I had an entire morning free on a Sunday and decided to Uber over to one of the local casinos in Norman, OK. The casino is pretty good sized - includes a show theater, a buffet, English-style pub, and casual food court. All the slot machines surround the perimeter, and near the center of the casino you get a few table games and the central bar. Plenty of restrooms along the outer perimeter plus lots of self-service soft drink and coffee stations. Like other Yelpers mentioned, its a bit smokey and I do see several customers wear dust masks. The table games have low $5 limits but apparently Oklahoma gaming laws require a 50 cent Ante per hand. Sort of like a casino tax. If you're on a losing streak, it will accelerate. If you're on a hot streak and betting much bigger than minimum, you won't notice the pain of the Ante. Blackjack pays a full 3:2 on blackjacks and dealers stand on all 17s, which helps the player slightly. I did pretty well here and made most of my doubles and splits. Tip: Because of the Ante, bet at least $10 to $20 per hand so you don't dilute your winnings. I was pleased to see Ultimate Hold'em with $5 limits. Here, I played maybe 5-6 hands and won most of them with aggressive betting pre-flop: A-J, 7-7, and one time I held a Q-2 which turned into a full house after the board came back like K-Q-K-Q-8 Lucky for me the dealer didn't have a K! Overall a fun place to kill a few hours. I recommend playing aggressively (bet bigger than usual) for shorter play periods and not trying to play too long and grind. The 50-cent Ante does take a cumulative toll. read more

Riverwind is not a family friendly casino. We are semi local to the casino but came here for one night to stay in the hotel just to get away for a night, but we have a 3yo that we have to bring with us. The hotel rooms are basic, clean but basic, beds are squeaky. There is no pool or anything for kids to do at the hotel. We entered the casino and went to the place where you get your players card. Within about 30 seconds I had security kicking me off the floor because I had our daughter with us. We frequently stay at the Choctaw Casino even though it is 2 1/2 hours away and my child can go anywhere in the casino. They have an amazing pool for adults and kids, huge gaming area, it is just 1000X better in every way. I guess we just came here to chill in the hotel room for the night, because there is nothing else we can do having our 3yo with us. Take the drive to Choctaw Casino, because Riverwind sucks. I guess the all Chickasaw casinos have this policy, so I would suggest avoiding them if you have anyone under the age of 18 with you. read more

Went over to the casino for a little entertainment. Most of the eateries are still closed. There is a pizza place, Burger King, Mexican food quick serve, Chinese quick serve, even these places remain limited menus. Down the street is McDonald's & a sonic across the street. This state requires mask, except eating, drinking & smoking.. so that means mist don't wear them. Avoid them & go in a small area alone. read more

We stayed at the hotel and right after we checked in they told us there was not any water in the hotel. They weren't sure what happened or how long it would be. We went ahead and waited and around 10 o'clock. The water was on. The other problem was the toilet kept running water, which was probably due to the water issue earlier. The water came out dirty so we could not drink the water and didn't care to use it to take a shower. The other problem was doors shutting all night long. When we told the front desk about all the issues we were told "We are sorry". Never going back. read more

They are renovating, so we went to see the progress. They are still working on the edges but that really does not explain why the gaming floor is such a mess. I'm bumping up my ratings folks. I have been here numerous times and feel I have a real account of this casino. This place is pretty decent! I know a lot of people lose but some win real big. I have seen it. I still wait for the day of the "hand pay" but if you can take $100 to a casino, spend 4+ hours there and leave with more than you started with, you are doing good. And you can't do that at every casino. Here you can. I have my favorite games as I am sure many do, but still have not won the BIG ONE yet. One day hopefully. It is a really good casino and the buffet is decent too. All the staff who work here are all very pleasant. Ventilation has been a bit better over the last few times I have went but I still have to strip down and wash my clothes after I get home, and because of this, I limit what clothes I will wear there. Payout percentages are set too low. Save your money goto Vegas where payout percentages are much higher. Even spending the extra money on hotels with pools and air it's cheaper than going to Indian casinos. Free drinks, better food, better comps and much higher payouts. I got offered a free room and play here. When I got back from gambling I wanted to rest and when I went to lay down there was a bed bug crawling across the bed!!!!! My person demanded we leave. We were extremely freaked out! When I asked for another room they moved me but that was it. No compensation for the inconvenience or loss of rest due to this issue. Riverwind has too few table games while simultaneously having too many smokers. The blackjack dealers with whom I interacted were all very pleasant, but I couldn't sit for more than about 45 minutes before the cigarette smoke started to give me a headache and disrupt my play. Riverwind does have a non-smoking area available, but the area doesn't have any table games; it's just slot machines. And while food court area doesn't permit smoking, diners still have to deal with smoke because the area has no walls to separate it from the rest of the smoke-filled casino. I'd love to play there more, but the smoke just makes the casino insufferable and gross. read more

