10/10 - Amazing Authentic Mexican Food! We stopped by San Gabriel after a long day, and it's no surprise this has become one of our favorite spots! The food is always delicious, fresh, and tastes truly authentic. Everything we ordered was amazing, and the portions are generous. The service is another reason we keep coming back everyone is always so friendly, welcoming, and FAST! You never feel like you're waiting forever for your food. The inside is super cute!! Their drinks are also AMAZING, although we skipped the drinks this time around. We've lived in Princeton since 2021, and I'm honestly a little upset we didn't make it to San Miguel Grill sooner. The parking lot is almost always full--and now I completely understand why. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside, with plenty of seating in a very clean, welcoming dining room. The chips and salsa tasted fresh, and the staff was plentiful, attentive, and totally on point. We ordered the fajitas and flautas, and both were fantastic. The flautas were STUFFED THICK with extremely flavorful chicken, and the fajitas were delicious and very filling. If you haven't given San Miguel Grill a try yet, I highly encourage you to do so. I have lived in McKinney for over 25 years and Unfortunately tonight was the first time I ever ate at this long standing McKinney tex mex restaurant. I have to say, wow I truly was missing out! Fantastic food, fantastic service. Clean restaurant, attentive service and delicious food!The fajitas were perfectly cooked, queso was tasty, and Margarita had a nice smooth bite. From being greeted when we walked in, to water and salsa being brought, to Nacho, our server, being available throughout the entire experience, it was clear they were happy to have us there. I eat out a lot for pleasure and work and rarely does a restaurant make you feel so welcome! Two different birthdays were celebrated there and staff had really nice voices. The margaritas ranged in price from $7 to top shelf $10, which is a welcome change! The chips and salsa were flavorful and plenty. For two of us with margaritas and dinner $52! Was lamenting the loss of Mario Chicquita's 30 years ago but in October we found San Miguel Grill that offered the same original Carne Asda that I feel in love with years ago. Since then we have been back every week to this wonderful family owned business. read more

Some of the food here was good, but the salsa they put on the table was great had a good flavor. Some one mentioned it was a Sam's canned salsa but never the less it was good. Can't say much for the chips not a homemade type, could tell by the small uniform size consistency with brown specks, factory made, maybe from Michoacán's across the street. They say you can tell a good Mexican Restaurant by the salsa, but not in this case it wasn't all good here. I ordered the beef enchiladas with tamales rice and beans. That was a mistake the enchiladas were terrible with a very salty canned sauce taste and brownish color with mini pieces of beef and the tamales were even worse they tasted like the worse canned tamales overloaded with salt. So I switched to the White fish plate with the 3 shrimp with salad topped with sliced avocado and rice. The fish was eh a little too thin, greasy and overcooked. I passed the shrimp to my husband he said it was good.The rice was too spicy with too much oregano or cilantro.They don't include refried beans. I notice must of their dishes are not served with refried beans or even rice. Not what I'm used to. My husband got the charbroiled carne asada with one green enchilada and cheese piece. He said it was good, I tasted the green sauce on his enchilada it was good so was his fried cheese piece. His plate didn't come with any rice and beans at all, so it didn't fill him up. Why are they shorting customers like that? Don't understand. What I got was ok but I was disappointed about their beef enchiladas and tamales tasting so terrible and no beans and rice with most of the selections. Are they thinking of profit? The bad enchilada with tamales came with rice and beans but they took that away cause I couldn't eat it. The food was either good or bad depends on what you order. We didn't try any of their fajitas. Still disappointed and the place is not cheap. Check your receipt they don't itemize the bill. The total was 52.47 plus tip just two dishes no drinks. I've had the best, unfortunately, not here. Also on your way out you'll notice a candy dish with chocolate mints not free but labeled 15 cents each.,Gheee how money hungry they all the way to the end! read more

