They're not there to sell you a car as much as to sell you on a loan. That being said as long as you're on your toes, deals can be had here, just be sure to re-fi or pay off the loan early or you might find yourself stuck with terrible rates. The 2015 Honda I bought for $13,000 it ended up costing me $37,000. They tell you the bank won't finance you unless you take an extended warranty...even if the car is still covered by a manufacturer warranty. I told them how much a month I could afford and ended up with a huge monthly payment. If you are elderly stay far away..they see you as a money maker. The following was forwarded to Tantillo Auto Group 8 days ago: I received an advertisement in mid-September from the Riverhead Hyundai dealership which advertised numerous sales and a trade-in offer for my soon-to-expire lease with Ford. I had always leased with Ford, my latest car, a 2017 Ford Fusion, however the advertisement piqued my interest. My husband and I visited the dealership on September 29th and after test driving a few models, I made the decision to turn in my Ford Fusion and lease a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. That same day I filled out the application, was immediately approved for the lease, and we went back to the dealer the next day (September 30th) to pick up the Elantra and drop off the Ford. Upon dropping off my Ford, the salesman, Mark Hertzovitz, looked over the vehicle, recorded the mileage as of that date and stated that the car was in excellent condition with no damage. He also stated that the dealership would immediately send a check to Ford to finish paying the remaining 4 payments of that lease and return the car to Ford. I left the dealership with my new Elantra, assuming everything was done. However, that is when my problems began. My next payment for the Ford lease was due on October 22nd and I received my statement requesting payment. I logged into my account and realized that no payment had been made by Hyundai and that I still had 4 remaining payments. I contacted Mark (the Hyundai salesman) several times because he did not get back to me the first few. I also contacted the Finance Department, left multiple messages and never did receive a response from them. Mark assured me the check to Ford was going out immediately and not to worry about it. To be on the safe side, I logged into my Ford account again to ensure payment was made by Hyundai. The account indicated I was now late for the October payment. At that point, I reached out to Mark again and after several messages left on his voice mail, he finally returned my call. He stated that the payment had been made. I requested the check number so that I could contact Ford, and it was then Mark realized that he had the check made out to HONDA. He promised this would be rectified and a check to Ford would be sent out immediately. The issue with the check became so ridiculous that when my parents called Riverhead Hyundai to make an appointment to return their lease and to lease a new vehicle, they told Mark they would not deal with him until he could show them proof that the check did, in fact, go out to Ford and that my car was returned. When my parents arrived the next day, Mark showed them proof that the check was now sent to Ford. (They did lease a vehicle from the dealership on that day.). At this point, I thought my problems were solved, but I was mistaken. On November 6th, I received a registered letter from Alliance Inspection Management (AIM). The letter stated that there was damage to the front passenger bumper of my Fusion and that I now owed Ford $1380.20 in excess wear, payable by November 25th. I contacted Ford directly and they told me to reach out to Hyundai. I emailed Mark and received no response. I then reached out to the General Manager (Michael Puleo) who did not return my call, but instead had Mark contact me. Mark stated that there was no damage to the vehicle when he returned it to Riverhead Ford and asked for a copy of the statement from Ford. He stated he would call them. I never did hear back from him, so I called him again. As per his text: "I spoke with them and I presume the damage occurred at Ford. When I dropped the car at Ford, it was in perfect condition. It's out of my control if Riverhead Ford let something happen to the car." He suggested I contact Riverhead Ford. I contacted the General Manager of Riverhead Ford (Thomas Williams) today (December 11th). He was very cooperative and spent quite a bit of time researching the car's return. It turns out that my car was not returned to Riverhead Ford (down the block!) until October 17th - a full 18 days after I left the car in Riverhead Hyundai's custody. Within those 18 days while it sat at the Hyundai dealership, I have no doubt it was damaged, especially since there was NO damage to the car when I left it at the dealership on September 30th, as validated by your salesman, Mark. And yet, when AIM inspected the car at the Ford dealership, there was damage. Somewhere in the transition, my vehicle was damaged, and it was through no fault of mine. Considering the details of this leasing experience, and your claim "We specialize in providing you the originality and dependability you desire with an expedited and hassle-free experience," I am disgusted, frustrated and angry. It has been a headache from the moment I left the parking lot. I would like this issue handled immediately and equitably, admitting that the 18-day delay in returning this vehicle to Ford, quite probably resulted in the damage for which I am now being charged. read more

