I went for Accupuncture treatment. I was adamant at first because in the past it didn't really work. I went to try again, probably now, new innovation may have come up. I did the cupping and Accupuncture with an open mind. Every treatment Dr Kim will evaluate the prior treatment and base the treatment modality on that. By the 6th treatment, I was doing very well and the weekly treatment decreased to every 2 weeks then to every 3 weeks! You might think why it took 6 treatments to get better. I was convinced to come here by reading the reviews and the comments by the acupuncturist. I have severe lowered back pain. Sadly, this was not a pleasant experience. He was in such a rush the two times I went. Not taking the time to explain what to expect since this was my first experience receiving acupuncture. No sheets to cover yourself also noticed he didn't wear gloves both times. He does the inserting needles in such haste , it really hurt. Then proceeded to turn up volume of electrical current that I had to plead to lower. I was feeling faint and getting a headache. I informed him when he returned how I was feeling unwell but he went ahead taking out needles again in a hurry and proceeded to scold me. We went to office and instead of checking my blood pressure, he just asked for co-pay. I don't know, maybe his bedside manner is selective? Not coming back ever. read more

Been seeing Dr. Kim last couple months for my neck issue and now a golfers elbow issue that started recently due to an injury. This last visit was the best one yet. When I left the office all my neck and elbow pain was gone. I'm being careful at the gym to make sure I don't re-injure it, but it feels great to be able to work out without being in pain. So far he has helped me with my ongoing neck issue: my c3 and c4 hits a nerve that goes down my arm. Cupping and acupuncture helps immensely. He has worked on my golfers elbow. Also few years ago I got a slight tear in my pec muscle doing flyes incorrectly. He fixed that in one session of acupuncture and cupping. I threw out my back twice in a couple weeks and decided to try acupuncture after the second incident. Hyosu Kim explained everything that was happening and what I should expect to feel as it was my first time trying acupuncture. I felt a difference after each appointment and what I appreciated most was our alignment on my readiness for discharge when the time came and him suggesting it himself. There is nothing I dislike more than feeling someone is using their professional opinion to keep me coming longer than needed for their benefit. I feel my 3 appointments throughout 2 weeks, which included cupping, acupuncture and electrical stimulation (each of which he confirmed my approval before proceeding), reduced the healing time dramatically compared to if I hadn't gone and left me feeling less prone to injury in the future. Before seeing him I let my first injury heal on its own but it was still bothering me two weeks later and then I threw it out even worse at the end of those two weeks so I can say that I was in almost perfect shape after Hyosu Kim's care compared to half as good healing on it's own in the same amount of time. I was unfamiliar with acupuncture until very recently. I've had ongoing back issues after a severe car accident in which I was a passenger. That was thirty-seven years ago. After years of "traditional Western" medicine, a colleague of mine convinced me to try acupuncture. I have to admit that the idea seemed a bit like "snake oil" remedies referenced from the early 1900s. But, at this point, I was willing to try almost anything. Wow...what a difference this made. The treatment was nothing like what I'd expected. I pictures a session of painful needle pokes. In fact, it was unnoticeable to me. The results, however, are nothing short of amazing. Discomfort seemed to melt away--without the side effects of medication, radiographs, CT scans, or MRIs. Simply amazing. Mr. Kim made the process even better. He is affable, precise, attentive, and shows a genuine interest in the history/origin of my issue, and what my goals were for the session. When he found out this was a new experience for me, he was careful to explain the procedure, and what I could expect. I can't think of the last time I had a "traditional Western" medicine medical practitioner with that level of service. I highly recommend this clinic, and Mr. Kim specifically. read more

My mom has had horrible lower back pain for weeks now so I took her to see Dr. Kim at Rivernorth Acupuncture and he is amazing. He really takes the time to answer all your questions. He uses enough needles to cover the whole area that is in pain and spares nothing when it comes to your treatment and relieving the pain. He also does cupping, heat therapy, offered some brochures on exercises that would help strengthen the lower back area and even had herbal pain medication. I mean, he went out of his way to make sure my mom wasn't in pain. My mom says he has a lot of care and is very thorough. After treatments, my mom always feels better.
