and pupusas were the real deal made fresh from masa. They give you lots of meat. I also ordered an elotes (it could use lemon and more cream and some chili powder), fried yucca with chicharrones and plantanos to go. These were also out of this world. Oh, sorry, no English. The ladies who took my order were nice but beyond naming the menu items, they won't understand you. Good thing I am fluent in Spanish. Here are some tips to help you: Para aquí (pa-ra-ah-key) - for here Para llevar (pa-ra-ye-var) - to go Tenedor (ten-ne-door) - fork Servilletas (ser-vee-ye-tas) - napkins That hopefully helps. And everyone knows to say "Por Favor". This is out of my way, on the East edge of McKinney on the way to Princeton, but man, I'm gonna have to make the drive so I can try other things. read more

If there was a wall anywhere near this place would be the quintessential hole in it. But it doesn't...this place started as a tent 4 or 5 years ago and has gradually made improvements...now it has four walls, metal chairs, and good lighting, but that's about it. It's on the corner of a busy intersection in the middle of a field with nothing around it but please don't let this scare you. This little dive has the most perfect street tacos known to man. The tortillas are light as air and still warm from the griddle. The standard onions and cilantro toppings are fresh, and the decidedly super-standard green sauce on the side adds tons of flavor with just a little kick. But the real star is the meat. Lord Almighty in Heaven Above the taco meat is per. fec. tion. The beef is tender as a mother's heart and perfectly flavored. The barbacoa isn't fatty, but juicy with just the right amount of char. Even the chicken, normally shunned, is a standout performer here. Every time I go here I promise myself I will try something new, but I've always succumbed to the temptation to order yet another piece of Taco Nirvana. So honestly, these 5 stars aren't a true rating of anything but the actual taco. Hwre are reviews of the rest of the place/: Ambience is a zero...this ain't no date night venue. It's obviously a Mom-n-Pop shop they're building from the ground up so go expecting a half-step up from your local taco truck. Service is a two...they're nice, but expect to do some pointing at the menu if you don't speak Spanish. They do have English translations and pictures of everything on the menu but I've yet to meet anyone there who speaks English. I don't speak a lick of Spanish, so if you don't kind pointing and slaughtering pronunciations your Gringospeak will work just fine here. Okay this place is great and we have been going for almost five years. Unfortunately It just came to an end. Yes we were there yesterday we placed three different orders. They were missing one item on our order so I went in to complain about it. Let me tell you they made a big thing about it instead of saying we're sorry ma'am let me get that right out for you which was two dollars on the menu. instead of making a big fuss and then having their daughter being scolded they lost us as a customer. O.M.G the Pupusa was my fave. I paid less than $5 for both (Gordita) plus $3 for a 32oz agua fresca. It was so worth the drive (25 min there and back) and my food was still warm when I got home. The red sauce taste like mild enchilada sauce but on top of the picked cabbage and the green salsa is a little goes a long way! I will for sure go back and try one of their plates. Great food. The tacos and pupusas are delicious. My favorites are the Barbacoa taco and the Jalepeno & cheese pupusa. The food is simple and fresh. The salsa and the cabbage salad that go with the pupusas are great. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. And I needed some help since my Spanish is not good and I had never had a pupusa before. If you are in a hurray, just order a taco. The pupusas are worth the wait but they take about 10 minutes. I have been to several of the Texas Monthly 100 Top Taco places and in my opinion, Taqueria La Benedicon could easily near the top of the list. read more
