This place never disappoints. Never. Whether you get chicken, pork or beef its always so incredibly moist and a really good value. Their bbq sauce though is what takes the cake. If you are traveling through its maybe 7 minutes from the interstate and well worth travelling past the taco bell and mcdonalds at the exit to get some real food that comes out quick. We were in a hurry today but didn't mention it and were literally in and out in 15 minutes. Haven't tried it but on our way out saw a girl order a baked potato that was as big as Rhode Island that was smothered with bbq. Ill be back to try that soon. read more

Every time we are in Ozark, we make it a point to come to Rivertowne BBQ at least once (but usually multiple times). They've got a simple menu that is delicious. I generally stick with the chopped brisket or the pulled pork with delicious sides like cole slaw and fried green tomatoes. These guys know their BBQ and the meat is smoked to perfection. It's a moderate price point and easy for families. They've got a few different sauces that appease everyone, I really like the meat comes out without sauce so you can dress it up however you want. coworker told me about this place after one of his motorcycle rides said it was the best barbecue he had ever eaten. So me and the wife didn't have much to do we decided to roll over to Fort Smith and do some shopping when I remember this barbecue place was only about 40 more miles down the road. To make a long sTory shorT 140 miles is worTh every mile driven. We shared a combo platter that had three ribs pulled pork and sliced brisket with sides of baked beans and corn on the cob. I'm the type of person when I try a new barbecue place I have to try it without the sauce first because anybody can make a good with BBQ sauce on it was great either way. I am a retired 50 % disabled veteran. While on vacation, my family stopped in to have a nice family meal. After the meal I asked the owner if he offered a military discount, he laughed in my face then in a sarcastic tone said "Yeah, last week" then turned his back and walked off... Overall is it just as the rating says.. "A-OK". 4 adults and a child. Everyone was mostly pleased and there are no complaints about the portions or the service (we had a very sweet and competent waitress). Prices were fair and reasonable to us. The mac & cheese was a hit, the corn on the cob was a BIG hit, fried okra, beans.. all acceptable or better. I really liked the potato salad, but that a personal thing, so the table was split. It has sour cream in it for sure, and I liked that dill, mustard, sour cream flavor - skin on tators.. good. Pulled pork was good, the ribs were given high grades. But I have to say, my brisket was tough and dry. Tough. And. Dry. At the end of the day, you aren't going to be a great BBQ place with that brisket. Not happy. The BBQ sauces were mild and hot and the hot has a bite, but there were very good mixed. The green beans were loved by all and the house salad - though over-cheesed - was fresh and good. I went there a week ago with no expectations. Was pleasantly surprised to find out that their barbecue is really good. My wife and I both had the combination plate and all the meat was cooked to perfection in and it was a nice pink color. The meat was delicious and tender, fall off the bone good. I do think that they need to work a little bit on their sauces. I have had a lot of different sauces, and this one has a bit to much vinegar. Wow. I mean wow. We were on our way home from doing the wine tour in Altus and found this joint on yelp. Wow. I ordered the pork nachos and boyfriend ordered the pork potato. I don't think my eyes have ever bugged as they did when the waitress brought us our food. For $17 we ate an amazing meal and have enough for dinner. Best BBQ I have had in a while. I ordered the jumbo pulled pork sandwich (which looked no bigger than a regular except the size of the bun) and it tasted tremendous! I chose the baked beans as a side and I must say, they were the best baked beans I think I've ever had from a BBQ restaurant. I ordered the hot wings as an appetizer and they were really good, except they were not spicy at all and only came with 6 wings. Should have included 8 for the price. Overall, 5 stars! read more

I've heard that it's now under new ownership. The food was the same as always....excellent! I've read some other reviews about the portions being smaller, but I didn't notice any change. We were here for lunch and everyone left completely satisfied. It did take longer than normal to get our food, but I've never had bad service here so I can't take a star off for just this one time. FYI- kids chicken tenders are huge, so although the menu says it comes with 1, that will be plenty for most kids. A "15 minute wait" turned into more than 45. And then a group of 15 came in at least 30 minutes after us are seated before us, which is a group of 6. When I ask the reason, I'm told that the 15 were set in an area for a small group. We were seated 10 minutes later. The "small room" was not only for 15 but had several tables. We have been eating there for 10+ years. This has ALWAYS been one of our favorite places to eat but since it has changed ownership we were VERY disappointed in our last 2 visits. Waitresses were friendly as always, but the appetizer meatballs known as possum dumplings (we ordered these nearly every visit) were horrible and could not finish them! The taste of all the meats we have tried since the change in ownership has COMPLETELY CHANGED as if completely different recipe and/or different wood in the smoker. We also LOVED the quality taste of the french fries and now they are worse than fast food!! Now a moment of silence for the death of Arkansas greatest BBQ................
