I am a born and bred Astorian, still residing in Astoria, and I absolutely cherish and adore my Rizzo's Pizzeria. I have beautiful memories of mom picking me up from elementary school and bringing me a slice (corner, of course!) of my fave Sicilian slice. Nothing compares to Rizzo's for me and I'm so grateful that my daughter who is now 20 has also had the privilege to eat their delicious pizza while growing up! She used to love their shaved Italian ices in the orange flavor :) during the summer months (not sure they still offer that as I live down by ditmars). There's nothing wrong with Rizzo's pizza, but it's really just okay. There are so many other stand out pizza options in the area that have far surpassed this place, and it feels like Rizzo's has just been left behind. Before coming here recently for their dollar slice promotion in partnership with GrubHub recently, I hadn't been to Rizzo's since I first moved to Astoria in 2011. The shop itself is an absolute time capsule. Nothing has changed save for the updated menu board. The ambiance here is outdated pizza place which would be totally A-OK with me if the pizza was really outstanding. I think for me the real hang up is the crust. It just has no taste to it at all, and it's pretty dry. Sauce and cheese ratio is perfectly fine. I would come back to try some of their more interesting looking topping combos. When I was in Astoria, NY visiting, we got delivery and this pizza was recommended and I know why! This was my second time having NY pizza in NY and it didn't let me down! The crust of both our pizzas was crisp, flakey, chewy and amazing! We stuck to the basic pizzas vs specialty this time, but I would try a bunch of the others in the future! We got a classic pepperoni and a cheese with chicken and basil pesto. Oh yes and garlic knots! I wish I was back in NY to have more! I will be back and definitely recommend!!! read more

Came here on a whim. Ordered their cauliflower personal pizza. The pizza was okay but nothing spectacular. The service was quick. At the time we were there, plenty of tables were available. No bathroom. I wouldn't come back unless I am in the area and dying of hunger. Probably better pizza elsewhere. read more

I've been going to this pizza place anytime I'm on steinway. Its small so on a packed day you will not get a seat. I used to love that they had RC cola, the most delicious soda ever. I was excited to see that they deliver now. Their pizza I admit taste better fresh out of the oven. I recommend dinning there rather than order. I gave them 5 stars because I know that the pizza is better in person. But don't get me wrong it was still warm and taste fresh. The people who work here have always been very nice to me. This really is one in one of my top 10 pizza places in Queens. I've been going to them for a little over 30 years now. You definitely have to get the square pizza its by far the best one you can eat. Yato was pleasured to find that the pizza wasn't bad. Yato found out the place was under new ownership. Yato was worried, as the past few times Yato ate here, it was DISGUSTING. Yato thinks maybe they gave him soggy pizza from the dumpster of Gyro Uno. Crust seemed too thick to be their own leftovers. But this time? Solid. Nice amount of cheese and the pepperonis. Yato was surprised. He ordered expecting at best mid, and this was a solid night. Yato could almost shed a tear. Pie was still too small for the $20 price tag, but Yato took the bullet. If it was editable, Yato isn't going to complain too much. Yato will order again soon and see if it was a fluke. Be prepared for an update. read more

Rizzo's has been one of my fave pizzas in Astoria for years and they evolve w/ the times offering gluten free and vegan options They have a gluten free cauliflower crust that's crispy and can hold lots of toppings. And vegan cheese if you want it. The gluten free crust feels like it's homemade and has herbs in it. My only beef is it's price $25 for a speciality gf pizza which has toppings and about $20 for a gf cheese pizza and it's only about 10 inches The staff is always nice. I stopped by Rizzos today and they were offering the square slice for 62 cents. Yes, 62 cents including tax! I ordered 2 of them and the total was 1.24. This was a pleasant surprise since I usually pay at least 2.50 for a regular slice. But note that's this was a special for today, it's not something they offer on a regular basis. It was ok. I have been coming to Rizzo's for the last year or so and have been consistently happy with the quality of the food, the speed of delivery, and the efficient service. As far as delivery, i have always called and ordered from them directly and have had my pizza within the hour. If you go in and order a pie the wait is about 20 minutes. I always get the bbq chicken pizza no bacon and its so goooood. The chicken is sliced super thin and there's a good amount of sauce. If you want something to reheat maybe ask for extra sauce because it will dry out. The garlic rolls are UNREAL. Sometimes they're sold out so im always happy when they have them. The plain slice, square slice, and pepperoni slice are solid; but again the bbq chicken is so good, i always order a large of it! read more

