Fabulous new owners - we went in and they took so much time to explain a couple coins we had, and they made an offer that was very fair. Although we didn't originally take the offer two days later my wife went back to sell her coin and he was just as nice the second time around and took just as much time. NEW OWNERSHIP... But each card he priced with cents, literally. Don Mattingly Roomie except a $300 Kobe Bryant, Bo Jackson Classic card, BarryBonds Rookie card, Mark Mcwire Gold cup card..and totop it all off he said my 1st round draft pick Frank Thomas was worth 0.60. Just warning you all not to go here. I went here as a kid so it's disappointing to see how he tries to scam people. Chasing money gets you nowhere in life. read more

I asked if they had silver because it's hard to come by and the gentleman confirmed they did. Have tried to check out the shop for a long time. On this date I found it open and that may not have been a good thing. It seems to have been here for many years. There lots of things everywhere from older trading card boxes and sets, to vinyl and video cassettes. There is very little room to move around and look at stuff. It has lots of stuff, nothing that interested me. Lack of being able to walk around and fact I walked in and was in store for 5 minutes, saw 2 older gentleman, neither asked if I needed help or even said a word to me. "Their dog legit bit me" I have not had good experiences here in the past, but it has been a while and I thought I would pop in while I was passing by. I don't know what has happened but the store is a disaster - stuff is everywhere, disorganized. I don't know why they haven't hired some help to clean up and organize - but, I waited my turn and eventually Craig asked how he could help. I asked to see the bucket of dimes and go through them. He asked how many I wanted but I said I wanted to go through so I could pick out the ones I needed for my book. He responded with "oh, no no no no", and put them back in the case. He said they are for bulk only. I said I was looking for specific ones so I didn't want to buy them in bulk. He said he had something in the back and returned with some of the blue-foldered books with dimes in them. I thought I was going to look through and pick some out but he told me I have to buy the whole book. - This doesn't make collecting coins very easy at all... I looked through a couple of nickels and eventually he said I could look through the dimes. I was really appreciative but also felt uncomfortable. It feels like I'm inconveniencing him just trying to buy some coins for my collection. I understand that many people want to buy and sell silver but maybe just open up a silver and gold shop instead of a coin shop. I picked out the ones I wanted and paid. When I was leaving, their poodle started barking at me and jumping on me, digging its nails into my back and arms. I'm just trying to leave. Then, it nipped at me. I'm still trying to get the door open and their dog legit bit me - full teeth, not just a little nibble. I'm already feeling uncomfortable - like my business isn't really important. The store is so disorganized and messy. And I was bit by their dog. That is beyond inappropriate. Even with the difficulty I might have returned, but not now. Something needs to be done. I recognize that the dogs offer protection, but should not be doing it at the expense of biting customers - and there is no way I'm the first person who has been bit. I wouldn't have written this review but being bit by your dog is not okay. read more

