Upon our arrival our waitress, Colleen, seemed a little disorganized and took awhile to grab us menus. We looked past that though for the time being, my friend ended up ordering a bud light. When he got his beer he tried it and it was an IPA. Had a darker tint to it as well, when the waitress came back my friend nicely asked what kind of beer it was and she said bud light, but became argumentative about it immediately which was not our intention at all. We simply just wanted to know what it was because it was an IPA. After wanting to argue and tell us it wasn't an IPA, she leaves and comes back and tells us that it was in fact an IPA and gave us a bud light. We thought it was all over after this, it wasn't. She then continues to act rude throughout the whole interaction and was not attentive to our table whatsoever. Then it came time for the bill. She quickly comes over and says yeah I'll get you boxes and then runs off, we wanted to let her know we wanted 3 separate checks. When she comes back we let her know this and she says well I'll try to remember what you guys had, when we offered to write it down for her since we didn't know it was such a hassle. We then decide to pay for it on one check, when my friend nicely goes down to do this she says "Yeah, the way you should have done it in the first place." We finally leave... it should be over at this point right? Well it wasn't, when we are walking back to our car from the gas station, she screams over another group of people at us "THANKS FOR THE 10 PERCENT TIP!" After the extremely rude and uncomfortable service, she's lucky she even got a tip! I don't know if she was having a bad day, but this is not someone I would want in the hospitality business. We left extremely disappointed and will not be back. It's too bad that a staple for so long has turned into a place that leaves a sour taste in your mouth

Perhaps it was our mistake for not ordering the burger. That seems like what everyone gets excited…read moreabout, here. What we had, instead, over the course of a few visits: four different pizzas, three different salads, a few sandwiches, and lots of different beers. The pizzas were made with a thicker-style crust, I guess what might be called Greek-style in CT: thicker than a NY-style crust, thinner than a Chicago-style crust, and middle-of-the-road glutinous. Toppings were in good balance, a not-overly-sweet tomato sauce topped with just the right amount of cheese in our view. Pepperoni comes in wide strips cut from sandwich-sized slices, and versions we ordered with peppers or olives came with a fair amount of each. Our contingent of pizza snobs enjoyed, but did not love these pies. Sandwiches were pretty spendy, but appeared to be nicely filled, e.g. with chicken salad or deli meat, cheese, and veggies. The primary consumers said they were "okay." The three salads we tried (Cobb, beet, and King's Bag) were weak: so wimpy and mediocre for the price. (The ones down at D'Ellie's were far better!) I would emphatically not get these again. A few of our beers tasted as though they'd come from taps that hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. (Others were fine.) We hear there's a robust apres ski / evening scene here at times.... and the restaurant sure smells like it! It sounds like this restaurant has some strengths, which I guess we didn't quite hit. I'd come back with friends for apres ski drinks -- but probably not so much for the food (unless those drinks need absorbing).

So good! We had another restaurant recommendation, but heard…read moreabout the blueberry beer and came to try. It did not disappoint, but then some of us were distracted by the Lumberjack Lemonade (also worth the distraction), and decided to stay for food. So glad!!! It was interesting, unique (maple balsamic dressing, blueberry bbq sauce) and every bite delicious. Pesto Flatbread, pulled pork, Mac and cheese (with pulled pork), sweet potato fries (surprisingly amazing), French onion soup reportedly delicious. Service superb (thanks Jess!) and everyone so friendly. If I am ever around here again I would come straight here. Yummmmmmmmmmmm. Only downside was extremely limited wine selections for my wine drinking friend. Maybe have a couple more options, like Pinot Grisio.

The staff could not make some of the drinks because there was no bartender. When they did get a bartender, we were ignored for people that he knew for 45-55 minutes. My father, uncle and husband left after an hour of being ignored. One of the owners had come in at this point and apologized for the delay in service. We were comped a round of drinks at this point. This is a beautiful place and the food that we did get was good. It is a shame that they will probably fail due to poor management/training. I will say that I had a large party but there were only 2 other tables with people at them when we got there. It was Riverfest this past weekend so they should have expected a larger lunch crowd and been adequately staffed. I was up their 4th of July weekend and had a much better experience. If employees are blatantly ignoring customers for their friends, you have a big problem.

How does this happen? You visit a local restaurant periodically and suddenly realize it has been…read moreover three years since you last updated your review. Yet indeed, I have no revelations or big reveals after revisiting this popular local haunt. The ice cream is still very good and the window service polite and capable. We also recently decided on a rare sit down meal here. We fancied some seafood for a change of pace and rather than driving a dozen or more miles away to frequent our favorite seafood restaurant, we opted to eat locally. And besides, we had tried Lakeshore's clams and scallops when we first moved here and liked them. So one of us ordered the scallop platter and the other clams (full-bellied of course). The servings were slightly smaller than at our favorite place, but also a bit less expensive, so it is a choice whether you would rather take some home for a second meal or save a few dollars in the short term. As we remembered, the food was good, so no complaints. If I push the issue, I have to say the meal didn't quite live up to the other restaurant, but that is why we have fave places, isn't it? It is only logical to occasionally test to see if others are ready to take over top spot! But there have a varied menu. And as a side note, the town of Dexter has implemented a remarkable renewal and improvement project of the neighboring beach and facilities, including building a new covered dining and activity area, which can be reserved or used more spur of the moment as available. There is a fair bit of parking , though very busy with locals and nearby camp visitors, and there are public restrooms just behind the restaurant.