Was told the first service is actually required at 6K miles . When i brought the car in at 6K another person told me the first service is indeed due at 3750 miles. About a year ago I bought a 2017 Sonata from Riverhead Hyundai. They did an oil change and filters before I picked it up (hold that thought) and I've been very happy with it, no problems. What with the pandemic, I haven't been doing much mileage, only about 3K miles, but it's been a year, so time for an inspection and oil change. My husband took it in to our local mechanic and as soon as the car got up on the lift they both spotted the same thing: the oil drain cover plate was missing. No one has been under the car since Riverhead did the oil change, and the plate, which would be held on by seven bolts, couldn't have fallen off by itself. The car was sold with the 5 year/60K warranty, and this plate is original equipment, so it should have been there. My husband phoned them, expecting we would be able to get the plate by mail, but no. The manager to whom he spoke said we had to bring the car in so they could see the plate was missing, We live in Huntington, so this would mean a two-hour, 80 mile round-trip, waiting around for someone to look and say, yup, there's no plate there, waiting for the part to be ordered, making ANOTHER two-hour, 80 mile round-trip, waiting for the plate to be put on...to say this is ridiculous is putting it mildly. The manager also seemed to be annoyed that we hadn't had the car back in for service in the past year. Really, with a car delivered in like-new condition on which I've put only 3000 miles, what reason would we have had to bring it in? Based on the excellent experience we had buying the car this is not at all what we expected from Riverhead. My three-star rating is a compromise, based on the 5-star buying experience and the 1-star they're getting for how this has been handled. If they get back to us and resolve this situation, I'll change the rating accordingly. read more

We walked in and were immediately met by Tyler, one of the salesmen. I'm a tough sell but he handled the transaction seamlessly. where to start with this dealership. if possible i would give this a zero star the service department here is terribl,horrible, etc. I came in because there was something wrong with the car I have a 2013 Tuson and they said it needed a tune up paid that then it was still not functioning then they told me it needed a whole new transmission luckily it was still covered so i paid money over $500 for a tune up that it didn't need. and then I replaced brakes and let me tell you something about the service dept parts aren't that expensive but the Labor Holy F**** and they tell you a price and then it magically becomes hundreds more. recently my engine light came on and they told me the part it needed was $500 and I had to pay first before they can order the part. ended up being more that $500 and they said labor would be over $500 additional like WTF. its not a good sign that they wouldn't order the part before payment that should have been my red flag. I will for sure try to use this dealership as little as possible. please do yourselves a favor and shop else where. read more

This is for the Service Department, I received a recall notice in the mail for my 2017 Tucson. I went online through the Riverhead Hyundai website, entered all the necessary information and booked the SPECIFIC recall for 4 days later. Responded to THEIR email confirming my appointment for the SPECIFIC recall on my vehicle. Show up at the correct time only to be told "We don't have the part, there is a nationwide shortage on this part." When I asked why I wasn't notified, I was told "We don't know why you are coming in. We can put you on a call back list, so when we get the part you can come back!!!" I went home and looked up my appointment email, which CLEARLY stated the exact reason I was going there in the first place. I called and asked to speak to the person on the email, only to be told "She hasn't worked here in over a month!" I then asked for a supervisor, the service rep resisted until I argued with her about their policy of NOT notifying customers. When I finally got a supervisor, I was told "The person who makes those calls left because of an emergency, so the calls weren't made." I find this reason to be suspect since the first response earlier was "We don't know why you made an appointment." I find that the service department is deceptive and they do NOT really care to provide quality customer service at all! Very annoyed and would give Riverhead Hyundai ZERO stars if that was an option! read more

My wife purchase her new 2019 Kona a few days ago from the sales man Mark. Mark was very friendly and helpful at first, once we test drove the car we wanted to know if we could afford the payments. We told him the max we were able to spend and he went to his manager and then came back with a much higher number than we could afford. We went back and forth quite a few times and then finally his manager came over. Marks manager (can't remember his name; shorter heavy set guy) was very aggressive of having us purchase this car at a price which we couldn't afford. He made it a very uncomfortable experience for myself and my wife. We were also told that the car was equipped with Blue link, so we were under the impression that we would be able to use the blue link app to start, lock, open the car but that was not the case. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone, they don't care about the customer only about the $$ and that's not how you run a business. read more

My son took his 2017 Hyundai Elantra in for a routine oil change. The service Department coerced him into having expensive maintenance done that he DID NOT request or need at this time. They assured him it was "NECESSARY" to complete these repairs right now. They intentionally RAN UP his bill to over $300.00. When my husband called them to tell them they ran up the bill and performed unnecessary maintenance he was told "It doesn't hurt the vehicle to do these services." He told them according to their owners manual this service wasn't even supposed to be due for another 10,000 miles. They replied "The customer agreed to the service." When you tell someone a service is necessary, of course they will agree to it. This deceptive practice seems to be common at this dealership. We will think twice before giving our business to Riverhead Hyundai again! read more

