This place is AMAZING. My husband and I bought a vacation house in Dunnellon last year and we've slowly been working our way through the local restaurants when in town. This one has been on my list for a few months now and it truly lives up to the hype. First thing you notice when walking in is the beautiful, extravagant Mexican artwork covering the walls. Theres literally something cool and new everywhere you look. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and brought chips and salsa within the minute. My husband ordered sprite, I ordered a large white sangria, and a small piña colada type drink for my 2 year old who I knew would want a fancy drink once he saw mine. The sangria was a bit sweet for my taste , but it was still very tasty. My kiddo's drink was even better and it had real chunks of coconut in it We were starving, and my husband immediately put in an order for the guacamole and ceviche apps. The guac was delicious, a sizable portion, and they make it right in front of you.. Reminded me of the restaurants we went to in Cabo. The ceviche was also incredibly fresh, tasty and HUGEEE. My husband and I had already ordered our dinners at this point, and we looked at each other like, "oh crap, maybe we shouldn't have done that." I chose the steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas and my husband had one of the combos that had a little bit of everything.. I can't remember the exact name. He said his food was great I loved the few bites of mine I still had room for lol. We also got to enjoy two meals worth of leftovers the next day so it was a win-win in the end. I visited this dining establishment yesterday and was VERY impressed with ALL. I was greeted by a friendly staff and since I was looking for my friend and small child whom had come in before me, the manager pointed out to me where they were seated. It was crazy busy (since it was Sunday) but the service by our server Jose was "spot on" and interjected with some humor (which I loved). On top of that, since I AM a foodie, I'd say that they made the BEST salsa around: generous chunks of tomato, onions, spices: a real delight to eat with the fresh made tortillas chips. I had the lunch portion tilapia which was outstanding: a slight crisp on the outside and tender throughout...plus 2 generous filets. The side of Mexican rice was also amazing with a red tomato color and wonderful flavor...as were the refried beans served with it. My friend ordered the arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and it was also a very generous portion which she found absolutely delicious. The Kids Menu was also wonderful and the small child with us enjoyed chicken tenders with french fries. Also, the manager made sure to check in on our table (and all the tables) to make sure that everyone was happy. This is something that I've only seen at fine dining establishments such as Ruth Chris Steakhouse, etc. That too was much appreciated. Next time, I'll try to make room for dessert. OMGeeee .... From the minute, we walked in right before their dinner rush we were seated and Service was beyond amazing. I think we had four servers in total that rotated. The food was amazing. bruh.. any bad review on this place is BS. I'm from miami and i can confidently say this was the best mexican food ive had in north florida. and i'm a BIG food critic. if you had a bad experience here, im sorry but it was either a one off moment or you just don't know how to order and you're unlucky or something. lol from the moment you walk in, all your senses go off immediately. the hand carved & painted textured walls, light fixtures and seating is impeccable. the place is a truely authentic, kitschy & adorable hole in the wall. authentically mexican down to the ranchera music all the way to their staff. before i get into the food, i have to emphasize that i NEVER give reviews. but i literally had to drop one on em because this place blew me away. the service was like no other restaurant ive been to. they immediately placed freshly warm crunchy tortilla chips & salsa on the table as soon as we sat and without even finishing the first basket they continued to replenish the chips throughout the entire duration of our experience. (unheard of) everyone who worked there was extremely nice and welcoming and warm and sweet. they even brought me a CHILLED glass with ice when i ordered a mexican coca-cola (also unheard of) i felt like a queen while i was in there. before i could flag them down for more napkins, they already were on the way with some. i cannot make this up. we never went thirsty, they were on it with the water refills as well. everyone was just incredibly on top of it and reassuring and humble. okay onto the food: i ordered the chipotle chicken platter and my favorite mexican restaurant in miami ive been going to since i was 5 years old has something similar. i was skeptical that it would be a lesser version of what im used to. i was guiltily proven so wrong. it completely exceeded my expectations and was in fact 10x better than the dish im familiar with down south. the elote was delicious and they cut it into 4 pieces so its super easy to eat and share! the chips as mentioned earlier, fresh out of the oven and the salsa was also so fresh and light. the rice & beans were very authentic, i've never been to mexico but i just know that that was that real stuff. everyone at my table loved their every bite. the quesadillas were amazing, mm bf got a torta that was also delicious. and dont forget to order the table side freshly made to order guacamole!! (however, i do wish they mashed it in a molcajete; totally thought they would, that would've been the cherry on top, but it's ok lol) it was still incredibly yummy. anyway, in summary: this restaurant is a beautifully authentic home style hole in the wall in middle of nowhere Dunnellon, FL. the food is delicious, the service is grand, the interior design is otherworldly, and the overall atmosphere is just simply very pleasant and delightful. i will not stop thinking about this place until im able to go back. thanks for reading read more

New to the area and really wanted some Mexican food. Looked at reviews and Riviera Maya had very good reviews. We were promptly greeted and seated in this beautiful restaurant. Chips and drinks came quickly. The crisp warm chips with the homemade salsa is outstanding. The walls and tables are beautifully painted and with colorful wooden carvings. There is plenty of family style seating and booths. There is a full bar and the staff are friendly, Wendy checked on us and made sure we were pleased. I had the taquitos, they were crisp and the beef was delicious. The salad was fresh and the guacamole was so flavorful. My husband had the super burrito and again it came hot and delicious. The chicken had a very nice light spicy flavor. There is a sports TV if interested. This was a very good experience. We came here twice during our visits to Dunellon because the food was amazing and the service was superb! I am Mexican and the food was very authentic. The first night I had the pozole verde and it was amazing! The second night I had the birria soup and was also very amazing! Our server was very welcoming made great recommendations and the entire staff was very friendly and attentive.
