I love Louie's. I went for the Grandma pizza, which is the best in New York City, and stay for the people. Food is what keeps us alive, the other thing is people. This place is like eating in your mom's kitchen, and that's always a good thing, and if your mom wasn't a good cook, this is your chance to create a new memory. Now back to the food. Location across from Elmhurst hospital can be chaotic and parking is tight, but the pizza here is impossibly thin and crispy. Haven't had any pizza like this since Pizza Palace on Bayard Street by Columbus Park closed. Easy to eat half a pie by oneself. Crispy, thin crust, perfect amount of sauce and oil (about 2 drips per plain slice, not drowning, but reminds you that this is true NYC pizza), lightly cheesed, but still has a good stringy mozzarella pull. For a similar, but slightly thicker (100% yum factor) NYC slice, it's Manos in Ridgewood. For, the thinnest and crispiest plain slice in NYC, Louie's is the standard bearer. Parked in front, ordered a whole pie, ran inside, threw down some cash, waited outside for the fresh pie to bake. 10 minutes later the owner (possibly Louie hisself) delivers the fresh pie to my car outside and actually thanks me. True Twilight Zone stuff. I scarf a fresh, hot slice straight from the carton before stowing the balance back to Long Island for additional reheat confirmation. With all the political nonsense ongoing, thank Goodness that a righteous, NYC plain slice is still alive, well and residing in un-hipster, un-gentrified, un-apologetically friendly-neighborhood Spiderman Elmhurst. "Best NYC style pizza" is a term that is minimized and bandied about every time some new $60, limited-run, kraft pizza from Japan is the current darling. We submit that this is not the case here. I came here last week with my friend and a group of foodies to help support this wonderful pizza place in Jackson Heights, Queens. The staff here are amazing and literally help keep criminals off the street and are devoted to their community. Ironically, I didn't get to try the pizza. Just means, I have to come back some day. But I hear the Sicilian is amazing. This place makes way more than just pizza and has house made fresh pasta and more unique dishes that you would never expect in a pizza parlor like ribeye steak. We ended up splitting and sharing entrees: Agnolotti (Kind of ravioli shaped and stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a pesto sauce), Fettuccine Bolognese, Penne in a tomato sauce (not sure if it was vodka or arrabiata), chicken with crabmeat, and the ribeye steak. My favorite easily and very oddly was the chicken slathered in a mustard sauce with crabmeat. This was the most juicy and tantalizingly delicious chicken I've had in a minute. I would also never have ordered this in a million years. So I'm glad someone else thought to include this. The pastas were very good even though I only tried a tiny bit but I'd definitely order the agnolotti. The steak was cooked surprisingly to perfection. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. Went there after a very hot Met's game. I mean the temperature not the team. Was recommended here from where we were close to the stadium. The guy behind me the register was very friendly. Made you feel welcomed. Was in total control of all the orders even the take out. Seemed to know a couple of people as they were probably regulars. Wish we had more time for a pasta dish, they looked great. We had two slices and garlic knots. The slices were good and the knots were awesome. Busy, active and definitely for the community given the notes, decorations. I always wanted to stop by here for a slice after watching the owner and father's heroic effort protecting an Asian lady who was being robbed in front of their store. Slice was solid at $3. No flop and the crunchy crisp when you take your first bite will make u a fan. The grandma pizza is also my favorite. The staff are great people and that is why I keep coming back. Louie's was our 2nd stop of the day, and when the day was over, it turned out to be my favorite slice of the day! We went with one of their grandma slices. This slice was so damned good! If pizza is the mana of life, then Louie's is one of the cathedrals to great pizza. Just landing at LaGuardia and having a hankering for some REAL New York pizza, I found Louie's of Elmhurst. The only thing disappointing was parking is the worst, especially on a Saturday night. I ordered a Grandma's pie, a plain cheese pie, and a chicken roll. The sauce at Louie's stands out as one of the best I have ever had on pizza. And each pie's sauce was different enough to differentiate between them. Both very zesty with strong flavors of garlic & oregano. The sauce of legends. The sauce that cradles the cheese perfectly on hand tossed crusts that are baked to perfection and actually reheat the next day tasting, believe it or not, better than fresh out of the box. The Grandma's was a substantial slab of pizza making art; a perfect example of what happens when the sauce brings together all the ingredients into an orgasm of flavor in your mouth. The plain slice was as delicious in a much simpler form. Again, the sauce and the ratio of sauce: cheese: crust was perfect. Magic happened between the cheese and crust leading to a flavor that is pizza nirvana. Oh yeah, the chicken roll was great. Lots of chicken, just the right amount of cheese, not overly breaded with a side of sauce. Really good and substantial. But, the pizza reigns supreme at Louie's. read more

