We stopped here because it was near our camp grounds and honestly the food did not disappoint! We ordered the seafood basket with cod and roast beef dinner. The food was great, service was excellent as they accommodated our needs. They were extremely friendly and hospitable! Stopped in since we were in the area and were very pleased. It's a very cute little restaurant and the service was great! Our server was very attentive and sweet. When she heard me say my coffee was cold she warmed it up and when I said it was still cold she went and made a new pot. I got the hungryman omelette and it was so very good! We've visited Croswell for years, but never stopped in before now. We stopped in for dinner and THEN looked at the Yelp reviews. Eek. What did we do? But looking at the two other parties, the food looked good and people seemed happy with it, so stayed. I got chicken strips, fries, and salad; husband got a burger and fries. Nothing too crazy. We loved this place at first. We made this our spot. The food was good. Had great prices. Loved the salad bar. But the wait staff while nice. They lacked in service. My wife and I were forgotten on three separate occasions. They were not busy. It's a small place. The last time we had enough. She came and took our drink order. Got our drinks. Then never gave us another thought. We are excellent tippers. Always 20% and above. She started waiting on other tables. People who came in far after us were getting their orders taken. We just sat there. I think the waitress might have known the other people. And got preoccupied with talking to them. So we got up. Paid for our drinks. The waitress at the counter asked if there was a problem. I told her we couldn't get waited on. She did offer to take our order. And that was the proper response. But we were not very happy at that point. So we polity left. We went down the road.to the Wagon Wheel. The service was fast. The food was great. A little more pricey. But a good experience. We might go back to the Riverside again one day. I hope this reaches them. So they can work with their waitstaff. read more

What a difference a week makes. A week ago I came in with a large group after a funeral. I ordered a Philly Steak pita and it was one of the best I've had. Yesterday my wife and I returned and I ordered the Philly Steak again. When it arrived, it was nothing like I had before....the pita was stuffed with lettuce (lettuce in a Philly Steak?) and had a couple of thin strips of meat lying in the bottom. I sent it back and since we had already waited 40 minutes elected not to order a replacement. After leaving I went thru the local McDonald's drive thru. I gave the restaurant two stars because my wife's order of chicken fajitas was OK. I am a bit perplexed at this point and don't know if we'll go back. I guess my advice is not to assume an item on the menu is prepared a certain way....ask questions to insure you're getting what you expected. I should add that the staff was friendly and I felt sorry for the young waitress who took our order when I sent the food back. read more

I truly DO NOT understand what is going on with this restaurant!! We ordered 1 thing & they still can't get it right!! You wonder why business isn't what it used to be!! Maybe because the staff can't take an order nor get it right!! Biscuits & gravy with an omelet & we got toast, rye toast at that!! Is this really confusing? I hope the employees don't expect a monetary tip because the only thing I can really give them is a piece of advice ... you want to make money in this industry ... get the freakin orders right & take care of customers that are right in front of you!!!! I grew up in Croswell and lots of people who have worked there agree that it's the dirtiest restaurant they've ever seen. I was literally warned once not to eat there by a former employee who had seen a cook drop food on the floor and pick it up and keep cooking it! The last time i went there i found a long ass hair in my food. this place is GROSS. My boyfriends dad is notorious for liking dirty, shitty hole-in-the-wall places. while dining here he once said "you know, this place is pretty dirty!" It's a small town where they all know your name. We visit every year or so to see my wife's grandparents in Croswell and this is their spot. They have about everything that you could ask for and breakfast is available all day long as well. You can't go wrong with the spaghetti and meatballs and a few other things on the menu too. Make sure you get to spend some time there and get to the know the characters that come in and out of Riverside. When you are there, go by the Swinging bridge as well! read more

The restaurant is small, but it is a small town. Coffee is great, food is wonderful, and portion size of breakfest is HUGE for the money, They have a 3 egg omlet, 6 egg omlet, and even a 9 egg omlet LOL. booths, a 4 top table, and a 6 top table. My dad eats at the Riverside almost everyday. The burgers are great and the pizza is the best. But the best thing at the restaurant is the staff, they are very good to my dad and always take great care of him. They really make it a family affair. read more

This place has gone downhill in the last 8 years that we've been going to it. We will not be going back again. Last night, we ordered two different kinds of pizza--BLANDEST pizza we have ever eaten! It was like eating paper towels. The guy in front of us for pick-up had called in an order for pizza and two grinders. They forgot to put the pizza order in the queue and the guy got no pizza!
