On the 4*/5* border, it might be a 5* if I'd ordered slightly differently. They name themselves after dolsot, which are super-hot stone bowls. They do a good job of it, and most of their menu is dolsot bibimbap with different toppings. The question I have is: is this place better than any other place that does dolsot bibimbap, or is it just a good that's hard to get wrong? That said, the rice was crispened nicely by the end, the ingredients were all cooked and seasoned well, and the banchan were extremely fresh, although with a smaller portion than I might have liked. I found the eel to be perhaps too tender since it fell apart so much that it was tough to eat with chopsticks, although it was very flavorful and rich-tasting. read more

Another delicious meal here! And as usual, great service. We both ordered dishes we haven't had before. The Stir Fry Dolsot with Pork Belly, spicy, for my husband. The Curry Rice Dolsot with Chicken, medium, for me. My husband also had beer and I had some Honeyed Ginger Tea. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The owners (a married couple) are the servers, and they are the best. They know what they are serving and how to serve it. My son had the Dolsot before, and it was ok. The server stirred it so the rice doesn't get too crispy. It tastes much better. The restaurant looks better inside than it does from the outside. My family loved it. The food here is always amazing. On a normal night you may run into a wait around the usual dinner times but it's the best place to eat when it's cold outside. It will warm you right up and hit the spot for that comfort food you've been craving. Our kids love the kids menu with a mini rice bowl and my husband and I love their Korean options. Ate here for the first time for lunch today, Very clean and modern with a good ambiance. They bring you 6 small samples of Korean sides (complimentary.) I had a Korean salad, the Yachae muchim--it was different and with a little heat and it was fantastic. For an entree I chose the popular Dolsot Bibimbab with pork and and the brown rice option for $2 more. It is served sizzling hot and takes a few minutes to cool down enough to eat so you have time to mix it up well. Service was very friendly and attentive. A beautiful, clean restaurant with excellent authentic Korean food. I got the stir-fried Dolsot with shrimp and brown rice (I absolutely love that they have brown rice here). It tasted substantial -- there was a special taste to it that I could only guess meant that it was very fresh and made with expertise. I had the same experience with the Jab Chae -- a dish made with translucent sweet potato noodles. Every ingredient was fresh and well made, with a good spiciness to it. Chef Sung Jung Oh has exemplary culinary skills. I first tasted his authentic Korean food, at his downtown Cincinnati establishment, "Sungs Korean Bistro". Walking into Chef Sung Jung Oh's bistro transported you to Korea with its beautiful architectural design (Note: the Chef actually designed and built out the entire restaurant himself!) and the savory smells of dolsot bibimbap wafting through the air. The presentation of the venue, and especially, the food, would garner five stars in any city. Traveling back through Cincinnati to find that "Sungs" was closed was a sad day. One of my destination restaurants had gone away. Upon finding "Dolsot Bistro" and realizing that this was Chef Sung reborn in a new location, I immediately created a VIP contact in my phone. From the outside the restaurant would be easy to overlook, but when you get inside it's roomy and sleek looking. I went on a Monday evening and there were only a few other tables. Service was attentive and very personable. Lots of smiles, very nice. I ordered the seafood that comes with rice and vegetables in the hot stone bowl and got that wow factor. It did take a while to become cool enough to really enjoy, and the chef mixed up my food for me. The flavors were on point, and I'm so happy to say that I ate every last bit of it because I'm traveling and wouldn't be able to reheat leftovers. It had a lot of flavor and the rice got nice and crispy on the bottom of the bowl. I ordered mine medium spice level and it wasn't too spicy at all for my tastes. As usual I ordered my go to favorite, stone bowl (hot) beef bibimbap. When they brought out my food it was piping hot, which was good because I love crispy rice bits, but it was so BLAND and under-seasoned! The Gochujang hot sauce wasn't even spicy (I'm normally not a spicy lover) and the beef was tough/over-cooked. The banchan (little starter side dishes) were pretty decent with good flavors. Is this place bad? Absolutely not. Is this place great? Debatable. I wouldn't consider this a top Cincinnati restaurant by any means, but if someone really wanted to go there I'd tag along. read more

Best Bibimbap in the city! Great place! Reasonably priced. It can be deceiving because it is in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. The ambiance is great. Its simple, clean and nice. They have nice large bench seats that are super comfortable. Although it is casual, it does have a nice slightly upscale feel. The service is always great and I am always surprised by how quickly my food is brought out. This is the best Bibimbap in the city - hands down! It gets nice and crispy. And I think I've tried pretty much most of them. I have to say that i haven't ventured far from this dish because I cant resist ordering it bit I have complete confidence that everything is just as amazing. My hubby and I enjoyed out dinner at Dolsot Bistro. We actually planned to come to the Korean restaurant that was previously in this location (Sura), but we were happy to try Dolsot. We almost didn't get to have dinner there since they've installed a Ring doorbell. We rang it but no-one answered. We peeked in and saw others dining, but we had to ring it a few times before someone answered. (Thus, the one less star.) Will have to say she was apologetic and explained that they had limited staff due to Covid, so they were limiting the number of diners. We were seated at a nice booth. Covid precautions were taken, as only every other booth was used and tables were spaced apart. As for the food, we enjoyed everything that we ordered. We got the Korean pancake/pajun with vegetables. It was delish and loved the vinegary sauce that it comes with it. Yum! Then we each ordered the dolsot bibimbap. His was with pork and mine with chicken. Really appreciate the spicy red paste on the side, since my hubby likes his a lot spicier than I do :o). The banchan sides were fresh and delicious too. Overall, a very good meal! read more

Lovely meal. Dukbokki (Cleveland spelling on that one) was very tasty, if a little more carrot-heavy than I'm used to. The dolsot bibimbap was as good as I've had. Huge dish, sizzling hot, with tasty fillings. I added a lot of gochujang, but I typically like it spicy. My only regret is that I was dining alone, so I didn't have the opportunity to try more dishes. Otherwise, I would have liked to try their kimchi jigae, kimbap, and kimchi scallion pancake.
