Tonight's experience was certainly an improvement from my last few rounds at Rizzo's. Our waitress, Kylie, was very attentive and lovely throughout the visit. If you want to take your complimentary rustic bread to the next level, ask for a bottle of the Delailo's olive oil. I really enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin ravioli (hints of nutmeg!) and eggplant Parmesan topped with provolone and served with made in house pasta. Our travel hockey team hosted a team dinner and everything was terrific. Rizzi and his team treated us very well. Jenn and Jess provided excellent service. Food was terrific and banquet hall space was perfect for players and families. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a large group setting with friendly service and good food. read more

Still a Destination after all these years. When I lived in NE Ohio back in the 1980's, numerous people suggested visiting Rizzo's when we went over to Pittsburgh. Finding it was interesting because Crabtree is basically little more that a crossroads for a town that has long since died. Oddly enough Crabtree is also home to another excellent Italian Restaurant. Two great restaurants in the middle of nowhere. In anycase, you pull into the parking lot and it's a rather spacious parking lot and generally the lot is packed. Looking at the tags, you see of course, Pa, but you will also see Ohio, NY, WV and Maryland at any given time. Rizzo's has become a destination for those who love good Italian and for those type folks, it reminds me of the line from from Field of Dreams. Build it and they will come. In anycase, patrons have been coming for over 30 years to both places. Our youngest Grandson was Baptized earlier that day by his other Grandfather who is a retired Minister. To commemorate the event, we made reservations for a party of 10 at Rizzo's. There were 8 adults, a toddler and the guest of honor who slept through it all. Consider this. It's also Christmas time and the restaurant is slammed with Holiday parties but they went out of their way to accomodate us. Place was packed but we walked in at the apponted time and were promptly seated complete with accomodations for the two young ones. When I lived in Western PA back in the 1990's, Rizzo's was a favorite and I'm glad to report that it has not changed. Between the 8 adults, we had a wide variety of entrees included Veal and Eggplant Parmesan. Shrimp Scampi, Spaghetti, Italian Combo and I had the baked Lasagna. Can't speak for everyone but my Lasagna was great, my wife loved her Veal Parm and heard no complaint from anyone else. As I pointed out, this is more than a restaurant. This is a destinaton and well worth the trip. Not only is the cusine great, service and attention to detail leaves nothing to chance. Had dinner from there on Father's Day. You could tell they had a busy day. Things weren't up to snuff. Salad was limp and didn't have fresh greens. Dinner was cold! Pizza was good but she'll was a little too thick. If you know your going to be busy hire more help. read more

Outstanding for any group outing or party. We had my mother's 90th surprise birthday party for about 20 people, and it went off perfectly. Meals and drinks were served promptly, which was a surprise since everyone ordered off the menu. We had a semi private room, which helped. Our waitress and bartender were very gracious and smiling. Rizzo's Mother's Day Buffet was very disappointing. Did not accept credit cards for individual couples. We had 18 people celebrating Mother's Day and everyone was scrambling for cash. The food was mediocre with the majority being pasta. Deserts were very basic and not of exceptional quality. A bit overpriced for what was served. read more

Rizzo's is always a great place to go. The manicotti and chicken Romano is unlike any other restaurant. The roasted pepper with Asiago cheese appetizer is amazing!! The veal and chicken parmigiana are equally delicious. Truth be told, we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here nearly 30 years ago and we have never had room left over for any dessert. It was the first time I was there. We went to celebrate my 70th birthday with friends and family. We had 12 people in our party. Our server was Celeste and she was the best, very attentive. Huge portions of authentic home-style Italian food. Not quite fine dining, but don't let that get in the way of having a great meal. The polenta was a little bland and the sauce drowned out most of the polenta flavor. Good thing the sauce was delicious! Caprese salad had a good balance of ingredients, but the tomatoes were out of season (I know, I know - unavoidable some times of the year). Family recipe italian food and boy was it tasty. I had the beef braciole with a side of alfredo. The beef roll was so tender i didn't need a knife to cut it and the stuffing was seasoned perfectly. The portions are huge which I love because you get two meals out of one. This was our first time going and they gave each of our party of three a FREE jar of their sauce. My son devoured his spaghetti and now this is the only spaghetti sauce we buy. read more

