Missed the mark:
First off - the views are amazing! The building is gorgeous. Yes they are still working on the landscaping but that can be overlooked as its a work in progress. BUT the dining experience missed the mark. We read the reviews and were very excited to try. Our waiter told us to expect "high-end fine dining". The prices reflected that but that was the only thing.
Details, we were setting inside with a great view. There were lots of workers standing around looking for things to do and talking. First ding. I should not be hearing complaining about tables or the job or any conversations. Our waiter talked way too much about himself and his personal opinion. We left there knowing more than I ever cared to know about him. Again, not what I would expect. We ordered sweet tea; it was not sweet. The waiter said a new batch was being made. We waited sometime before he came thru and said he forgot and would go check. Another ding. Mind you the waiter had TWO tables, ours and one on the patio. We ordered the Tuscan Green dip...it's just spinach dip with some chips around the plate. It was OK but nothing special and it cost $17. Next, we placed our main order, I ordered the Chicken Picatta and the wife ordered the filet. Waiter warned us that the steaks are all cooked by temperature only and he was seeing lots of people not happy about that. Wife ordered Med. It came out way undercooked BUT the outside was charred and crispy. Sent it back, second time it came back it was as ordered. Steaks are alacart per the waiter, so you get no sides. Twice baked potato was $6 and was again ok. The steak was not very tender and had the charred flavor on the outside which we didn't care for. Mind you this steak was $39, I expect quality. Wife rated it a 5/10. The picatta was good I rate it 8/10. We ran out of tea 4 times during our meal, and 2 times had to ask the waiter. Again, not high-end dinning. Desert time comes and we ask the waiter about the cheesecake, he states it's not made in house and is not sourced from cheesecake factory and that its dry. We asked what he recommended and he stated the only thing made fresh is the skillet cookie. So, we passed on desert.
This place has really potential and we do plan to come back at some point in the future to see if things have improved. For now, its a 4 out of 5 for me and that's being generous because of the views. read more
