Hojicha tea (2.95), Hashiya Omakase Set (54.45)
    Victor G.

Hashiya Sushi & Ramen opened 4 months ago where Uji Time Desserts was. Similar infrastructure. Ambiance is an off white decor with named signage and some artifacts on wall. Difficult finding parking in early afternoon due to post office & Trader Joe's nearby. Got seated quickly, courteously. Piano music in background. Ordered. Informed food will be 20 minutes in prep. Offerings (Japanese): usual fare of bento boxes, ramen, nigiri, sushi + poke donburi. Sips: pot of roasted green tea-hojicha (2.95) -nice subtle floral-ish smooth, easy sipping tea, not the usual served. Bites: Hashiya Omakase Set (55.45) 12 nigiri with hamachi maki. House made soy sauce on side. -pickled wasabi & regular wasabi. -nigiri: Ikura, aji, unagi, amaebi, 2 kinds tuna, suzuki, miso sauced salmon, unagi, scallop + 2 other names I didn't get. -pieces were generous in size, lengthy & not too thin. Don't usually eat nigiri so dipped same into soy sauce rice end lst, causing nigiri to fall apart. *usually eat sashimi. Nigiri maybe once a year. -fish nigiri was smooth, delicate, quasi- velvety but not melt in mouth quality I've ate in top tier sushi places. *didn't taste any distinguishing characteristics of top tier sashimi. 4ish stars. service: very good. Quality: reasonable for pricing. Quantity: reasonable. Great place for better than average nigiri sushi.

Hashiya Omakase Set (about $55, 5 stars for melt-in-mouth fresh nigiri)

Hashiya opened up about a month ago in downtown Danville, in the same shopping plaza as Trader Joe's and The Melt. The wife and I came for Friday lunch to test their offerings. Despite being a pretty small cafe (seats 30), the menu is sizable with sushi, sashimi, ramen, and make-your-own bento boxes. The food was outstanding and we are confident our 6yo will enjoy the food of we bring him here. Previously Kinja Sushi is top favorite, but Hashiya is just as good and better in some ways. I went for the $55 Omakase - a maki roll of your choice (I like Hamachi) and 12 pieces of nigiri with melt-in-your mouth fish and perfectly seasoned and loosely-packed rice. The type that disintegrates upon the first bite. They offered both pickled and dry wasabi. 5 stars - definitely one of the better nigiri combos in the area. Wife made a bento box of teriyaki salmon and short rib. We both enjoyed the salmon but the short ribs were next level. She ate all of it. No red meat for me since I was dealing with gout at the time. Note that you can request sushi rice instead of regular steamed rice, which is great for our son. Definitely look forward to coming back. At first I thought Danville and San Ramon had way too many Japanese restaurants. I think Hashiya will do very well with the excellent food, location, and plentiful parking.

Kid/Signature Poke Don ($15.45) w/ Spicy Sesame Sauce

The closest I can get to a poke bowl in Danville, finally! Hashiya offers tons of options, from sushi to ramen and udon, so there's something for everyone. Fish quality here is super fresh, and I look forward to coming back to try more items. Their poke donburi allows you to select your proteins, toppings and one sauce, which is pretty much what you'd get anywhere else except you're not watching them make it down a line like other shops. Also a kids signature donburi gets you 3 proteins, so I'm not sure the difference between this and a regular portion, but it is comfortably filling. 1 sauce option is not enough though. Please open the donburi up to select to 2 sauces! RECS: + Kids hamachi poke donburi ($15.45) was delicious as a yellowtail lover! So buttery soft + Kids signature poke donburi ($15.45) was perfect with 3 proteins! I chose salmon and yellowtail, and I was especially blown away by the yellowtail quality + Truffle ponzu sauce on poke donburi added good flavor, there just needs to be more of it to coat the fish better + Unagi avo roll ($8.45) hit all the marks + California roll ($7.45) was simple and good PASS: + Spicy sesame sauce on poke donburi. It didn't taste much like sesame but it did have a nice kick to it. It felt more like a spicy unagi sauce than anything else and lacked some umami to balance. I would probably try the truffle ponzu sauce next time

Amazing quality fish, nice ambience and friendly service. The 12 piece omakase is on par if not better than places like Maruyama, Daigo, Hakashi and half the price. Definitely worth a visit

Delicious food and service was friendly and helpful. There's a lot of sushi choices to pick from. The place is clean. Definitely a 10/10 experience! Would visit again for sure.

We visited this new sushi spot yesterday and heard it was only their fifth day open. We came in and we ordered the Toro Roll, Wagyu roll, and a Spider Roll. All three rolls were quite unique in their own way. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, the portions were generous, and the fish tasted very fresh. The interior is simple but has a nice, cozy vibe, and everything felt clean. Overall, we had a really nice dining experience. We'll definitely be coming back again.

Holy. Cow. How is this the first time I'm trying this sushi place?? It's right across the street! By far the best sushi I've had in town in a long time. This will now be my go to spot for sushi.

The service is wonderful, the amount you get in the bowl is perfect, the fish is so tender it just melts in your mouth. Everything was perfect about this bowl. Ordered online & seamlessly picked up and paid in the store- the even took into account the little order note I asked for sauce on the side. They got my order 100% correct! Such a lovely place my family and I will be back

Tried this place and honestly impressed from the first bite. The sushi was super fresh -- you can really taste the quality of the fish. The nigiri had that perfect balance of soft rice and melt-in-your-mouth texture, especially the salmon and tuna. The uni and ikura combo was also a standout, very rich and clean flavor. Presentation was beautiful too, everything looked carefully prepared, not just thrown together. I also ordered a baked/scallop-style dish (the one with sauce on top) and it was creamy, flavorful, and a nice contrast to the raw items. Service was smooth and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, great spot if you're craving quality sushi. Definitely coming back to try more.

They are located on the second level of the center and there was plenty of seating. My friend and her boyfriend and I were seated right away with the kind waitress. Looking at the menu, I know I had to try their signature ramen as well as a delicious appetizer. Chicken Karaage: This was delicious and crispy. The chicken was also moist and the Mayo sauce was good. I really enjoyed how the chicken was not oily at all and it was packed with flavor. This was a delicious starter. Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen: This is their signature ramen. It is a pork broth ramen filled with thinner noodles, an egg, bamboo, mushrooms, scallions and some truffle oil of sort, and not to mention two pieces of pork. Overall, this was a delicious broth. The soup was not too salty for me and the flavor was divine. The noodles were a bit thin for my liking, but still good. My only gripe was that once the broth settles and you eat most of everything, I cannot sip my broth due to the grainy texture I get at the end. Overall, I had a good time here with my friend and her boyfriend. I see myself coming back here again.

I was in heaven and ate them all. After I finished my croquettes, I waited for my ramen. Took about 40 minutes for it to come out. By the time it came out, I was underwhelmed by the presentation. A lot of ramen places take pride in presentation but Fujiwara called it a day and sent it out. I was skeptical until I took my first bite. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very good and not heavily seasoned with salt. I enjoyed it. Will definitely come back.

I wish they had clarified that beforehand, because I would've chosen a different dish. Flavor-wise, everything leaned much sweeter than expected. The galbi-jjim in particular was quite sweet, and even the kimchi had a noticeable sweetness that was more than I was used to at other Korean restaurants.