First off, I used to visit this coin shop on a regular basis throughout the early 1980s until the early 1990s with my late father. For that reason, it is always been a very sacred place filled with memories. In the past week, I decided to go by and meet the new owners and I was fortunate enough to meet Kerry. I had some silver that I wanted to sell, and while he was evaluating the silver, we swapped some stories with each other. Not only was my experience just like it was with the previous owners, but it was even greater with the new owner. Kerry was kind, honest and professional. This is your go to shop to not only buy amazing offerings they have but to also sell your precious metals if you are doing so. Honesty and integrity is very tough to find these days but it was given and demonstrated within the first seconds of meeting Kerry. Absolutely LOVE Riverside Stamp & Coin in the Brockton Arcade. Whenever I pay a visit, I wind up staying for hours! Craig is a hoot! Hes a music lover and afficionado. He knows everything! I'm pretty adept in music (for a girl!) He turns on the Stores TV and starts quizzing me!! Stamp & Coin is as unique as you can get. They've got everything in there. I was fortunate enough on one visit to be taken on a tour of the store. Amazing. Eclectic. Unusual. Curious. Interesting. That's exactly what they've got for you in their jam-packed location! Yes they've got stamps and coins. They've also got a whole lot of other items, including one of-a-kinds, collectibles, trading cards, dolls, art, statues, decor. You name it and it's most likely there! And it doesn't hurt that he and his wife are super duper folks! They've had a LONG run at their Riverside location. When I go in there I can't help but suspect that their retirement is nearing. As it is, they drive up from San Diego every single day to open the doors to the public! That's crazy! I got to know them pretty well over the years. I will surely shed a tear when they decide to close up. It'll be a sad day for Riverside indeed. 5 Stars. I'd give 10 if I could! Thanks to you both . This place has been ripping off sellers for years. When I was a kid I brought in some mint condition confederate notes from $10-$50. He told me and a friend they were not worth much and gave us 50 cents a piece for them. I went back weeks later and found them for sale from $20. to $50.00 each. I later got a dime from them sold to me for almost $6.00. Went back months later to see what it was worth and the guy told me it was very common and that he would give me 15 cents. This was back in the mid 1970's. Looks like be relatives of original owners. read more

Poor service, rude, and terrible business practice. My girlfriends grandmother had recently passed and we found her stamps she's been saving since the 50s. All we asked is if we could get some insight of the value of the stamps. All he said, and kept saying, is that any modern stamps will have to be added up and will be bought at half of face value. He absolutely refused to help us determine the value of any of the stamps. He wouldn't even look at the stamps. We kept asking how do we determine the age and he would respond with "the book they are in should have a date". They were loose stamps and he still refused to help. And then he had the nerve to tell us to use them when we mail out letters. I myself had brought in my late grandfathers coin collection. It wasn't much, but he had invest quite a bit into the collection. I open up the case and he didn't even look at what I had brought in, just saw that I had sets of minted coins. All he said was "Each set is about five bucks" I've sold duplicates of three of the sets in the past and got $250. Not to mention the toothless old man that was screaming into the phone at someone because he didn't want to use a computer to change his pin. Will never return to this shop ever again. read more

Why do people even bother with this place?! My mom came in here and stood at the counter waiting to be helped. The man behind the counter was helping another customer and clearly saw her, but yet didn't say anything to her (no we'll be right with you, no greeting or anything). So, after the customer left, the man behind the counter left the area with my mom still standing their patiently waiting to be helped.She has been next to the customer that had left so he knew she was there. It became overwhelmingly clear that this employee (or owner) did NOT want to help my mom. My mom insists it was because she was black. After seeing the other reviews here, it appears that the people who work here and/or the owner(s) just flat out suck. They could be racists, I dunno, but they don't treat their customers/potential customers well at all. I would not spend money on any business that treats people this way. read more

My 6 year old son received a jar of coins from his great Grandmother for Christmas and has been wanting to start a coin collection for about a year, so my husband and myself brought him into this coin shop. I have never been so disappointed in my life! First my son was so shy it took all he had to just ask for help, when the man finally came over, my son told him he was interested in starting a coin collection starting with these coins he had received for Christmas and that he needed to know how. The man picked up the jar of coins and rudely said "these coins are worthless, I sell coins like these- 12 for a dollar". It took all I had in me to not respond negatively like I wanted to. I asked the man if there were coin sleeves or other ways to organize the coins to help him start collecting. The man said " If you have to, just put them in jars by size". This was such and awful experience for my son... What kind of person responds negatively and discourages a child when they are interested in doing something healthy like collecting coins. So because my 6 year old son does not have hundreds of dollars worth in coins he should just give up and not start a collection? I just don't get why he was so mean and negative! And to make it all worse, my son was so saddened by the situation he went home and put his coins back on his shelf and said "maybe it wasn't a good idea to try and be a coin collector". It broke my heart to see my little Cub Scout so discouraged, like he wasn't good enough to collect coins anymore. read more