I've been going since it's opened. I have given them probably $150k since. You never win, they don't have to follow the same federal laws that Vegas casinos do. They can simply take all your money. I have never left up, even money a couple times. Like today, after a 3 month absence we went and lost $300 in 10 min. Doesn't matter what you play. The place smells horrible! To many smokers. The Chips and Ale restaurant is the worst. Waited for an hour for a chicken sandwich. 2pm on a Tuesday and no one in the place! When it arrived the French Fries were soaked with grease and burnt. I would like to give them less than a one! It has been like this for two years now and they seem to care! Riverwind does not have a good place to eat in the joint. The food and beverage Manager must Let's talk about the Casino! No extra sanitation stations in the place! No one wiping off machines after guests us them! The Tribe that owns this casino don't care about their guests at all! They had plenty of time to make this place better and safe for guests to return! They did nothing! I don't gamble so I only went for the All You Can Eat buffet. And thank goodness my boyfriend had a coupon for 2 free dinners because it was no where close to worth $39.95/person! Not even with the snow and king crab legs. First strike is the casino allows smoking inside and the smoke was sickingly thick, which made me nauseous while standing in line. We got there a little after 6 pm (the buffet is Saturdays 5 - 10 pm) and the line was already pretty long. You stand in line to pay, then in another line to be seated, then another line for the crab legs, the another line to go down the food line... Second strike was we didn't actually sit down to eat until 8:20 pm so we had stood in line for 2 hours! We noticed the serving line was severely understaffed, which is what likely led to the extremely slow moving lines. Third strike was, aside from the crab legs, the rest of the buffet was not good. The best thing on my plate was the sweet potatoes and my boyfriend said the mashed potatoes and gravy was the best thing on his plate. Fourth strike was the line for the crab legs was so long, there was no way we were going to stand in line AGAIN, so we only got one small bucket each, of crab legs. The long lines completely ruined the whole experience. We stood in line for 2 hours for 30 min of eating. I do not recommended going to the buffet here! read more

Nicer casino. Didn't gamble much while there didn't win any either as a result. Very large assortment of slots. Skip the Buffet Restaurant. Ate there on a Saturday evening. Pretty bad, especially for the high cost. The other sit down restaurant had great food and service too. Tried it on a Friday night. Went in on a Saturday and tried out the bar. We were visiting from Dallas for the OU-UCLA football game. We were staying over night so we thought we would check out the casino. I am not a gambler but our friends from LA were with us and they wanted to check it out. The good news is my wife won $2600 on a penny machine! My buddy also won $475 on slots. We used to live near Las Vegas and my wife never hit a jackpot like that. The bad news is that it is VERY smokey. I actually sat outside by the valet parking so I could breath clean air. They offer valet parking which isn't available as readily during the day as the night which stinks some times. They have mounds of parking spaces and 2 entrances which is great on entertainment nights. This casino is better than Newcastle, Lucky, or the other ones besides WinStar. River wind is close to getting away when I don't feel like driving to WinStar. The selection is decent & the drink prices are good also. I feel like the machine-to-floorspace ratio is denser than at other casinos, to match the plentiful parking lot sprawled about outside. One of my favorite casinos in OK. It's big enough that you don't feel like you're rubbing elbows with your neighbor, but small enough to still know you're in Oklahoma. I believe Riverwind is a relatively new casino in general but it's nice to see the vibrant color changing lights from the highway when you drive by. They have a shuttle to drive you to the entrance if you park far away. And the shuttle has air conditioning so thank goodness for that. The casino itself has a really good mix of table games and slots. There are cashiers and self pay kiosks everywhere so that's not a problem and it seems as though they do respond to the lights if you turn them on for attendant assistance. Riverwind is a nice way to pass the time. The slots are hit and miss most nights but I usually break even when I leave, which for me is a good thing. My friend always walks out up. I guess I bring her good luck. Lucky hussy! They usually have pretty good live music and "showstoppers", well for a casino, ya know? I've never eaten there so I can't comment. But there's a friggin' Sonic right across the street. So.......BAM...Done! Love me some Sonic! read more

The Friday night buffet is expensive but worth every penny! The Prime Rib was incredible and the crab legs were very tasty! I spend more time at the cheesecake bar than the salad bar, but I can tell you both are pretty good as well. The line was the worst part and having to smell all the casino smoke while waiting to get into the food line. I still recommend it though. You can even drop some money in the slots while waiting! The absolute worst run buffet in the history of casinos. I understand Covid but when you're out of tables and nobody is getting up, you need to tell the people who have been waiting in line for an hour that it's going to be another hour. Also, you have to stand in line to get your food after you've stood in line over an hour for a table. On all you can eat crab night you only get one serving at a time so, the majority of your time is spent in line. There needs to be a lot more communication between guest and staff. The VIP line has to go as well. Seriously that is simply allowing people to cut line and everyone hates it. I've been to this buffet before and this was not how it was run at all. If I had known, I wouldn't have made the drive here. Save yourself two hours and go to Red Lobster if you want crab. This is not worth the hassle. read more