I was fortunate enough to try a few different slices and each one is unique in taste but all of them had one thing in common and that is their dough are super thin (and I mean THIN!!). This also include the crust as well. I also tried their pin wheel bitesize pizza (pepperoni and their spinach) and that was really good. I can see myself eating them for breakfast to be honest, esp with a cup of coffee on the side. Overall I like this place. I had a TGTG bag from here, and boy did they stack me up. They gave a range of white and red pizzas, and even 4 pinwheels. My favorites were the white/ricotta slice and the pepperoni cheese pinwheels (the slight spiciness was a nice touch). Good tasting pizza located on Steinway Street /30th Avenue. Not the best pizza or as great as the print media would make you think. Good nonetheless cause I could actually taste the ingredients. The lunch special I ordered was 2 pizza slices and a can of Coke for $8 . For some stupid reason I chose the buffalo chicken slice and my brother had a cheese slice. I regretted it and ordered a cheese slice expecting to pay full price with no problem. The counter person said you only have to pay a $1 more cause there is a 3 pizza slice deal for $9 and I already paid $8. The young lady appearing to be in her teens (JC) provided great service from the start. The pizza slices here are extremely small and thin. If you want pizza as a meal here I say no. Got a regular cheese slice and a slice with bbq chicken and onions. They currently have a special for the summer of 2019 - 60 cents square cheese slices. They're a bit tiny so I decided to go with the regular slice. They have a lunch special every day from 11-3 for different slice combos with pizza. They are a cash only establishment that is undergoing renovations. They also offer Italian ices. Onto the actual review, the crust was so thin on the regular cheese slice that as I was eating it it kinda just broke into two pieces. Instead of being able to fold my pizza and eat it, I had to pick it up from the tray. The chicken bbq pizza fared a better in terms of the crust but the bbq sauce was not spread out evenly. Last night I ordered the Calabria Stromboli. If you love garlic like me - this is a must. It is filled with eggplant, roasted red peppers, cheese and garlic. It was so good, I hated that I only ordered one! I also ordered the Bandiera square pie, named that because it is made with the colors of the Italian flag : plentiful amount of delicious spinach, mozzarella and ricotta, and a rich tomato sauce. It was so good, and luckily only two of us were eating it so I have some leftover slices to enjoy today and tomorrow for lunch!!! So good! I have been a patron of Rizzo's for over 30 years from just the cheese slices which I still love, to all their gourmet pies. Overall, this was a good, thin crust pizza and I'm always appreciative of restaurants that offer vegan options. Rizzo's offers all of their pies with vegan cheese and that's awesome! Because the crust is so thin and they go fairly light on the cheese (both vegan and dairy), it was not very filling. It was all very tasty though, so I'd go back if I wanted to eat a somewhat lighter meal. Service was very friendly and the music was quite loud, so be prepared if dining in. Update: went back for the square pizza and really liked it! My friend and I did the deal for two square specialty pizzas for $26. I got the vegan primavera and she got something with meat. Ordered a pepperoni, ricotta and mushroom cauliflower pizza which is something that isn't common in Pizzerias but when I received it, $27.50 later (not including tip and tax), it was more of a personal sized pie than I expected it to be, so it didn't fill my partner and I up. This is my childhood pizzeria and I still love coming here! This summer, they had such a great special, in which you could get 60 cent slices if you dined in house! I tried to go there as much as I could - because seriously - how can you beat that price?! If you come here, you're really lucky if you get a fresh pie straight from the oven. Rizzo's is a dream come true for a vegan gal like me, whose fondest childhood memories include going to the local old school pizzeria in Ozone Park with her grandparents. They now have vegan pizza! I don't think you can get it by the slice just yet (go on, create that demand, vegans), but I'm one of those people that never gets slices if I can help it. Yeah, yeah, I'm not a real New Yorker. Get over it. Nothing like a freshly made pie and if you don't agree, I can handle not having that in common with you. I didn't ask what kind of vegan cheese it is. It might be Daiya, since it has that stretch. I like Daiya, though it's one of those polarizing brands for vegans (and many people can't, uh, stomach it). Ask if it's a big issue. They are so nice in here! I also got mushrooms, black & green olives. It came smothered in toppings. Love love love! Truthfully, I about inhaled the thing, so the cheese is a bit of a distant memory. Oh wait, the memory I have is of burning the roof of my mouth on it. And yes, it was worth it. And yes, I kept going. Testament to the perfect pie. Rizzo's has been slinging pies for 60 years in a vibrant, ever-changing neighborhood of Astoria. Ordered an 18 inch eight slice pizza with my wife. The orders are made at the counter then picked up at the counter. The restaurant was clean and no tables had any remnants of food on them. An 18 inch pizza is not excessive as the crust is the thinnest crust I have found in the city. As thin as the crust on a cracker. Nearly too thin to fold a slice without breaking the slice. The tomato sauce tasted good but there was too much of it. There was not enough cheese. Should have been much more cheese. There was a bad blend of too much sauce, not enough cheese and a cracker thin crust. It did not have the great taste of a New York pizza that I love. I will give it two stars for that. The taste disappointed me. I liked the music that was played. A good thing, because it was too loud. If I did not like the music, it would have been annoying. There is no place to wash my hands and no bathroom. No parking, but this is NYC, so I can give them a pass on that. The air conditioning worked well on an August afternoon. It was cool in the restaurant. I think that what keeps this place in business is that their prices are low and they have good specials. Today I ordered as usual on your website and received the delivery. The pizza was completely upside down and cheese was all off and cold. I called your store and Alex abruptly said there was nothing that could be done because I ordered on DoorDash. I've never ordered on DoorDash for your pizza. Infact I have been able to redeem points many times on your site why would I randomly order on DoorDash?