Louie's is located in a neighborhood that is absolutely bursting with energy and life, so it makes perfect sense that a restaurant so entwined in the neighborhood is so vibrant. The owner greets people from behind the counter and is as interested in asking local kids about how school is as asking new visitors to his place where they're from. That's an old school vibe and I'm here for it. Of course I'm also all about the food, and I'm happy to say that it was exceptional. I brought along my go-to judge of chicken rolls and she was quite impressed. The flavor of the chicken was amazing, the cheese to sauce ratio (enough but not too much sauce, lots of cheese) was perfect, and the size of the sandwich was massive. That last point makes me happy because recently a lot of places are cutting corners and Louie's is definately not. A $10 sandwich should be substantial and delicious, and here it unquestionably is. We also found room to try their legendary Grandma Slice, which was everything that we hoped it would be. Airy, sauced properly, cheesy and crisp, it was a masterclass in (arguably) that third category of NY pizza. Louie's is a short walk from the 74th / Broadway subway hub, even shorter from the 82nd St. 7 train stop, which makes it easy to get to from all of the boroughs that matter, and about 20 minutes from Manhattan. Checked out Louie's after a nice Mets win. Located in the Queens/Jackson Heights neighborhood place is a must try for lovers of homemade Italian cuisine. Perfect spot to grab a NY slice or try any of their homemade pastas. Service was 10/10, folks were passionate about their food I knew I was in for a treat. Place was rockin on a late Sat night, couple tables and booths inside not large. I went with a pepperoni slice as an appetizer, good crisp on the pizza and for sure hit the spot. For entrees my wife opted for the Chicken Parm and I went with the Fettuccine Bolognese which is their meat sauce made with ground beef and veal. This local pizzeria is a must to patronize each time I come home to Elmhurst. The family who runs this business is so endearing and qualified. The pizzeria is clean and well-kept. It's normal for customers to tell the young man (I forget his name) their order and leave, as I did, to run nearby errands. Upon seeing you return, the young man will loudly declare your order is ready, piping hot to pick up and go. This time, mine was a large cheese pie. Thank you for going out of your way! I had a birthday party with food and cake scheduled for 11:45 and needed pizza by 11 AM. Louie's was the only one to agree to have pizzas ready for me at 11 AM - the moment they opened. I arrived about 15 minutes early, chatted with the owner for a while, and at 11:01 my pizzas were cut and ready. I stopped in here today to grab a late lunch on my way home. I ordered a slice of regular cheese and a slice of their Grandmas pie. The Grandmas slice was so delicious with overtones of oregano, basil and garlic which I love! The regular slice was good as well with a nice crispy crust. My co-workers put me up on Louies pizza when they bought a few slices and gave me one. So I was hooked soon after. I didn't even realize Louies was there as many times I walked in the area. The whole pie with extra cheese was a meal itself, and I ate two. I like my pizza crust, not hard, but somewhat soft and louies Pizza is right on point and close to my job. Louie's has been on my list of places to try in NYC since I heard about the heroics of Louie and his father, and the both of them being upstanding citizens of the community for which they serve. Even the signage outside of their establishment is apropos, which states: "here to serve the community in any way we can." How cool! I had just flown in from California, and this time I knew I had to stop in and be a patron at Louie's. Upon entering, I saw Louie greeting regulars and community members alike with charisma and exceptional hospitality. Came here because was craving pizza and remembered seeing them promoted on insta. Ordered 2 regular slices and a grandma slice (asked to cut all in half). Both slices were great! Texture flavor were on point. Service was great. It was very busy but as soon as I walked in I was asked what I'd like to order. Who seemed to be the owner was very friendly and upbeat. The place was full (no seats) there was a line to order and the phone was ringing off the hook. This is clearly a favorite spot. The 3 slices came out to $10 cash. They take both cash and card which is good to know and very convenient. This is a reg pizza shop nothing fancy. It the type of place you stop by on your way home. Louie's is a gem in the Elmhurst/Jackson Hts community. My family and I usually order delivery or takeout, and we haven't been let down with anything that we've ordered. Most recently got their Chicken Masala (pasta substitute) and a few grandma slices delivered for late lunch, and everything arrived neatly packaged and still piping hot. Kind people to boot! The guy working the front counter was very a welcoming nice guy. There's about 6 tables inside which is always great to just sit down, relax and enjoy a slice of pizza in New York. I've had Sicilian pizza before, and I'm familiar with squares cut pizza. I was already full from eating at a lot of other places earlier in the day, but when I saw this man get my "square" slice, my eyes popped out. These aren't no damn squares. It's a damn rectangle. I wasn't prepared to eat all that, but I handled it like a champ. The slice itself has a very delicious tasting sauce and thick and delicious crust. In June, China Mac and his They Can't Burn Us All movement hosted a pizza party to honor our heroes Louie & Cazim Suljovic. Thank you for bringing the community together. This is the absolute best slice you can find in Queens. When I get this pizza, it's like every memory of a good New York slice is amalgamated into one that I could almost cry tears of joy. This pizza has a good bite. It is the perfect balance of doughy and crispy. The sauce is good -- tomatoey and not too sweet like other places. And there's just enough cheese that it's not falling over, but you can still get that nice pull. The staff is nice and attentive. The interior of the pizzeria is very simple and comforting, like you can just plop down a table and eat your slice in peace. I think it's the quintessential New York pizza place. Not the worse but it's not the best. It's edible but I ordered so many plates and slices and everything tasted canned, low quality. My husband got bad heartburn and reflux... I saw some tourist come out of here and they didn't look impressed either. I really hoped to taste some amazing Italian food especially since some Italian dude is greeting you at the entrance. I been hearing about this place from a friend, who lives in the area. They have the best Grandma's slice she ever had. This is also the father and son duo that are the local heroes, who were injured in the process of helping someone else. This was on that day when the family was giving away free slices, which I missed. I finally got to try the grandma slices my friend has been raving about. In addition, they are Mets fans. No brainer in definitely supporting them. Oh wow! There were 2 grandma slices in the bag to start. Well, on the way to my next destination, I got hungry (it happens frequently) and I ate a slice.
