I found some nice items but will never support this business again. On Sept. 21, I consigned 8 dresses including a St. John, a skirt, a jacket and a new Kate Spade bag still with tags. I was initially unsure about consigning the bag, but Angie said she was really interested/they really wanted it and I thought why not. I like to support small business. A few days later, I realized I hadn't received a copy of the contract I signed. I called and there was more than two weeks of back-and-forth: Angie would look it up and call me back, she sent it, maybe she sent to the wrong email address, etc. On Oct. 10, I finally received a screen shot of my items and the consignment prices with the contract date 9/21/24 and expiration date 11/21/24 No attachment or contract. I didn't worry much about it, and in hindsight I was too trusting. In December, I remembered the consignment. Every other consignment shop I've worked with either has an online portal to check your items/contract or has provided a courtesy call/reminder to pick up before items are donated. Clearly it was on me to remember and pick up when the contract expired. Not that I had or ever received a copy of a contract with their terms. I'm just stating what I'm used to. I don't live in the area. I drove up on a day off during their stated business hours; a sign on the door said they were closed. Went back a few days later, found them open and I arranged with Angie to come back on Jan. 24 to pick up my items. I saw several of my items on the floor and commented on it to Angie; I should have grabbed them at that point. I then had a medical issue requiring daily doctor's visits; one was scheduled for my pick-up day/time. I called and left a message that I couldn't come in 1/24 and needed to reschedule. Angie left a voice mail the next day that she had an opening the following Wednesday, if I recall. I called back and left a message that my work schedule didn't allow me to come in; requested a call back. After another round of phone tag, I emailed Feb. 2 with some open dates and times, explaining my tricky schedule with work and doctor's visits. No response. I got busy with work, family and the ongoing medical issues. Granted, again, I recognize it was on me that I didn't continue following up after the contract date (again, not that I ever received a contract) had passed. I assumed it was clear from my multiple contacts I wanted to pick up my items, and that I would get a response to my last call and email. I finally called and reached Angie on March 27. She said she was busy with customers and would call me back. She called back and told me that a few items had sold and I'd get just under $50; everything else had been donated. I told her I was angry at the lack of response when I had tried scheduling pick-up and the utter lack of customer service throughout this experience. She apologized as though she was reading a script; I felt as if she couldn't care less. She told me I'd receive my check in 5-10 business days. Needless to say, it's now April 18, no check and I'm not holding my breath or surprised. I should have heeded the prior reviewers mentioning their poor and similar experience. 5 stars. The poor reviews and experiences are very shocking to read because I've only had pleasant experiences with this shop and its owner over the years. I began shopping & consigning here over ten years ago. I found the experience to be convenient and extremely helpful. Catrina has great style and can find pieces that will complement your shape and aesthetic. Some of my favorite pieces were amazing finds from this shop. My fur was a GREAT deal! Several purses and accessories. Dresses and special occasion wear, too. I will say that she is very selective when selecting piece to consign and I appreciate that. I prefer to shop high quality items versus a high quantity of items. I appreciate that she will try and sell items on eBay as well as in the store to increase the odds of sale. She's always been great about supporting community efforts and has a philanthropic spirit around certain causes. If you didn't have a pleasant encounter with this store, I encourage you to return and share what wasn't to your liking. An honest conversation and an open heart can make a huge difference. I thought this would be a good fit for selling my clothes! she came to my home to pick up the pieces which was really convenient, but then after that complete crickets! I had to reach out several times to excuse after excuse as to why my items were still sitting in a warehouse. When she finally provided me with sales info (more than a year and a half later) she stiffed me on complete payment. After 3.5 years of getting the runaround, I had to file a small claims case to get her to do anything! I would not recommend this shop to anyone! There are other consignment shops that give you better splits on items and communicate with their customers with transparency! The biggest thumbs down! read more

When I visited the shop to drop off my items, the women that took my items was rude and acted like I was bothering her. She was definitely not a people person. I called a couple of times during the contract period to see if any of my items sold and again, the woman the I spoke with was rude and argumentative. She asked me to spell my last name and when I corrected her she was insulting and short with me. I called 2 weeks ago when my contract was up and the woman that I spoke with said that she was the owner. She was pleasant and said that she would send me a check immediately for the items that were sold and actually extend my contract for a month since many of my items were like new and from popular designers. I haven't receive the money due to me and I don't feel that I was treated in a professional manner by most of the staff . I guess that I will stop in the store for my check and just chalk it up as a very bad experience. read more

Extremely disappointing customer service during COVID-19. I dropped off items prior to the state shut down and never received communication after repeated emails inquiring on contract term realities during this time. Fast forward to last week, they (Kathy) called to ask if I had Fall items to consign - but did not have information on my previous Spring consign or emails. Fast forward to today, they (Kathy) called me telling me the items I previously consigned would be donated tomorrow morning? No notice, no flexibility, no recollection of the conversation we had last week and seemingly zero awareness of customer service. I understand we are living in dysfunctional times, but really disappointing experience. read more