They charged a lot of $ for their cocktails which did not seem justified. Besides these it was a good first time experience. Makes for great leftovers as well. I don't think I'll return though. This was our first time and Rizzo's and we loved it! Their sauce is very, very good. My husband and I both had the mixed green salad with their house vinaigrette and we recommend it. Been here many times, most recently came with a party of nine. Had the bracchiole and just WOW what an excellent meal! Big servings with a good amount of sauce. The meat was tender and succulent, and the stuffing was perfect melt in your mouth consistency. The place is so busy we didn't mind the wait at all, and had a great time. I have been to Rizzo's countless times and it never disappoints. Of course the pasta is great, my favorite is the cavatelli with pink sauce on it. I could eat that every day. Another item on their menu that is wonderful is their salad. They house dressing is perfect. Like most people I on occasion try and watch what I eat so pasta isn't always the best option. A few trips ago I ordered a large house salad and added grilled chicken and let me just say wow! It is now one of my favorite grilled chicken salads to get somewhere. One again everything is amazing but you can stay healthy there and still get a wonder meal! read more

It's not too often that Yelp fails. Yet it did for this place. The facade appears to be Italian, Dean Martin playing in the background, decent decor. First hint of poor training is with the hostess. Attitude from the very moment we arrive. Asked if we have reservations. No, never heard of this place up until 20 minutes ago traveling West on 22. Apparently, walk-ins are treated like crap with her sigh. She first tried to seat us in the bar area, absolutely no way that was going to happen. You couldn't hear yourself think due to the noise level, obnoxious. We asked to be seated outside, she didn't say a word, she didn't need to, her expression, and body language spoke for her. Chalk it up as an immature, poorly trained millennial. Now for the food. The food was probably the worst food we have ever had trying to to be Italian. Not a single dish that we ordered was freshly made. Everything was frozen, and reheated. Anyone with a brain, and palate knows the difference. Lasagna was an insult. The ravioli was terrible. The buttered noodles looks like they sat for hours in oil. The pizza was bland and flavorless. The almond torte was still frozen when it was served. To top it off, the cappuccino machine was broken. Seriously. It wasn't, it was late in the evening, and they didn't want to clean it. Towards the end of dinner, the staff felt the need to drag chairs all over the outdoor area. The little town of Crabtree is known for two things: Rizzo's and fireworks. During the third weekend of July, the population of Crabtree increases immensely for the fireworks that tops off Our Lady of Mt. Carmel festival. The rest of the year, people drive here to eat at Rizzo's Malabar Inn. This restaurant is very popular in the surrounding area. Italian specialties such as their pasta, pizza, salads, desserts, fried calamari and other dishes don't disappoint. I stopped in here with my husband on a Friday night for their Happy Hour that had some drinks specials along with 1/2 off on certain appetizers. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. Even though the sangria wasn't one of the drink specials, that's what we ordered along with the fried zucchini and onion rings. Good decision on our part because the sangria was very tasty. As for the appetizers, the portions were very generous. If I had known how generous, i would have only ordered the fried zucchini. The bartenders were very friendly and made small talk with us, even though they were busy. They looked after everyone sitting at the bar as well as taking the drink orders from the servers. I like sitting in the bar area. It doesn't feel crowded. This summer, the management is running Wine Jam Wednesdays with live music on the patio. They recommend reservations if you want to come for that. Reservations are best for coming here to have a full meal. Last, but not least, we got a slice of almond cake for dessert. It was big enough to share and will definitely become my favorite dessert. read more

