Allison is rude and always giving me nasty looks. She has a serious personality problem. I was never offered a beverage after four visits despite them offering to others. I had a really great experience a few weeks ago with Stephanie (I believe that was the aestheticians name). The receptionist who helped me book 2 last minute appointments was also super accommodating. I received one of the speciality facials. She was super safe, wore a shield+mask etc. I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. My friend also got a massage by Jeff, he said it was one of the best he's gotten in years. We've been to Mohonk, Emerson, Buttermilk, and while they're all very nice places to go for a spa experience, the services received here were just as good and reasonably priced. My son had given me a gift certificate to use at the spa. I had a wonderful experience! Jeanette my massage therapist was awesome and I cannot praise her enough. I had a decent facial although it couldn't have been better. The aesthetician was very friendly and nice. I then went on to my pedicure which was mediocre I've had so much better but she was also going to be my hairdresser and she gave me wonderful advice on my hair and products I was using and gave me a great wash and blow out unfortunately I did forget their names. Me and my mother went in for two pedicures. It didn't feel like a spa when you walk in. We had two lady's doing our feet. One girl seemed nice the other not very pleasant ,seemed very rushed. They did a very poor job on our feet plus we got home and the bottoms of our feet felt like sand paper. So basically we paid them for nothing, and now pay more money at another salon where they know what they are doing. Extremely disappointed! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON! RUN WHILE YOU CAN! I have been a clients of sues (the owner) for almost 10 years! I have followed her from one salon to another. For the most part I have been very satisfied. This last visit was horrendous! I had gone in to get my hair cut by sue for my birthday. When I had gotten there Sue had seemed on edge, I brushed this off to a long day seeing how I was one of her last clients for the day. She spent maybe 15 minutes actually cutting my hair which is unusual giving my past experiences with her. After an hour and little to no conversation I paid the $55 fee and a $10 tip and left. The next day I was doing my hair at home and noticed that something didn't look right. Upon closer inspection I noticed my hair was uneven and not blended. It looked as if someone had just did one blunt cut across the front section of my hair and nothing else. Horrified and on the verge of tears I called Sue. Her response to me came as a complete shock and absolutely disgusted me. She told me that she had given me the hair cut I asked for (personally I don't remember asking for a bad hair cut) and that I was styling it wrong. After that comment I asked if she could refund me my money due to the fact that I will have to go somewhere else to have my hair fixed. She refused and continued to tell me that I am no longer welcome at her salon. For an owner to not acknowledge that she had made a mistake and refuse to even try to rectify the situation made me sick to my stomach. I returned to the salon on week later to revisit the issue of the refund. She told me she would not refund my money and to get out. Not only will I never return to this salon but I will tell anyone and everyone about this experience. It is in complete distaste and poor judgement for an owner or stylist in general to treat any customer in the manor that she treated me. read more

RUN AWAY. I came here with a friend for a massage at first. The young woman, Jamie, at the front desk was an absolutely sweetheart- very professional and genuine- so I was horrified when I heard her boss not-so-subtley tell her to start cleaning up the area I was waiting in! Owner did not seem to even notice me. Simone and Jeff did our massages and were the epitome of professionals in addition to being pros at the job. Very satisfied. Before leaving, I noticed haircuts were cheap ($20) so I thought I'd get one. One young man was about to take me, but then the owner snapped and pawned me off to someone else! Then a THIRD man washed my hair. I felt very unimportant being thrown around to all the different guys, and could SEE the owner keeping a close eye on the man (Joel?) that ended up cutting my hair. I felt like the 3 men were inexperienced, and my haircut- although cheap- did not come out how I wanted. I asked for it shorter 3 times but Jo seemed afraid to go for it. I also heard the 3 male stylists talking smack about other employees AND the owner which to me is unacceptable. Overall, I left the place feeling torn. Half of my experience was amazing, and the other half was very unsettling. I think all the good ones need to open their own place! My husband treated me to a 30 minute massage, mini-facial, manicure, and spa pedicure as a surprise Valentine's Day gift. It was my first time at this spa. The massage ranked average among previous massages I've received. My masseuse Kristen didn't use enough pressure, and although I felt badly, I finally had to ask her to use more pressure. Unfortunately, at that moment my time was just about up. Overall relaxing though, and I was still on Cloud Nine that my husband had surprised me with such a treat. Jen did my facial and nails, and she was great! The facial consisted of cleansing, steaming, exfoliating, and moisturizing, and my face was glowing when I was finished. I loved my manicure and pedicure, and Jen was fun to talk to, which is always nice when you're getting your nails done. When I smudged one of my fingernails as I was leaving the spa, she was happy to quickly fix it up again. Overall, a great experience. My friend and I were not able to book massages, everyone was booked up so we decided to get a spa pedicure. When we arrived ( we had an appointment) the person doing our pedicures asked if we minded being split up, meaning there were three chairs, we would have to sit with a person in between us, not ideal, but we were fine with it. My nail tech. did not say a word to me, she just sat down and got to work, which is fine! There was some talk about a jet being broken in the basin where my friend was sitting, , after discussion it was decided to get out the spare one. Halfway through my pedicure, my tech got up, walked away, and came back with another client, she started doing her nails, not a word to me. I sat there with paraffin on my feet for over 20 min while she took care of another client. My friend was done and sitting outside already when my tech decided to come back. She did not apologize for the wait or even acknowledge her absence. My friend's pedicure was very good and looked amazing for long after, mine chipped the next day. I would have given one star, but my friend really enjoyed hers. I have had wonderful massages here in the past, I will not do another pedicure. read more

