My wife and I had a great dining experience. The service was excellent from start to finish, and our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing. She made sure our drinks stayed full and checked on us throughout the meal. We started with the crab cakes, which were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. It's Burger Week here in Chattanooga so tonight I opted to visit a location to which I have not been since it was called Walk Ons. Walk Ons was a sport bar/restaurant, and the motif really hasn't changed (there are over 50 TV's present) they are clearly downplaying that element has over half of the TV's were either off or had rotating art. It was so obvious I had to ask and was advised the new ownership was looking to distance themselves from that image, while projecting a finer dining image. Clearly neither the motif nor the menu was indicative of such a shift, but that will require an additional visit. Their burger entry for Burger Week was excellent, the accompanying hand cut fries were hot and tasty. The beer selection was a bit light for my liking. The service was excellent, always important. I'm a bit at a loss as to how to rate Riverport Grille. My experience tonight was positive, it was a great burger. So as a participant in this week's Burger Week event, a positive result. So when I go on vacation. I always study the restaurant and talk to the locals. River port grille was a recommendation. So of course I studied their menu. I saw the pork chops and that sounded so good. When I arrived. I was quickly seated . Ally soon arrived asking me what I would like to order. So of course I ordered the pork chops witch came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. There was an Apple craisin topping that went over the pork chops. I wasn't sure about that so Ally informed me I could order that on the side,so I did just that. The food soon arrived and the presentation looked wonderful. The pork chops were grilled and tender. The mashed potatoes has a nice parmasain taste. The broccoli was perfectly steamed with a wonderful buttery flavor to them. But the best part. I noticed as a dessert they had peanut butter pie. So after finishing my dinner of course,I had to have that. She brought me a piece. Let's just say it was huge. The taste also was spectacular. That alone made the meal a 15 out of 10. Walking in we were greeted with the warmest and friendliest welcome. The ambiance is very sports bar. Our waiter started out great but was trash. Most of our orders were wrong, and thankfully the runners were there. They took the best care of us. He avoided our table until it was time to pay the check. I was so upset, never got a refil on water, or checked in or anything. Because we were a large party he got his tip, but the runners who was the real mvp, fixing orders, taking drink orders and doing refills we gave her a tip and son cake from my friends birthday. Verdict: quick and friendly service with top notch bar food. Bar atmosphere tied everything together. We stopped by after the aquarium on the way to our hotel. They were super friendly, accomodated our fussy 3 year old, and we made happy hour. Winning! Started off with the fried pickles which were frankly bomb (I keep dating myself with these, but whatever) and the ranch was flavorful and not too thick. The kid's Mac and cheese looked like Kraft, which my son unironically loves, so it worked out. The cucumber jalapeno margaritas were fresh and spicy and only $6 at happy hour. Dinner took a bit to come out, as did water refills. I got the Cajun catfish tacos with fries, and the tacos were good but my fries were cold. I should've sent them back, but I was too hungry by this point to care. My partner had a burger, which he said was just adequate. He did highly praise his Mac and cheese side. All in all, this place offers decent food in downtown Chattanooga at reasonable prices. Promptly greeted and sat outside on a beautiful Chattanooga afternoon. They were very accommodating to our pup and even brought him a bowl of water. We had the calamari which was very good! Their breading is amazing. I ordered the club sandwich which was good (and big!). The only complaint I have is that it was grilled which is not my preference for a club. Husband ordered the burger which he said was delicious. We both ordered onion rings as a side and just like the calamari - delicious breading - defiiitely hand breaded on site. I really like coming to Riverport. I was looking for a new place to go to Downtown when they opened and they fit the bill. The food is good and the menu is well thought out. Because I'm a 'bar person' I always sit at the bar. The service is exceptional especially when Amy is behind the bar. Attentive, smiling and when available good conversation. She makes a really mean cocktail as well. She can rock a busy bar like no other and get the job done without breaking a sweat. The being said there is plenty of parking options. I t is huge I had to get it big I am not a big fan of buffalo sauce so I cast it with the bbq sauce instead. It went well with the blue cheese crumbles. I got the black beans side. When visiting the aquariums in town, my son recommended this place for lunch. He needed to look up the location on a cell phone app, either because he heard of it via word of mouth, or he was there once a long time ago. I will review all the key elements of a good review, and I am going to be picky. That is just to justify a four star rating instead of a five star. Instead of a spacious lobby/waiting area, on entrance, you were faced with two choices. One was a narrow path to the bar and the other a narrow, long waiting area that was full. We did not mind the 20 minute projected wait for a group of 4 plus a high chair. Looking into the dining area, it was curious as to why the wait was so long. It looked only about 60% full. The hostess really wanted my phone number and I really did not want to give it out. To pass the time, I went to the Bloody Mary do-it-yourself bar. Getting your vodka from the bar, you got to choose your finish from a generous presentation of mixers, hot sauce, and accoutrements of an assortments of citrus, olives, pickles, etc. Of course, my two drinks were perfect, because I made them myself. A word of advice is to not include Blue Cheese. The pieces fall to the bottom of the glass and the straw is not wide enough to accommodate them. Fortunately, the rest in my party were not embarrassed by my nit-picking questions about the menu. I shall explain. The listings were well crafted prose, and I was concerned they were a bit generous for lesser quality food. The server maintained her poise and did the best she could. All doubts were erased when the server asked another in the party how she wanted her salmon cooked. If you are asking that question, you KNOW what you are doing. The server even explained the difference in their omelettes and how they were prepared in Wisconsin. This was another indication of quality service. I ordered an omelette but was concerned it was too big. I was right. Delicious as it was, there was too much food. I am a senior citizen and were are known for smaller appetites. I left half the omelette. The other senior in our party left more than half of her food. My son devoured his plate, but taking a cue from me suggested that due to his BMI, perhaps he should eat less. The aforementioned salmon was enjoyed by my daughter-in-law and seemed an appropriate amount. One curious request response puzzled me. I asked for a Louisiana style hot sauce. She said she did not have one, yet there were two options on the Bloody Mary bar. Hmm. The last nit I will pick is on the quality of my omelette. It was tasty. However, a TV chef judging omelettes said that the perfect one should not have any brown pan marks. Mine had significant, but not objectionable marks. So there is your fussy four star rating. "Would I go back?", you might ask. Sure I would. It far exceeds the chain bar and grille options nearby. The only thing is that I only get to this city once every few years. read more

Amy behind the bar is the reason we first came there after following her from Stevarinos to Foodworks, and she is the reason we return on the regular. Other servers and bartenders have come and gone here, so we love that we have a familiar face welcoming us and taking care of us around the bar.
