I just had the most amazing experience with a Small Business Owner, Ivan. This was the second tailor I met today. The first had actually turned me away and recommended me "a tailor on Grand Ave." With not much more information, I set out to find this business. A quick Google Maps search later, I found myself parallel parking next to Rivers Tailor Shop on N Juniper + Grand, and I'm SO happy I did. I have been making it a point to refurbish, rather than throw away any of my material possessions-- including my laptop case. So, when the zipper popped off, I searched for a tailor immediately and I am so thrilled to report that Ivan from Rivers Tailor Shop was the perfect man for the job. He was able to take a look then and there and use his magic fingers to fix my case right before my eyes. From the initial diagnosis of "just buy a new one" to Mr. Rios' then-and-there fix, I am happy to say I am thrilled to lock in Rivers Tailor Shop in my Rolodex as my GO-TO tailor. I would HIGHLY recommend this 3rd generation, family-owned business to anyone that needs any and all tailoring services. Rest assured, your threads are in the best hands, literally.

Tailored to perfection! I recently lost a lot of weight and have been in need of a good tailor. On my way home from a bike ride. I stopped in to check the shop out. I was greeted with a friendly hello and how can I help you? We started to chat a bit about the items that I had and he confirmed they would be no problem. I was excited and returned later that afternoon. The turnaround time was excellent and the quality of work was worth every penny as they fit great! I have many more items that I plan to bring back. I am happy that I found Ivan. Highly recommend!

Old school-style tailor who takes excellent care of garments, willing to take the long way around to get it right. 5-star craftsmanship.

I don't often need tailoring but Ivan did a great job, hemming lined business suit pants in a timely fashion.

Great work and even better customer service! I love to support local, family owned businesses so…read morewhen i needed my bridesmaid dress altered, i came across this place! My dress needed the straps to be shorter and my slit was sewed since it was rather high. I also added sleeves to my dress and she did an amazing job! With the extra fabric, she offered to make two pocked squares as well. My sister and I had a very small window in which we needed alterations for her bridesmaid suit and my dress. They got them BOTH done so fast and the work was incredible. Aside from the work, they have great customer service which seems to be hard to come by these days. Highly recommend this place! Would definitely return. More info on cost: I paid $138 for the slit to be sewed, straps to be shorter, added sleeves, plus two pocket squares. My sisters alterations to her suit were nearly the same amount

"How did this ever happen??!", noticing a buttonhole that needed a small amount of repair. She automatically took the shirts and hung them up on her to-do rack making it somewhat uncomfortable for me to say thanks, but no thanks. It was then I wanted to know how much the bill would be, and she replied $24. I then grabbed the shirts off of her rack and bid her a good day. I have seen this same tactic used at different types of repair shops where the owner overly dramatizes what needs to be done and takes possession of the item prior to discussing the charge or getting approval. In sales that's called the assumptive close, where they act as though they assume you will approve the work and pay their price for the very minimal effort required. Don't fall for it. I have just now received a response from the lady's husband indicating that I must have visited a different shop and mistakenly thought I was in theirs. Absolutely not possible as I've been in several times in the past. Perhaps showing the shirts will refresh her memory and also defend my own. For full disclosure, the green shirt does have a small half-inch rip on the back side.
