New the last week of April 2015. The restaurant is owned and operated by Mennonites which is evident in the decor and excellent home cooked meals. The restaurant features a full breakfast menu (served all day) along with a nice selection of sandwiches for lunch. My wife and I ordered a 1/2 Focaccia Bread Panini intending to split it yet we still ended up bringing half of it home. The french fries they serve are homemade and they leave it to the customer to season them to taste, which we appreciated. They are located on a side street off of M46 in Sandusky. They don't have a sign at the road yet but you'll find the connecting road on the North side of the highway, between the Westpark Motor Inn and Jerry's Foodland. 4 stars for breakfast....it's the best one in town. The atmosphere is cozy, with real dining room furniture, antique dishes and teapots for decor, and lots of freshly baked goods. The tea is served in a real teapot with an antique teacup, with a choice of herbal and decaf teas. The Mennonites that own the place are nice, and the food is very much like what they cook at home. Not much in terms of spices, kinda bland dinners for my taste, but I use a lot of spices and seasonings in my cooking. The majority of the others I've eaten with have really enjoyed it. The one exception is the nachos...like another reviewer said below, the gal I was with had two bites and pushed it away, saying it tasted sugary sweet. I love meeting friends here for a nice cup of tea and either breakfast or a dessert. It's a relaxed setting, so don't go if you're in a rush. But for anyone craving food like Grandma used to make, this is the place. read more

Recently ate here for the first time. Having been out of the area for the last little while, I am happy to have learned of this establishment. Being just off the main drag might make it harder to spot right away, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. We had the pizza, and felt that was very fresh, and high quality. We stay at the Westpark Inn for business regularly, so we decided to give this new restaurant a try. Okay...so here is the skinny...what appears to be a home cooking based place, nice and cozy, staff kind of put off by the two of us, not friendly, other diners were apparently known and were treated with white glove care. Our service ,although adequate, was just that, adequate. It seems by the looks of the delicious pastries for sale at the counter, that breakfast is their strong suit. We unfortunately went for dinner. The salad bar was not temperature controlled, or if it was, the ice had long since melted. I was going to have some of the macaroni salad, but upon bringing the spoon up and out of it, there was a very well defined darker scab like layer on top...yuck. I ordered the pork roast special..$12.00 plus 2 more for the salad bar..one piece of pork "jerky" 2 inch by 4 inch. Mashed potatoes were similar to hot tapioca pudding, slimy. Peas and carrots were dried out and shriveled on top, whole plate was lukewarm at best. No bread offered. Beverages served in cans?? I attempted to eat the pork special, but with 3\4 of it still on my plate I pushed it to the side ..companions panini. $10.99 with no fries!! Total bill 32.00 for a plate of garbage, 1 small panini and two cans of diet cola...oops,..forgot the two hot salad bars. I would say that their niche must be breakfast, because the rest of what I saw delivered to other tables, was as bad looking as ours was. We paid and left, not wanting to hurt the Mennonite ladies feelings, even though we felt like aliens being waited on the whole time. Since it is a small town, we just didn't want to cause a ruckus in the restaurant. If that meal had been brought to me in a larger city, I would have stood up and left. But hey, all the baked goods looked fabulous, should have ordered brownies for dinner! read more

What a quaint place! It is definitely an atmosphere to relax in! The service was nice, the food was fabulous-all home cooked and locally grown produce! I hate to write bad reviews but. If this place is still open this time next year I'll be amazed. Just beautiful inside and nicely decorated and very clean. That's the end of the good.. VERY DISAPPOINTING. ....... Breakfast was all I tried to get. I over ordered just to try some of the items on the menu. Prices that are 10 to 15% above normal for this area.. $9.75 for a all meat 3 egg omelet. Ordered 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and it was cold and out of a can.. no idea of what eggs over medium should be. Cooked hard and cold. Hash browns that where more like leftover mashed potatoes and re-cooked. The homemade breakfast sausage was a tube of grease and gristle and just pork no spices. And instead of toasting the bread, it was grilled on one side and tasted like the onions that where on the grill before. All of this after a 40 minute wait with only about 10 people in the hole place.. If I could give this place a minus star's it would be about -4 out of 5 ..... 1 for clean! read more

Doesn't even deserve ONE star. Worst meal I have ever had. Not to mention that one sloppy joe is $7.99. For ONE! Which was cold and nasty. Ordered fries with it, since nothing came with it, which were $4.99 with chili sauce...which were cold. I can only base this on what we ordered. I ordered nachos supreme and the ingredients were fresh, but it had a funny sweet taste to it and hardly any meat at all. I only had a few bites and just was not enjoying the taste. My husband ordered sausage gravy over biscuits. It was a huge unappetizing amount and it was only lukewarm. It tasted like canned meat or meat out of a jar - not very good. After they re-warmed it, we took it to go and promptly threw it in the trash. The wife and I are local to the area and have seen a few advertisements for this new restaurant. I met the owner's father at the local barber shop a few months back. So we were in town last night and decided to try it out. The regular menu is breakfast and sandwiches. They do have daily dinner specials. My wife ordered a breakfast omelette (served all day) & I ordered the Reuben sandwich (both the hash browns and the fries were greasy) The menu seemed pricey for a family style eatery. The omelette was over $9.00. They had a dinner special on the board (Liver & Onions) $11.99 and it was $3.00+ to add a salad bar... There are several eateries we frequent that the salad bar would have been included with the dinner special! Further while they say on the door that they accept credit/debit cards, our bill was less the $20.00 so they added a $1.00 to the bill to pay with a debit card. Prices are what you would typically find at Big Boy as was the experience. Was not a huge fan of the fries. I have made home made fries before and they weren't as soggy, had better texture and flavor. Cheeseburger with most of the toppings ordered. Tomato was either from the day before or from an overly ripe one. Did not taste right at all. The decor is beautiful as are all of the carnival glassware and EAPG pieces. The waitress was the only one who spoke with us and we there were only 2 tables taken, ours included. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and was disappointed as well as her bacon being under cooked. Figured we would give it a shot since it was new but we will be sticking with our usual choice of Bob & Jamies Grill across from the courthouse. read more

So sorry to have to write this review. It was encouraging to see the Mennonite ladies in the back cooking. Alas, that went down in flames---fast. First, it was hot and stuffy in there. There was no air-conditioning on---I sat there suffering though out the meal. The meal that I ordered was sausage gravy over biscuits. The gravy was not even remotely seasoned and it was runny in places. The biscuits were not light and savory. The ham that was in the gravy looked liked Spam and the bacon was undercooked. The service was adequate. She was not un-friendly but she wasn't friendly either. When my water glass was refilled --it wasn't done correctly. Usually it is dumped and then replaced with fresh ice and nice cold water...No... it was refilled to be sure but it was room temperature. Needless to say, I was not pleased and for the prices they charged it was really a crying shame. If there was a rating system of zero I would have given it. The place may be pretty but the quality of the food and the service needs to be revamped and vastly improved. read more
