These are minor considerations when the care meets expectations. I have noticed that when you are in the exam room, there is a LOT of ambient noise from both the customer and staff sides. Dogs barking, people laughing, etc. are all amplified. This made my girl extra antsy yesterday. I'm thankful for the care we receive at LSFAH and recommend them for your pets' care.

Since the lads adopted us, having been rescued from the streets as four month old pups, they had medical issues. Previous vets were mostly competent, but we were always made to feel like they were doing us a favor. We've all been to the joint where the nurse comes in, takes your loved ones temp, leaves, then the doc comes in, does the exam, leaves, and the nurse comes back in and drops the price bomb on you. One clinic even had a doorman - yeah - talk about a warning sign. We're by no means money flush and just like most people, live paycheck to paycheck. Point is, WD&CH is the complete opposite of all the other vets we've ever been to. They're friendly, charge fair prices, absolutely don't rob you, and most importantly provide the best care our sons have ever had. Which brings me to this: never have I experienced a vet like Dr. Wong; kind, gentle, super smart and extremely competent. One of our lads, Harry, was recently diagnosed with skin cancer, thankfully not malignant, but as you can imagine a terrifying moment for us. Talk about a stab in your heart. But the doctor was very considerate in how she told us. I'm a details bloke and Dr. Wong is a details person. She explained very clearly, very factually, what was wrong, her recommendations for treatment and patiently answered all our nervous questions. She was 100% right and we can't express our gratitude enough. A month after that, we found what we thought was a second lesion, and our other son, Sam, also had something on his front leg. Dr. Wong took amazing care of them and again, thankfully neither are cancerous. I've never had a vet call me, not once, but twice in the same day then again the following day to make sure everything's alright and again the following week, and over Christmas no less. Take a moment. Absorb that. Who does that? Dr. Wong, the other doctors, and the staff at Washington Dog and Cat Hospital, that's who.

A small clinic, caring vets. They were sold a few years ago & are under new mgmt, & it absolutely shows. My senior cat is now experiencing health concerns that I began voicing in January of this year. It started with my emails going unanswered--I would send one following up about our visit, not hear back, & a week later I would send another. After *several* unanswered follow ups, I finally heard back from the vet late February apologizing, saying they were having issues with their email routing things to spam, but that it was fixed & "communications should be smooth now." Reader, they were not. We were given prescription food to see if that helped her vomiting/sudden hairballs. All 3 of my follow up emails were ignored (one each week)--including me attempting to set up the ultrasound they said might be necessary. The entire month of April was wasted. We scheduled the ultrasound in early May to get clarity on her potential issues. The results showed that she had irregular thickening in her intestines & I was told it was likely Lymphoma. I was, as you can imagine, very upset by this news. When I got home, I emailed some questions I had, but I never heard back. I followed up to say it was in poor taste to tell me my cat likely has cancer & to email if I had any questions --& then not respond. I was desperately hoping that this was just continued email issues, but they never said so. I literally had to stop in in person. No one apologized, they just said to cc the general office email. At this point, I said let's start treating the lymphoma, so we ordered the steroids, but before we could begin them, my cat started sneezing a lot. It also seemed like she was possibly drinking more water/urinating more frequently. So before we started the steroid, we came back in to have this looked into. They gave us a small syringe of liquid cerenia to administer 1 drop into each nostril every day. Frankly, I don't believe any ONE person can single handedly hold a squirming cat with one arm & administer ONE drop from a syringe with the other hand. Not to mention, the plunger was sticking & pressing evvver so slowly still meant that it moved too quickly all at once & too much liquid came out. I learned this the hard way when I got the entire teaspoon's worth onto my shirt. They gave me a 2nd syringe but it had the same issue. I tried transferring the liquid into a pipette that I had more control over but that didn't work either. I tried dipping a qtip into it & swirling it in her nose, but by this point there wasn't much liquid left. We then tried Doxycycline. I picked those up & was told that if she started vomiting to STOP giving it to her & let them know. That was a Saturday. They're closed Sun/Mon/Tues & no one checks their email on the off days (not that they're responsive on their open days). My cat was immediately throwing up after the first 2 days so I emailed them. All they said was "make sure she's had food beforehand"....which I had already assured them she had. I asked if there was an injectable or if we could be prescribed anti-nausea pills, but they never replied. I wound up taking her to a different vet just so I could get anti-nausea pills. After the round of doxy, she was still sneezing, & I was still concerned about her increased water intake/urinating. So I followed up again asking what they thought. We are now at the end of JUNE. We have new bloodwork/urinalysis done. TWO WEEKS go by without any word. I reach out asking about the results. I'm told everything looks great except her urine is diluted, but "that's normal when you're on steroids." That'd be great news if we were indeed *on steroids*....but we were not. So I emailed back expressing my frustration. They know she's not started the steroids...I am *desperately* looking for someone who can tell me WHAT we need to do, WHAT deserves our attention first. No response. A week later (mid-July), I email the office asking them to please have Dr Melchor check her email, as I want our actual VET's opinion. No response. Have I heard back from the vet at all since? No. I wound up starting a membership with Modern Animal 2 weeks ago, now that VV has wasted 6 months. MA reached out to VV (& cc'ed me) requesting her medical records. I left for a work trip for 2 weeks. We had our first visit at MA today, in which they tell me VV has never sent the records...I'm told MA will reach out again today, & I receive a message saying the VV "Can't find any records." I emailed VV telling them how unprofessional they are & to please send my cat's records, as they are actively preventing me from getting my cat care. They responded saying that they've sent them multiple times. No apology. Nothing.

If they would've done so they could've saved the life of a cat that did not belong to the person who signed off What a shameful response for front desk to say that this will not affect them because they've been in business for 60 years. While there is technically a vet and nurses on site, they're just there to administer the shots. I wouldn't expect them to answer complex questions that you may have at a traditional veterinary or animal hospital. I am docking a star, though, as they do not have a fixed location. One of the benefits is that they have nine different places they can go, which helps those who are nearby. It is also a problem if you're on a certain schedule for your pet vaccinations, but they are not close by during that particular time. First visit with the Echo Park dog park, second was all the way in Van Nuys, and my third visit was at North Hollywood. And despite having Low Cost in their name, I found similar pricing at the local animal shelter and the closest vet clinic near my house. I do appreciate that they use the combo Parvo/Lepto 8-in-1 shot, though. Overall, if you're willing to make the drive, it's a nice place to get walk-in service for dog and cat vaccinations. They even offer medicine for deworming and micro chipping. they don't take credit card though, so bring cash or have your Venmo/Zelle account ready.

Our 1.5 lbs puppy got 6 full vaccines and microchip for the price of almost $200, but now has cost us $700 more in vet costs and medication. When we took her to the vet 4 days after her shots because of her excessive vomiting and diarrhea, our trusted vet said she should have only received a few shots at a time. It's been over a week now and she's still coughing and hard of breathing from her weakened immune system. I am disappointed, sleepless for over a week, and out of a lot more money than I would've been if I went to an actual vet initially.
