I can recall…read moreevery experience that I have ever had dealing with private sellers and motorcycle dealerships over the years, and on the whole, I have found the private sector to be far less exasperating. Until today. I had been searching for a well maintained, low mileage, later model Honda 919 for the better part of a couple of years to retire my beloved but ageing 750 Nighthawk. I checked Craigslist at least every other day throughout this period, and was disappointed to find that examples of the model were becoming as scarce as hen's teeth, not only nationwide, but particularly on the local front. Having located a rare potential candidate being offered by a private party about an hour away in San Antonio ("In perfect condition, excellent shape"), I took advantage of the chance to investigate at my earliest opportunity. As has happened on numerous occasions in the past, I found the description of the bike advertised falling far short of reality... the right side of the tank was badly dented and patched, with plenty of scrapes on both frame and motor indicating at least one nasty low-side crash, with a diverse array of aftermarket parts used to minimize the apparent damage. I had also been following an ad for an identical bike posted by a place called Extreme Motorsports, and since it was located not far from the private seller's residence, I decided (out of desperation and scarcity) that I would try to overcome my long held prejudice and at least check the place out. What a pleasant surprise! Not only was the bike a much better candidate than I had previously uncovered in my two year search, the owners and staff , to a man, were among the best that I have encountered in any vehicular retail setting. I found that every person I met was pleasant, informative, helpful, respectful, and professional... though not to the extreme of being off-putting. Indeed, that was perhaps the most enjoyable aspect about the whole experience. This jovial group acts like a band of brothers who love their work, and their enthusiasm and camaraderie will put you at ease and make you feel like one of the family. My sincere thanks to all that I met, and to Dave and James in particular, the owners from whom I suspect all this motorcycle nirvana flows. You have provided me with an exceptional bike at an exceptional price, and perhaps most surprisingly, an exceptional experience!

I reached out immediately, explained the situation honestly, and asked if they would work with me in any reasonable way. They did absolutely nothing. No flexibility, no empathy, no attempt to help a recent customer who had barely put time on the bike. They wouldn't buy it back, wouldn't offer a trade, and wouldn't even consider taking it at half of what I paid, despite it essentially being a new bike. I understand businesses aren't charities -- but good dealerships stand behind their customers, especially when circumstances are out of their control and the purchase was brand new. This place showed zero interest in maintaining a relationship once the sale was done. If you're looking for a dealership that values long-term customers or basic human decency, look elsewhere. I didn't buy my bike here, but there were a couple bikes on the lot that looked tempting. The store inside wasn't organized by very well for self-service, but most shops aren't. I'm sure they know where everything is if you just asked. Staff was chatting at the service desk. I was asked if I needed anything. They didn't have the brake fluid I prefer (Bel Rey or ATE), but Castrol DOT4 will do in a pinch, and she had it from the backroom in no time at all. Staff seemed welcoming and friendly. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Large selection of Drag Speciality bolt-ons in stock. Took a quick look at their shop pricing. I wrench on my own, but their prices were reasonable if you don't. You would expect a…read morebusiness called The Motorcycle Shop to cater to motorcycle riders, but it's more of a Vespa and scooter shop from the looks of the outside. Indeed, from other reviews, it appears their focus is on scooters. However, one desperate weekend, I was changing brake pads on my bike only to release I had the wrong part for my rear brake. This was, as is my modus operandi, a realization I had only after disassembling the caliper. Now, I've known of the The Motorcycle Shop from my daily commute but never been inside it. In a moment of desperation, I called them up and asked if they had the correct brakepad in stock. They, in fact, did. I asked them to hold the part for me and raced over there. Looks can be deceiving. The shop is larger inside than it looks from the outside and they sell various new and used motorcycles as well as scooters. I don't buy new so I can't speak on their pricing for bikes. There was a substantial wait at the parts counter. Lots of jib jabbing of the salesman variety. In all honestly, if I hadn't needed the part, I would have walked out and found one elsewhere. Eventually, a salesman noticed I was milling about and interrupted the man at the parts counter so I could pick up what I came for. They sell a fair amount of bolt on accessories, helmets, jackets, and the like. Nothing to write home about. They have mechanics on site, but I did not deal with them. If you're into scooters, this is probably your spot. If you are looking for a shop or to buy a motorcycle, well maybe. There are other motorcycle garages nearby with better reputations. The store was decent and the staff was friendly based on my interactions.