Awful awful awful. I literally ride past San Miguel daily and it's always super packed and crowded, which to an onlooker is an indicator of a great restaurant with amazing food right? WRONG! From the moment of walking into the restaurant we should've left but didn't. There's a subtle smell of mold or leaking pipes but again due to the hype we proceeded to be seated. The older gentleman greeted us and was friendly but none of the other staff followed suit. Our waitress was dry, barely greeted us and offered no warmth. Next we were given salsa, tasty and has a slight kick which we liked. Main course, my mom & I ordered beef enchiladas and tacos and the meat was suspicious. Had a bizarre smell and didn't taste like beef. The beans appeared to be straight from the can and the rice was dry and overall flavorless. Our waitress made the experience the 1 star given aside of the bland food. She never ever came to check on us, never inquired about the food or if we needed anything else. She never asked if we wanted drinks nor gave any suggestions on drink specials. There's zero authenticity about this place and it could use a major facelift. The menu is limited and the items are overpriced. We took the leftovers and 1hr later tossed them. Not sure why there's an overflow of patrons but I will never return. I don't know, I guess I'm spoiled by real Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants that I can't find anything nice to post. Everything you can buy at a grocery store, from the chips to the queso. I don't know what they're doing back there. Plates are extremely hot but the food itself is like room temperature, which isn't a good sign. The place looks so authentic on the inside you might think you actually in Mexico. The stuff was super welcoming. Once we set the service was very good and fast. I saw online they had their 30th anniversary so I wanted to give them a try. I've passed by this establishment many times but rarely saw a bunch of cars so I didn't think it would be good. I got the Daniela. It came with a beef burrito, cheese taco, cheese enchilada, guacamole, beans and rice. They brought out the burrito and guacamole first. I was confused by this. It had a little Ranchero sauce on it. I would give it a 5/10. It was a little bland for me. Everything else was really good. I know it said TexMex but it tasted authentic. Came here with some coworkers for lunch while I was in town. They come to this place once a week and really love it. There was some kind of corporate event in the private area so the parking lot was packed, but the restaurant itself wasn't super busy. I got the chimichangas and they were okay. Lots of chicken, which is great, but there was actually too much cheese inside (never thought I would say that!). My coworkers all got the #13 steak and it looked delicious, and they all swear by it. We visited this place for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the combo fajitas for two. There was no waiting to be seated and we received chips and salsa pretty quickly. That is where the good times ended. The salsa was mediocre and chips tasted store bought. The food came and it was extremely bland. The meat had no seasoning and the tortillas tasted store bought. Not a good experience. The reviews for this place were great and held 4 out of 5 stars. Not sure if we were there on an off day and usually I give a place a second chance. The others are right - the house ritas are LEGIT! Strong and cheap (especially the latter on Mondays and Wednesdays). I have always been a Patron rita girl, but took the house rita challenge, and now it's all I order. Worth it! The ritas also have a small, medium, and large option. The medium is quite big, so it's fun for all drinking quantity preferences! Tons of seating, super casual, and the staff is always nice. The owner remembered my fiancée and I the second time we visited (newbies to the area). Their salsa always tastes freshly made, and the food is very good. The queso could use improvement as it's subpar compared to most other places. The tres leches is ohhhhhh SO GOOD! It's a huge bonus they serve sopapillas since not all places do. I have been coming here since I was maybe 5 or 6. Same owners, and I've never seen anything more consistent in my life. The food hasn't changed in over 30 years. We stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday, and had a fantastic lunch experience. The moment we walked in the door everyone was friendly and helpful. The very sweet owner, Arturo, came around to check on people at least once during the visit. The chips and salsa were excellent with a fairly spicy salsa that hit just right. My husband said it just might be his favorite ever, and the chips were clearly fresh with just the right crisp. We were there at lunch and both had lunch specials which were great and very reasonably priced. We also had an appetizer I can't recall the name of but was a cold dish with shrimp, cubed fish, tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro in a lime vinagrette-style dressing that was a perfect dish for the first cool day in many months (and would be a great cool-down in the summer). Wednesdays (as of this writing) are happy hour all day, so I snagged a margarita that was definitely not just made from a mix, so it wasn't as sugary as you often find. It was definitely strong for my small build, so bring a driver like I did. :) The seating was sectioned off into areas to provide a somewhat more intimate feel while still having some openness.
