Re: Miller's Home Comfort 367 Northumberland Hwy…read more Callao, VA 22435 804-529-7838 Miller's Home Comfort in Callao, VA did the water plumbing work on my new home in Heathsville, VA in March of 2024, connecting the water line from the house to the Virginia American Water box out near the road. I moved into my house on 4/20/24. I noticed my water bill from American Water for 3/2/25-4/29/25 had gone from $19.27 (which is normal) to $35.86 but didn't really think too much about it because I had just had major surgery on April 7 and had people staying with me and people coming to the house for therapy, etc., and thought maybe it was from that. On May 25, my neighbor was down for the holiday to mow his grass and came to the door and told me I had a leak. The water was streaming from the water box at the road to the culvert gully. I called American Water who sent someone out very quickly that day. He showed me that the metal piece at the end of the line coming from the house was separated from the American Water part it was supposed to be attached to and was cracked. The water man looked at me with some amazement and said, "this is new" and asked who had done the plumbing from the house to their hookup. He said, "This should be under warranty for a year, I would have them come out and fix it." Of course, it was a holiday weekend, and no one was in the office. I left a message with an AI answering machine that told me a technician would be sent. The weekend went by, and not only did I not get a call or a technician, the water flowed on. On Tuesday morning, 5/27, the office called to say that Miller's work is only guaranteed for 30 days and that they would not make an exception. Thirty Days!!!! If I had known no one was going to come, I would have tried to get someone else out. Meanwhile the water flowed on over 2 more days. I called someone else after my phone call with them who sent someone within the hour. He found that the metal female adapter that screws into the Virginia Water piece had split lengthwise and separated from the American Water connection, as had their technician. He said he didn't know if someone had perhaps tightened it too much, but he showed me the piece split vertically up the center. He then cut out the fitting, replaced it, tested it, and refilled the hole. I have received a bill for the work done for $420.90. I also just received my water bill for 4/30/25-5/29/25 for $81.04, quite a bit more than $19. I appealed in writing to the company that I felt this was not right and to please do something to help me. I got no response. Therefore, I would not recommend them to anyone and feel people should know about my experience. Thank you. Deborah W. Sears 129 Hampton Place Heathsville, VA 22473 804-220-2549 804-580-4429

Joined the preventive maintenance program to take care of our HVAC equipment. First time checking…read moreequipment they found a weak capacitor and replaced it. Was billed as if they were called out which was over $200 and they were already here on site. Second time new tech and they checked equipment and gave me a report but I could not read it because it was only pictures and asked for a different format similar to the one I got the first time but that did not happen. Third we started to have issues with one HVAC system and they determined that a sensor was bad. They gave a very high charge for the repair and because of time I agreed to having the repair but it did not fix the problem and for a cost of $610 for only 20 minutes of work I felt I was being robbed. They did reduce the bill by $200 but I still had a failing system. They came out again and then determined three other item needed to be replaced and I discovered they were charging me twice for the same work. I asked for an estimate to replace the unit and they sent a sales person to provide that. The cheapest system they gave was around $14,000 and I did some price checking and got a larger unit than I had at a price under $9000. They do a lot of advertising and that concerns me that there business is not as good as it should be. They do all there pricing on a Flat Rate scale and that is usually higher than others. Also using the Flat Rate scale allows them to charge twice for the same work. Last they don't seem to stand by there work. They told me for the last suggested repair they were not sure that it would not fix the problem.

I wanted to share my experience following a service visit on Monday, July 6th. The technician who…read morecame to our home was professional, thorough, and took the time to properly inspect and test our HVAC system. Based on his evaluation, he stated that the unit itself appears to be operating properly. However, what he told me afterward was very concerning. He explained that, because of the design and layout of our home, I should never have been sold this particular system if the expectation was for it to adequately cool both levels of the house. In his professional opinion, the current system will never perform the way I was led to believe it would, and the proper solution would be to install a second unit in the attic. That raises a serious question: if this system was never capable of adequately cooling our home, why was it recommended and sold to us in the first place? We made a significant investment based on the expectation that the system being recommended by the professionals would be appropriate for our home and provide adequate comfort throughout both levels. I do not believe this is a situation where we should be expected to simply accept the outcome or compromise on something that was misrepresented from the start. We relied on your expertise, and the responsibility for correcting this issue should not fall on us. At this point, I am disappointed and concerned that we were sold a system that was never properly suited for our home. This issue was not caused by us, and I expect the company to take responsibility and make it right. I will be happy to update this review based on how the situation is handled moving forward.