I was and continue to be very happy with the color and cut that Sue styled for me. She gave me beautiful highlights and only trimmed what was needed off my length. I only get my hair done a few times a year so I prioritize quality of experience and outcome. Sue did not disappoint. I respect her dedication to the art of hair and her interest in matching hair style/color to the client. The customer service I received from Nicole and Fernando was also very warm and friendly. I got treated for my birthday to a Brown Sugar Scrub and Massage. All the packages included facials, which I was not interested in having. The ambiance of the salon was very pleasant (although the satellite radio "spa" station was a tad bit on the cheesy side) and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. They had a little changing room with lockers and keys and provided robes. I waited in the lounge and was a bit chilly. I started with the Brown Sugar scrub. The treatment room was also a bit chilly and the sugar was COLD. The scrub was administered well. I was directed to the changing room to shower. The shower head was very high and not adjustable (bring a shower cap if you want to keep your hair dry). I'd have liked a removable shower arm to get all the sugar rinsed off more easily. Back to the treatment room where I sat on the table with a couple small towels to cover me for 5-8 minutes - remember the room is chilly. then I got rubbed down with lotion; this was nice but more than I really needed. I waited in the ladies' lounge for about 10 minutes (still cold) and then met my boyfriend for couple's massage. Finally I mentioned that I was chilly. The masseuse apologized for that. There was a space heater in the room that no one turned on. The table had heating pads and my boyfriend's table was warm. Mine felt cold. When the Masseurs came back in the room I mentioned that I wanted to make sure my heating pad was on. They never turned on the space heater, but about halfway through my massage my table had warmed up nicely. We both thought our massages were good. The price was decent and the experience pleasant. I'm not sure I will seek it out again. If I do, I will insist on a heated room. read more

I would have been better going to a shopping mall manicure/pedicure salon and asking for a $10 massage add-on. My masseuse did not follow any instructions regarding areas to focus on. I told her what I wanted her to focus on by circling the attention areas on their customer sign in, told her again before walking into the room, and then a final time during the massage. It seemed like she had her own ideas and the fact that I was paying $130 did not matter. There are far too many spas in the Newburgh area to consider coming back to this place. I come back every mother's day because when I come here, you truly get pampered, hot tea, coffee or wine if you like while decompressing in relaxtion room. Amazing facials, massages, blow outs and mani-pedis... I dont know how anyone could leave a review for this spa that is less than 5 outstanding, well deserved stars. We had 7 people and they let us decorate the nail area & play some small games, & they even gave us a complimentary mimosa station with fruit and cupcakes! This is my first review on Yelp and unfortunately it's going to be a bad one. My husband got me a gift certificate for Christmas. I am usually sceptical about where I go for manicures and pedicures but the place looked clean and professional so I made an appt. When I called the woman on the phone told me I wouldn't have enough time to get the pedicure I really wanted so I settled on the express pedicure. It was a mediocre pedicure, I had better experiences. The ma Manicure was a complete disaster. I had nail polish all over my fingers, it was like I asked my little sister to do my nails. The real problem started about a week after my pedicure. I started getting these little red bumps on both my feet, I happened to be at the doctor and she said it looks like eczema and gave me a lotion to treat it. These little red bumps turned into huge round blisters. I went back to the doctor and she gave me a steroid lotion and told me if it don't clear up to see a dermatologist. I went to the dermatologist who told me u have ringworm on my feet. I racked my brain and the only logical explanation is that Riverview probably did not clean there sink and or pedicure supplies. I will never go here again. I have spent close to 200$ on doctors visits and medication to treat this. I am absolutely disgusted that a place that likes to be high end does not sterilize properly. read more

