    two plates of sushi

This is the second time I've been here, but it has been awhile. Met a long time friend here and had such a wonderful time and experience! We were greeted right away and were seated at a booth. There were about two or three other tables that were occupied. Our server was great and attentive. She took our drink order right away - Sapporo and hot tea in a pretty black tea pot. The ambience was great, restaurant was very clean and neat. Our server took our food order shortly after bringing our drink order. Our salad and rolls were delivered very quickly and the presentation was beautiful! Restaurant was clean, service was great, and food was delicious. If you're looking for a place to eat in Alamo, make sure to check this spot out! What we ordered: Sapporo Hot tea Volcano roll Firecracker roll Side salad

    Volcano Roll

I've came here often and absolutely love it. I get the volcano roll and I highly recommend it!

Nothing but happy faces after dinner in front of RJ's

Food was delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance is perfect. The owner and sushi chef, Ricky, and his staff are my favorite part. We had the VIP treatment. Guess it didn't hurt that RJ's favorite customer was in our group. I highly recommend RJ's.

I love this place. It's fresh and good. The tempura tacos were my go-to. The rolls are splendid and very filling. I enjoy the shrimp crunchy roll hold the soy sauce drizzle. Ask for it with a side of their wasabi mayo! It's mmmm mmm good. Tonight I the walnut honey roll. Mouth watering!

RJ's is located in a strip mall in Alamo, right on Danville Blvd. It is dark and intimate, with a sushi bar in the front, with two large flatscreens behind the chef. The food is Japanese-inspired for the most part, though they have some Korean and Singaporean items too. Overall - I give three star overall. Decent sushi and appetizers, awesome desserts, and just one flawed dish (it was returned and taken off our bill!). Service was wonderful! Appetizers: The Japanese Rock is a grill-it-yourself experience, with several thin slices of marinated rib-eye. The rock cooks the meat in seconds, and I found the meat juicy and well-seasoned. No need for their ponzu and teriyaki sauces which would be overboard. Their Crab Stack is a nice little tower of avocado, mango, and lump crab meat that you spoon onto a large crouton. Pretty light and refreshing. Garlic Edamame was excellent - garlic flavor permeated each bean all the way through. 4 stars. Sushi: I got the combo 6-piece nigiri with the Baja Cali Roll (Hamachi wrapped on the perimeter of a Californian Roll, made with real crab meat of course). Fish toppings were very fresh, and I liked the loosely-packed rice. Baja Roll had some acidity from the ponzu sauce, but I didn't quite taste the jalapeño for that Japanese-Mexican fusion. Still pretty good. 4 stars. Seafood Soba Stir Fry: Yikes this dish came drenched in sauce and was otherwise too salty for us to enjoy. After a few bites we sent it back and they took it off our bill. 2 stars for food quality. The dish had good amount of scallops and shrimp but that sauce permeated through the noodles and overpowered everything. Desserts: 5-stars! Their bitter dark chocolate-raspberry soufflé is worth waiting for, especially when paired with their organic ginger ice cream. Among one of the best desserts I've had in a fusion restaurant - even surpassing Roy's Lava Cake. Their Coconut Tapioca pudding was also nice - wasn't overly sweet, had a slight bit of tanginess, and big enough to share. Would recommend coming back for the appetizers and desserts! The sushi rolls are interesting. We would avoid anything stir-fried for fear of excessive sauce.

Sushi and roll lunch. Red dragon roll with chefs choice for sushi. There was 5 pieces. But I dug in before the picture

I'm glad it did because she said there were a lot of people waiting outside at the PH location. By the time we made it to WC, our tables were ready. There were no long wait times for anyone who came after us, maybe 5 minutes. Crowds started thinning out around noon. This was the 1st time any of us dined at The Hangout and it did not disappoint. The staff was very inviting and friendly. The person who took care of us was very helpful with explaining menu items and making suggestions. We were a large party so they had to split our tables but we were right to each other. There is a spacious dining area as well as outdoor seating. Standout dishes: Chicken & waffle - BIG portion. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. It was so good, the entire plate was wiped clean. Crispy chicken with garlic noodles - delicious combination. The garlic noodles were made with real garlic, not just powder. They need to offer this as a side dish. Chicken pops - chopped up, sample size version of the chicken and waffles. Perfect for sharing. We will definitely come back to this location if we're in the area.