We purchased 2 cars and leased 1 car from them in the last year. Before that we had bought a Nissan from them years ago. After less than a year, my husband's AC stopped working. We brought it in and they told him that the AC condenser had a whole in it. A rock mustve hit it. Then magically, 2 rocks mustve hit it. We were informed that it was not covered and it would cost us $800 to repair. We then said..hey..we just basically bought 3 cars from you in the last year, give us a break! So, they reduced it to $650. We can get the part for $187 from Autozone and have our local service man fix it for $100 bucks for labor. They had "fixed" a light that indicates their is an issue with the tires, even though there was nothing wrong. In less than a week that light came back on and 2 days later noone has gotten back to my husband. Our lease is up in 2 years, we planned on buying a used large truck through them and in a year an Ioniq. We also were going to lease through them again. But will NEVER lease another car through them, nor will we buy anything from them. We will go directly to their competition. We love Hyundais, but this dealership does not give a crap about their customers or trying to make their customers happy. So, for abut 400 dollars, they are willing to lose amazing customers who would continue to lease and buy through them. I am in sales and I really believe in supporting local businesses, We are beyond disappointed with our treatment and will not only never buy or lease from them again, but we will recommend to all our friends that they do not go there as well. Shame on you for not treating your constant and loyal customers right. It really doesnt take that much to give good customer service. I am all for a company making money, but at what cost?? I bought a 2016 Santa Fe less than 5 months ago from this dealership. This was my first big purchase ever. I traded in a vechicle in order to get the car pre-certified which gave me a 10 year warranty, road side assistance and the works. After leaving the dealership the first time that's when issues started. My salesman raj was beyond incompetent. My car was not cleaned, had to return the vehicle to have the engline cleaned As it was covered in dirt, I waited 2 months for my registration and three months for a title as my salesman lied to me over the phone saying the reason I didn't receive it was because of the christmas holiday. However after calling the dealership over ten times, I finally got an operator who told me that the insurance information was processed wrong for dmv. Two weeks ago my brakes began to squeal so my dad pulled my tires and saw that my tires were down to the wearbares. Being that I just spent $30,000 on a veichle less than 6 months ago and have put 6,000 miles on a veichle I never expected to have to come up with $1,200 for new tires as I got the car pre-certified. Well raj, my sales man never gave the precertified letter only the initial warranty. While they told me the precertified would included everything including tires, they lied again. There is no way that anyone could wear down decent tires in 6,000 miles. When I asked the dearship for the precertified letter they told me they will not give it to me and that I was given it and they're holding it at another site. The evevelope I was given I never opened except when I signed the papers, as I never needed to being I hadn't had an issue til now. I never write reviews but I want everyone to know that this dealership has put me through a lot for this veichle. They have screwed me out of money and took a car as a payment that was not supposed to be touched unless I had the precertified letter in my envelope. This was my first purchase and I was clearly not aware of the process but I will never buy from them again as they intentionally knew the tires were at the wearbare putting my life in danger and ultimately making me spend even more money after having just bought an expensive vehicle. Went in there with intentions to buy a used vehicle. Applied for finance and got approved. I come back later that day to go over the number with finance, they already wanted my insurance and what not, before even going over the terms. I told him that I'm not proceeding with any insurance until we go over the terms. After we review the terms I said no, they were really pushy. Saying that I told them that I would take the vehicle the same day, which was not true. On top of that the vehicle needed to get serviced as I addressed to the salesperson. I guess they aren't used to people saying NO because they weren't happy at all, telling me that "it's not fair to us that someone was going to come in to buy the truck and they told him it was sold. Well it's not fair that the vehicle is worth 24k and you guys want me to pay after my term around 42k. This would've been my first purchase. I'm happy that my parent have educated me pretty good when purchasing a vehicle. We as consumers need to educate ourselves before purchasing a vehicle, don't let your emotions get the best of you. Because you can get yourself into situations that will not play in your favor. read more

Brought my Hyundai Santa Fe Sport to have my front breaks done using a special coupon. The service people who check you do not know how to talk to customers. They asked what was wrong with my breaks and told them when I had my car inspected at another location, that it was getting close to redo the front breaks. One of the service people looked at my car and said they would not have passed my inspection because my front windows were tinted, like why would i ever go to this dealer in the future after hearing that, since the tint was done while i lived in Florida. Well when i picked up the car the bill was higher then the special answer was the coupon said additional charges may be added depending on the car. Well why did they not tell me the new price before the work was done or even call me to ask if it was ok to do the breaks at the higher price. Had other issues with this service department, never go there again. read more
