I really enjoyed my visit to Road Runner. My service associate was knowledgeable and super helpful in tending to my running woes. I'm currently training for the Chicago marathon (T-11 days now), and I had some issues with a numb right toe and aching arches by the end of my long runs. Before we got started, I was asked to run barefoot on the treadmill and determine how my foot was landing. I was given several options including brands like Brooks, Hoka, and Asics after my foot and gait analysis. I ended up signing up for the membership as the employee and a random customer recommended it. In the end, I must've saved around $40 with my school discount as well. After purchasing my Arahi's and sole inserts, I feel like I've had less issues with my feet. I think Road Runners gave me motivation to finish the training block. Came in for their grand opening weekend. My boyfriend and I have been to their Naperville location many times. Compared to the Naperville location, the shoe selection seemed less. Benjamin was the sales associate who helped us. He even recognized us from shopping at the other location, so we appreciated that service. He measured my foot again and recommended shoes for my type of walking style. Checkout was a little slow. I'm not sure if it was just because of the opening weekend. Road Runner Sports is one of the best shops for runners. They continually provide the best selection of in-stock running shoes of any store. Their shop brand clothes are well made and durable. I don't own any other brand of running sock. I've been a rewards member for 16 years for a reason. I was really glad the Downers Grove location opened, as it is much closer to me than other stores. Aaron took care of me, knowing all the key info about cushion, stability, weight, and drop height of every shoe to help guide me. I echo the high ratings for Benjamin; while I know how retail chains push upselling stuff, I think I have a good feel for what's a legit need/improvement and what's an extra "nice to have". (I went with the insoles, was already fine with good socks) The guy knows his stuff and seemingly all the shoe model intricacies. Brought my daughter in at a later date and she got appropriately fitted as well. Good selection, including running clothes. I am surprised they didn't have any Adidas, which was traditionally the brand I've purchased the most. But it's a really good store, well-run with very competent people. read more

I paid for the membership plan during my first visit to the Downers Grove, IL store on March 2, 2023. I was told that they would send an email before the renewal date a year later. They did NOT send an email. So when I was awakened by a text from my bank at 7 am on Sunday, Feb 18, 2024, asking if I authorized a payment of $99.99, I replied NO. My card was then deactivated. I had taken a friend to buy shoes using my membership benefits on Jan 26, 2024. The store employees stressed that friends and family would be able to use the benefits. However, when I denied the charge on Feb 18, Road Runner charged the membership renewal to my friend's credit card!! THAT IS FRAUD, IS IT NOT?? After several calls to Customer Service, today March 7, 2024, Brian told me that he could take my membership off of Auto Renewal. I agreed to that, but he would not send me an email confirming that. I had not been fitted for running shoes in over 10 years but in preparation for a 5K my brother recommended this place. The sales associate Patrick was so awesome! Just stopped by for some socks after buying some shoes from their online store. Aaron was super helpful. I've never had a bad experience at roadrunner and I love their 90 day worry free return policy on all of their stuff. I can buy shoes, run with them and if they don't feel good, I can bring them in to get something else. I can't recommend them enough. Try this store out in Downers Grove. I went in to buy a pair of Hoka shoes after doing a lot or research online. Loved the reviews and the color. When I walked in them at the store they didn't feel all that great. Patrick, who helped me, told me to walk a straight line to the end of the store and when I did, he said he didn't think those were the right shoes for me. He had several suggestions, and I finally settled on a pair of Asics- Gel Nimbus 25, the first shoe he suggested. The difference in the Asics and Hokas were like night and day for me. I've been wearing them and they are like walking on a cloud, and my gait feels right. Patrick could not have been more helpful, and knows his "stuff" inside and out. Not only that, but the store closed at 7:00 on a Saturday night and I was there until 7:20. There were a few other customers looking around because of the sale they had going on. Patrick was so patient and helpful and I can't say enough good things about him. And Benjamin, who was also working, was very nice. Kudos to Road Runner Sports!.All the reviews I read about this store in Downers Grove were spot on. It was clean, organized, and the shoe selection was great. My husband and I always shop at Road Runner for our running shoes. We've never had a bad experience at any of their locations but since Downers Grove opened have been there 3 or 4 times. We came in today to get our two girls (14 and 11) fit for shoes for the Track Season, and not only did they get a real education and experience but my wife and I did too and we ALL left with new pairs of shoes and custom made insoles!