Wish it had a little sauce or something to bring it all together. Berry Lover Toast - Two large pieces of French Toast with a blueberry based inside, topped with a ton of stuff including sliced almonds, corn flakes, powdered sugar, sliced grapes and some thinly sliced oranges. There's a lot going on here. I did like the strawberry preserves as a topper - it seemed homemade and it wasn't too sweet. I didn't try any of my friend's Country Potatoes, but they looked legit. Good service and plenty of nearby parking. Properly named, as this is a good place to Hangout!

The space was neat, simple, and we loved watching a big screen, showing the process of making yummy Korean sweets. They were very kind, and served us some items on the house as it was my special day! Here, the bowl was filled with shredded beef and vegetables. My husband and my son ordered Bulgogi and Galbi, and both came sizzling on metal plates, ready to be eaten. Before ordering, we asked if the wings could be made boneless since my dad doesn't eat chicken with bones. They told us yes, so we went ahead with that, but when the dish came out, only about 5 pieces were actually boneless. I wish they had clarified that beforehand, because I would've chosen a different dish. Flavor-wise, everything leaned much sweeter than expected. The galbi-jjim in particular was quite sweet, and even the kimchi had a noticeable sweetness that was more than I was used to at other Korean restaurants. The wines by the glass are awesome, if you like Chard, like my wife, they have Frank, Rom and Far Niente, all for $18. That is a steal for all 3, especially Far Niente. Most place charge $20 to $25 in Danville and rarely see Far Niente by the glass. The prices look reasonable on all the wines by the glass, so go get some! They also have great cocktails ($16, great price), my 2 favorites so far are Watermelon Seduction (4 Stars) and Pomtini (4 Stars, get on the rocks). Their bartenders mix the perfect balance, never too sweet or tart, just right! Food notes: Tang's Fried Rice (3 Stars, $30 with chicken, beef, shrimp, so 2 Stars) The base price for fried rice was $19, ok pricy but if you ask for combination fried rice (chicken, beef and shrimp), the price is $30, $11 increase. They charge for each protein, ridiculous! The rice was not that great, they didn't use a long grain rice, some sort of short grain, but not fat, still thin, like the rice was broken in half. All the ingredients were fresh, but nothing special. And the egg, no large chucks, just tiny bits mix in. Szechuan Green Beans with chicken (4 Stars, $20 with chicken). The green beans were fresh, not overcooked, still slightly crunchy. The sauce had some heat and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Roasted peanuts were added, nice touch! Rolling Lettuce Cups with Chicken (4.5 Stars $17) The lettuce cups were perfectly cut from the head lettuce, no ruff edges, easily separated and large. One of the best execution of lettuce cups I've seen! The chicken filling was also awesome! It was not serviced with plum sauce, kinda missed it, but instead some thin sauce, good, not sure exactly what, but definitely not plum. Pork Belly Bao (5 Stars) Really good, get some! Mongolian Beef (3 Stars) The beef was thin sliced and good quality, but the sauce was to sweet, heavy on hoisin, plenty of sliced onion and green onion. No heat. Kung Pao Chicken (3 Stars) I liked the shiitake mushrooms, but the rest was just okay. Shu Mai (4.5 Stars) Really good filling to the top, good size dumping (almost have to cut in half to eat) serviced with chili sauce. I mixed some table soy and chili sauce together, perfect dipping sauce. Yo's Rock Shrimp with Sriracha Mayo (3.5 Stars) Good quality shrimp, nice and lightly batter, deep fried but not over cooked. Until next time...
