Such excellent food and service. Best sushi I've ever had in California by far. Very nice restaurant, and the employees & owners are so kind. I love you Kana Sushi.

3.5/5 Went in hoping for a quick sushi lunch but unfortunately ended up waiting a long time to even place our order. There were only 2 staff on the floor, with one doubling as the main sushi chef. However, the fish quality was the saving grace here, as the nigiri, sashimi, and hamachi lovers roll were very fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the kaki fry (fried oysters) which was surprisingly tasty! Would probably come back to give this place another chance.

I consider this a dive bar sushi joint. Skill, taste, quality, etc... is a dive bar style... you're here to get drunk and go home or rather get thick slices of fish and drink enough to not know the difference. Glad I did not get sick after eating here... Salmon skin hand roll(not even crispy or enticing) scallops (poor texture) ... blah blah blah....

Pleasantly surprised. Definitely don't just be a book by its cover - you may have an underwhelming expectation when you see the place from the outside. We wanted to try a new quality sushi spot. We were looking for a more wholesome ambience, not so much the light and glitter you would expect in downtown Walnut Creek restaurants. We enjoyed the food, quality is good and quantity is plentiful. We had the beef teriyaki bento and the chirashi. Will be returning in the future to check out the other food they have in the menu.

Good hole in the wall mom and pop kind of place. The service was great. She was friendly and explained things on the menu. Miso soup was an instant basic kind. Rolls were really tasty. Beer on tap was good. Would return.

This was our first time here. We will be back for sure. My girlfriend and I normally go to House of Sake for lunch. Today was a Saturday- so they weren't open, so we were about to settle for Chinese food when a neighbor suggested Kana. She said we would love it. She said they have great food at a good price. She was spot on. There was plenty of parking in the lot when we arrived. We were concerned there might not be, but we were in luck. The staff was very friendly. We were greeted immediately upon entering. Even the gentleman making the sushi took time to look up and greet us. They seemed to be busy with take away orders. We saw the same delivery guy in there at least 5 times while we enjoyed our leisurely lunch. We ordered a glass of Chardonnay each to start. My friend is all about her Chardonnay. Next time, I would skip it here. Not sure who they were serving- but we both agreed- we didn't care for it at all. We also didn't like the wine glasses. Reminded us of going to grandma's house. Honestly, this was the only thing we didn't like here. The food was amazing. Looking forward to bringing my hubby here. I've showed him the menu already- he's picked a few rolls to start. My friend had the lunch bento with the chicken teriyaki and the shrimp tempura. She kept raving about it. She took the chicken home to have for dinner. We already scheduled a date to come back together next week. I also did the lunch bento and ordered the eggplant tofu and the California roll. This was the best eggplant dish I've ever had. My friend and I travel for work. So we are often in other countries that specialize in eggplant and tofu- this is high praise to say this was the best. Can't wait to get this dish again. We called our friend in the drive home to tell her how amazing her recommendation was. House of Sake wins for convenience- we can walk across the street, not deal with parking. We line their wine better. They have a great crab cucumber salad. So now we have 2 favorites

Great service, great food, and a great spot for kids. The owners are so wonderful, the meal is always good, and we've never had to wait.

Tucked away in Walnut Creek, this is the perfect intimate, casual sushi spot for a relaxed date night or dinner with friends. The welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and fresh ingredients made for an outstanding dining experience. We started with the shrimp and vegetable tempura, which arrived hot, crispy, and perfectly light without feeling greasy. It was the ideal appetizer to share. For our rolls, we ordered the Volcano Roll, featuring spicy tuna and shrimp tempura, and the Arizona Roll, made with crab and topped with seared albacore. Both were beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The freshness of the fish was the star of the meal. The seared albacore on the Arizona Roll practically melted in your mouth, and every bite had a clean, fresh taste that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The Volcano Roll delivered a delicious combination of textures and flavors, with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Nothing was overpowering--you could truly taste the freshness of the fish and the care that went into each roll. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout our visit. Service was prompt without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy the meal at a comfortable pace. Fresh fish, crispy tempura, creative rolls, and exceptional hospitality make this a standout sushi destination in Walnut Creek. The only downside? Once you finish your last piece, you'll wish you had ordered more. We enjoyed our experience so much that we're already looking forward to coming back to try the omakase, which will definitely be on our next order.

I especially loved their salmon in each of the bowls. It tasted nice and fatty and creamy. I loved the other fish as well though! I also felt that they did their tamago very well. Typically when I get tamago I feel like other restaurants don't get the texture correct and it can come out overcooked/rubbery so I don't end up finishing it. The tamago here was the perfect texture and the flavor/sauce made it really delicious. The texture of the rice in each bowl was great as well. They don't really serve the classic sushi rolls we were expecting. We mainly went because my daughter really wanted sushi, but unfortunately she didn't like the options they had and barely ate anything. I also found the portions on the small side. The prices themselves weren't unreasonable, but they felt a bit high for the amount of food you get. That said, I personally enjoyed what I ordered. It just wasn't the kind of sushi experience I was expecting. I guess this visit taught us that next time we'll check the menu first instead of choosing a sushi place based only on the ratings.

Parking was a bit tricky as they had some sort of event and a lot of the streets were closed off so I had to drive around a bunch of times. Luckily I came earlier than my reservation time. It was pretty nice weather out so I opted for a table outside but the ambiance is nice inside. Dim setting if you want to sit inside. I ordered a spicy pineapple margarita for my drink but it tasted like it didn't have any alcohol in it so that was a bummer so I didn't really want to order any other drink. I ordered the spicy edamame for appetizer, but it wasn't spicy and lacked a little in flavor/seasoning. I still ate it as I needed some sort of vegetables. For my food, I ordered my favorite salmon melt! This is a must order when you come. Always a hit! (I dipped my edamame in the sauce and it added great flavor to it lol) They had a Mother's Day special for handrolls and I was tempted to try it but didn't want to be super full, so I got two nigiri's instead; one hamachi and one spicy scallop. Both were so good! I would definitely order it again. Hamachi was fresh and soft. Easy to chew. Spicy scallop was made with a spicy mayo and cut up into pieces. Both were really good portion sizes. I was full but wanted to order more cause they were so good. I was offered the dessert menu but I was full so I didn't order any. Love coming to Sasa. Great service, great food and nice restaurant. Looking at Yelp, this was the one within walking distance which I presumed he was referring to. I ordered online, so I was able to quickly grab my meal and head back to my work location to eat inside. Inari Nigiri: I always enjoy me an Inari, and this location was pretty good. A big piece of tofu skin and a fair amount of rice complemented each other well. My only critique is I wished it was a bit more "vingeary" like flavor. I know I tasted the sauce there, but I wish it was a tab bit more noticeable. Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura Lunch Combo: This is so much food for a lunch combo. I honestly was able to make two servings out of this. The edamame beans are a nice appetizer to start and the salad had a very delicious dressing. The teriyaki chicken was as expected and the sauce was not overtly sweet. The tempura was also fried to crispy perfection for me and they gave you ample amount of vegetables and two pieces of ebi shirmp. Overall, I had a good time here and I would love to come back again.