I never write reviews, but feel that I have to for this place. I went here with my bridesmaids for my wedding last month and had an awful experience. I'm kind of embarrassed about the amount of money my bridesmaids spent for what they received. I am not from the area and had decided to forgo a trail- first mistake. I came with a very clear picture of how I wanted my hair, and the stylist really struggled to understand what I wanted, despite asking for exactly what was in the picture and explaining it the best I could in my non-hairdresser lingo. She seemed friendly though and was making conversation. However, after a couple minutes of giving the benefit of the doubt, I wasn't at all happy with where she was going with it, so I asked for a couple changes. She then responded by arguing the difference between a twist and a curl (despite the picture) and said that I had better have made my mind up because she wasn't going to re-do it again. I ended up with what I wanted after some significant arguing, but I felt like I had to be far more assertive than what felt comfortable in order for that to happen. I also had to put many more pins in throughout the night to keep it that way. One of my bridesmaids also had her ear seriously burned by another stylist's curling iron. I had my makeup done by a very polite and friendly woman. She did seem to struggle though with the idea of what "natural" might look like. She started with very heavy eyeliner which I was pretty horrified about when I opened my eyes. I asked her if she could make it a little lighter, which she did, but the process of removing the heavy-duty makeup made my eyelids pretty red for the following couple of hours. Aside from the heavy eye makeup, she only used a light mineral powder and blush (which was great) but didn't even ask about lips. When she was finishing up, I wasn't exactly pleased but was a little scared and frustrated. It didn't seem like there was a chance of making it right, so I opted to just pay the $130 + tip and head back to get a better look. The eyeliner ended up sitting well above my lash line, leaving an area of skin between the line and my lashes that I didn't notice until I got much closer to the mirror. I ended up re-doing my makeup and was much happier with my own work. Basically, I should have had trials. That being said, I'm really not that picky and the staff seemed to be unwelcome to working with me when I tried to make requests or clarify what I wanted. I'm not a confrontational person and would typically just accept whatever I got, but felt that this quality of work just wasn't acceptable for such an important (and well-documented) day. The website also promises a river view, which I saw none of while actually in the salon. I've never had a cut, color, mani or any of the spa services, so I don't know about them, but I would steer very clear for wedding styling. read more

I got a certificate for my birthday for this spa, the Swedish massage. The people that I encountered were very nice but did not do a good job. I did not receive the full time the massage was supposed to be and the whole thing seemed rushed like the girl couldn't wait to be done... don't think it had anything to do with me! I filled out on the chart and mentioned parts for her to concentrate on because pain areas and preference and the girl completely ignored what i had said and wrote down/filled out and just did what she wanted quickly. and as for quality, i think it was bad...any massage I have has I left feeling relaxes and even like jello sometimes. After this I had back pain 30 minutes later and just felt like someone lightly rubbed lotion all over me and in my hair for no reason....not at all worth paying for I could have done this myself or had someone do a better job for free than they did. I'm not usually picky or complain but i feel that when you pay for a service such as this you should at least be listened to and get something close to what you are expecting and pay for. read more

Due to some rough past haircuts from other salons, I'm quite particular about how I like my hair to be styled, and Sue goes above and beyond to cut my hair just right. Horrible Pedicure!!! I decided to come here to get a pedicure one day and figured I would treat myself instead of going to one of the Chinese places. I honestly would've been better off. The girl never even told me her name, 1st mistake right there. Then I'm paying $45 for her to barely scrub the callas's on my feet which aren't bad to begin with since I get regular pedicures every 4 weeks. Then the massages was very weak and short. So I at least hoped they were going to look fine after but no some of my nails were filed crooked and the polishing job was very sloppy. As a nail tech myself I don't feel the need to tell people what I do so maybe they would do a better job. It should be done automatically. I like going other places than where I work because it's more relaxing not to know anyone but I will definitely NEVER come back here nor will I recommend anyone to. Also my mom went there to get a shellac manicure and I was mad that she never said anything or went back. She got a light color probably romantique but it was ALL OVER her cuticles. I can't believe anyone would be ok with charging someone $35 and let them leave that salon looking like a 5 year old polished her. The shellac was lifting obviously because it was all over her skin and only lasted her through the weekend. Don't charge the prices you do for shitty work.