Four adults, a toddler and an infant go into Rizzo's Restaurant, an hour or so and $150 later I can tell you this. I thought my shrimp was going to be breaded, it was not, but that wouldn't have helped the rubbery texture anyway. Wife's cod was swimming in butter. The others had pasta, lots of pasta, not good pasta just lots of pasta. I'm not Italian so I can't vouch for "authenticity" but have had better meals at better pricing. read more

Rizzo's is a wonderful place in Crabtree. I am not a fan of Americanized Italian Food, but Rizzo's has much more. They have sautéed peppers and oil which come hot or sweet and are very good. They have gluten free options that are pretty good also. They have a sautéed greens with beans that is excellent. Their noodles are also very good. Sauce is also well-made. One of my favorite parts of Rizzo's is the heavy pour of wine. 10oz or more. Wedding soup is also very good. It's worth going for the above. If you like things like chicken parmigiana it would likely be better to eat somewhere around your own home and question why you like such things. read more

Had dinner here with my wife on a Saturday. Make sure to get reservations because it gets pretty crowded on the weekend nights. The food was great. You could tell everything was authentic. I had the crab ravioli and my wife had the gnocchi. Both were delicious. The bread and wedding soup were also really good. Our waitress Alexis was wonderful as well. My only knock on the food would be that the presentation is really lacking. However that doesn't matter much once you taste it. The atmosphere is a little weird inside. It is very old school and is really quiet. No booths either. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely return. read more

They get a 3 bc of the food. But as a waiter I give them a one for stealing my tips. They take 30% of my tips for the bust boys which I'm fine with if they got it. They take the 30% of everyone's tips. So one night 10 servers make $2,000. Meaning $600 should have gone to the 3 bust boys $200 each, nope they get &7.50 hour and only 4 hours of work. Rest left over goes to the restaurant. 100% illegal. read more

My family and I have been coming here for about a decade. I grew up in Windber, PA which has a Rizzo's of its own (my favorite Italian to this day), but since moving to Pittsburgh this has served as the perfect in-between stop for my extended family. They've grown a lot over the years but the quality has stayed the same. Inexpensive meals, affordable wine, and delicious gelato for dessert every time we come. We almost always start with the mix of hot/sweet peppers with oil and cheese. For my entree I tend to get chicken parm with a side of gnocchi. Very good house salads - love the crinkle cut beets. Most recent visit had sliced beets so I hope that's not the norm moving forward. Only one thing you need for dessert: Nutella gelato. Or more recently we had the special, pumpkin gelato which was delicious. Friendly hostess and waitstaff every time we come. read more

I grew up in Crabtree. Though I left for bigger cities, and have experienced some of the best cuisines anywhere, when it came to choosing a place for my daughter's wedding there was only one place to go: Rizzo's. But why? It's not about the food, though it was amazing. It was the experience itself, giving my daughter the best day of her life. They cared about the details. They cared about taking care of us. It was about making sure that everything went perfectly and without complication. Which it did. There are very few restaurants that truly understand how important it is to provide impeccable service. They did. In fact, my guests are still calling me about just how amazing the event, staff, food, and experience was. I am just overjoyed, and I want the world to know it. P.S. A little bit out of the way, but if you're in the area or willing to make the drive it is totally worth it. If you like salad get the antipasta salad, it is huge and amazing. Comes with tons of toppings as well as a meat and cheese plate. We always get the dressing on the side so we can take the leftovers home without them getting soggy. Large sized salad was plenty for 8 people and we took some home. Pasta is great. If you can't make up your mind they have a combo sampler platter. I've also had their pizza which is good too. Employees are all super friendly. Plenty of parking and pretty easy to find. There are a few different rooms that you might be seated in. There is the more elegant setting, either on the main floor or upstairs. Or there is the bar area which I prefer because it is very rustic and makes you feel like you are at a 5-star ski lodge or something like that. Came here thinking I was in for something spectacular but it ended up just being mediocre. I'm very picky with my Italian food particularly my sauce. The sauce just seemed bland, lacking something. The pasta was good, nothing special. Don't think I'll be back unless to meet up with people that want to go. It wasn't horrible, the food was good. Just not my style read more
