I have been going to Dr. last for over 20 years and he has been caring and confident dentist. His office staff however is another story. Long story short, I worked out an arrangement to deal with my portion of a bill and they sent me to collections. They know that I am unemployed due to Covid and over 70% of my bill was already paid but they still sent me to collections. My recent experience at Riverside Dental Group with Dr. Sugiono and Leah has been one of the most miserable experiences of my life. My interaction with this office can be summarized by lack of hygiene, frequent cancellations, dropped calls, poor resolve, lack of alternative treatments, poor post-operative instructions/care, and actions that were underwritten by the intent to make money rather than work with their patient's individual needs. So here is what happened... After discovering that my root canal - which was performed at RDG - failed, I was told I needed to have an endo re-do (root canal re-do). After looking at a full panel x-ray of my mouth, Dr. S performed an external examination of my tooth prior to beginning. During the procedure, he "discovered" a crack in my tooth. I find it very hard to believe that a crack went unnoticed after both a full panel x-ray and an external examination. Instead of offering a simple extraction in that moment, he instead opted to proceed with the re-do on a cracked tooth. Does this even make sense? During the procedure, Dr. Sugiono was working on me and another patient simultaneously. This is not okay! After the re-do, my abcess grew 5x larger than before the surgery, despite being on 2000mg of antibiotics. I sat with an open wound in my mouth for nearly 20 minutes while he worked on someone else. While I felt no pain, I was fully aware that this was not okay. I left the office with one simple instruction to mitigate pain: take two Advil and one Tylenol every four hours. This did not work and I was and still am in excruciating pain. I was not instructed to salt water rinse or perform any other post-operative treatments that might have resolved this issue quicker. After a week passed, I was still in miserable pain and the infection was pouring out of my tooth. I called Leah nearly a dozen times to see if she could give me an estimate on how much the next procedure would be. Two weeks went by and she NEVER got back to me to answer my question. She was either "away from her desk," or "my file was on her desk" or "it had been a crazy day" and "her computer crashed." At the end, she simply stopped returning my calls. Note: I called Leah because she is the primary assistant. Finally, I bent and called someone else in the office as I couldn't take the pain anymore. She gave me my estimate in less than 8 minutes and scheduled me quickly. However, I got a call from Leah today cancelling that same appointment because Dr. S is busy that day and forgot. I am so disappointed. Leah tried to offer me an appointment tomorrow, but I cannot just call off work with 8 hours notice. I am most disappointed by the fact that no one ever discussed extracting the cracked tooth with me instead of placing an implant. This is a simple 300.00 procedure that my insurance would cover. He pitched me what I learned is a 5,000.00 alternative during the endo-redo, and sent me on a crazy goose-chase of PAIN FILLED re-visits that could have been solved in the moment. I just don't understand how you can not call someone back when they clearly need help as well. I am still in pain...I am so disappointed. read more

My husband had a badly decayed tooth and a friend of ours gave a big recommendation for Dr Dee Elias. What a wonderful dentist. He gave a long and thorough consultation, and advised us what would need to be done for all of the problems that showed up on the Xrays. He was honest and told us what could be held off, knowing price can be an issue. Today I took my husband in for the root canal and he was so surprised at how easy it went. My husband had a separate root canal done 3 years ago by another dentist and it was horrible. My husband explained to Dr Elias ahead of time about his high tolerance to pain killers and the good doctor made sure they selected the correct injection before starting the procedure - which took less than 2 hours as apposed to the agonizing 3-4 hours with the other dentist. They advised Tylenol for pain, but so far there has been none, even after the injections wore off. The waiting area is gigantic, nicely decorated and calming. Lots of seating areas, two large flat screen TVs and a Keurig coffee maker. Most of the dental stations had a flat screen TV for the patient's distraction. The only negative was the wait time in the waiting area before the appointment and the spread out appointment scheduling, but that can be said about most places. I will definitely be going to this office for any of my own future dental issues. read more

My experiences in the past when visiting a dentist office have not been positive. In fact, they've only solidified my aversion and increased my anxiety. My husband was the first to visit with Riverside Dental Group, specifically with Dr. White. My husband said nothing but amazing things about his experience. I mustered all my courage and made an appointment. My experience was nothing but positive. From the initial contact to meeting with Dr. White! I was not anxious or worried. My heart wasn't racing and I wasn't biting my nails and that's saying a lot! Dr. White was friendly and caring. His assistant was equally the same. I am leaving a happy patient (who is coming back for a follow up) and would definitely recommend this group to anyone looking for a professional office that treats the patient first! Horribly ran office and they definitely know how to play the insurance game, as they require a separate appointment for every little thing.... teeth cleaning, 1 appointment... crown/cavities, 2nd appointment... God forbid you need a root canal/re-treatment, because that's a separate "specialist" and a 3rd appointment. My last dentist before coming to Riverside Dental Group handled EVERYTHING in 1 appointment (cleaning, cavities/crown, root canal) and didn't make me schedule anything separately, except to come back to have the final crown installed in place of the temporary one, which is expected. I waited 6 weeks after my 1st consultation/visit just to see a different "root canal specialist" for 10 minutes (2nd visit), and now have to schedule a 3rd appointment for the treatment, and then a 4th appointment for the crown (and probably 5th for the permanent crown). So sad my last dentist retired, because they did teeth cleaning, root canals, and temp crowns all in the same visit, with only a 2nd visit required to have the permanent crown installed. Horrible experience and only out for the insurance money!!!! read more

Ive had the same dentist since I was 4 years old and this year I was ready for a change. I came to the riverside dental group and was stunned by how clean and nice the facility was. I saw a dentist (not sure what his name was) but he said I needed a deep cleaning. Then I met Carly. Carly is an amazing hygienist! She was professional, nice, funny, smart and made me feel comfortable. She told me she could give me the numbing gel instead of the injections and said it will be fine. Wow!! I was referred by a good friend and I just wish I knew of Riverside Dental Group a long time ago. Better late than never! I came in right before Covid happened so was not able to come back in until a week ago for a filling and a broken front tooth. Dr. Elias and his assistant were great. I had happy tears because it looks so good. Also, my car wouldn't start so I had to be 15 mins late and the staff was so nice and understanding. I have other work that has to be done. Ive been going to Dr. White there for many years. I switched to Dr. Sugiino for scheduling reasons. I needed a crown and a filling and was given the price of all that a couple of weeks ago by the treatment plan coordinator. Dr. Sugiono's work was great and he was very nice, gentle and fast. My issue is that once my tooth was ground down to a nub and his assistant was fitting my temp crown the assistant sprang an extra $125 on me giving me the choice if the crown that would show gray at the gum line in a few years or the better crown that would be white all the way underneath my gums. Would be good to know all options up front, so BEWARE. I will be going back to Dr. White. read more

When I had been planning to take the day off months in advance. The website say they are open at 7 am yet they can't answer phones at that time. I have been seeing Dr. Elias for 3 years now. Not only is he patient, gentle, and thorough, he is honest and will tell you strait up if something can wait, or is not necessary. My kids have been seeing Dr. Sheila Harris, and we love her but they're older now and next time I will take them in to see Dr. Elias. I trust him completely with the health of my mouth. I had a root canal a year ago, I was expecting the worst but it was a piece of cake. I wont switch dentists, and I hope Dr. Elias sticks around for many many more years to come.