Great place to shop for high quality gently used items at reasonable prices. Every time I go there I find something as there is a wide variety of items in a range of sizes. Shop is updated regularly, and you can also get fairly priced alterations on items either purchased at the store or purchased elsewhere. Friendly and helpful staff. I left items at this store at the end of December and have been waiting for either payment or a notification to pick up my clothing. I have sent multiple emails and was not even given the courtesy of a reply stating whether or not my items were sold. She also had an item from 2017 that I was never told whether it's sold or she donated it. I should have learned my lesson after that. I am graduating with a degree in Education in May, and I am looking to get my teaching wardrobe together. The Ladies Room was the perfect place to look! Conveniently located and accessible hours, I stopped there on my way home from school. The owner, Catrina, was there and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. She even pulled things from the back that fit my needs, size, and preferences. When she found me the PERFECT pair of brown pants that fit me to a tee, she said she'd note that fit for the next time I come in. She was extremely patient with me even after I tried on a million things, and she even brought me other things she found as she was organizing the store that she thought I'd like. I also have been looking for a new coat all winter and found a beautiful Guess pea coat for a steal! The owner was very nice, asked me if I was looking for anything special, showed me several items she thought I might like but was not pushy. For a consignment shop the prices were very reasonable. If you are thinking about doing business with this store - DON'T DO IT! This is my first time trying to consign clothing. Preparing for an out of state move, I took the time to clean and press my clothing. I brought in the maximum items on three separate occasions (clothing, shoes, and purses). Each time, I paid the required $15 consignment fee. I never received an itemized listing of anything. The expiration dates on my things were 7/17/22, 7/27/22, and 10/1/22. Since I was already out of state at this point, I let them know they could donate any unsold items. I have called five times, and each time, was told that Catrina would Zelle me my money. My last call was on Oct. 13. I spoke with Kathy, and was told the owner was out of town. She called me back later in the day, stating that the owner would send my proceeds by the next day. It is now five days later, and of course I have heard nothing. At this point I think my only recourse is to contact the Better Business Bureau. read more

I had a coach purse and a Michael Kors purse there for sale and when the contract ran out I called and we had decided for me to keep it there for a couple more months and then I called again and we decided to keep it there for a couple more months and she was going to sell it on eBay and we talked about going down like $20 I wasn't going to go any lower than that because I paid a lot of money for these purses and I decided to pick them up today because I was in the neighborhood and they still hadn't sold as far as I knew and when I got there she told me they sold on eBay one for like $39 and one for $51 that's not the price that I said I would go to ,it was much lower that she sold them for without even consulting me. I'm not happy at all with my experience! I've sold things there before and it was a good experience I don't know what happened here but I'm not happy I feel like I got ripped off I would've given them away first to somebody I knew. I don't often write reviews; however, my experience with The Ladies Room was beyond horrible!! The entire process, from the time I attempted to contact the store, all the way to the point I finally received most all of my items back and was paid for the few items sold was a complete mess!! I originally emailed and left messages for the owner/store and none of them were ever returned. When I called for the third time I happen to get the owner who said I could come in the next day after a certain time with my items. When I arrived, the person woking the front area was very rude and finally asked the owner to come out from the back. She was very pleasant and they went thru my I items and weeding out the items they wouldn't take. I was told I would receive an itemized inventory of my items and the price they would be listed at, 2 weeks later I called because I never received it. This store claims to list items on their website, eBay, and an Etsy store. I checked all three of these sites often in the months they had my items and I can say I never once saw any of my items listed on any of these sites. I realized not everything I bought to the store was what they consider "Designer"; however, I did have several higher end items. Fast forward to approximately 2 weeks before my contract was set to expire I attempted to contact the store, no response until finally I phoned and the owner happen to answer, I told her my contract was up the following Monday and that I would like to come and pick up any unsold items. She indicated that they would be ready by the middle of that week. I went to the store on the day and time I was told, the person working knew nothing about my coming and none of my items has been gathered together. So for the next hour I walked around the store and collected my items myself. There were several items that were missing and I was told that they were probably at the new store location that they were opening down the street. The lady contacted the owner and she said that she would gather the rest and call me when they were ready to pickup. No one ever called. I finally got ahold of someone who said they would be ready the next week. I went a day after I was told they would be ready and, of course, nothing was collected or ready for me. I proceeded to attempt to pick up my missing items and made 6 trips to this store. In the end on the 7th trip I finally was given the money for the last 3 missing items. This store and it's owner/staff are extremely disorganized and unprofessional. read more

I have dealt with this store many times in the past with just a few small problems, altho not for 2-3 years. However, this last couple of weeks has left me feeling like I need to tell people not to do business here. At least two weeks ago, I emailed a detailed message asking when I might bring in some clothes and describing each item. At least a week passed, and I received no response. I then called and left another detailed message informing them of my email and that I wanted to come in, and, once again, no response. After another week I called again and spoke to Annie, I believe. She told me I could bring in 13 items any time during the day Tues-Fri. So this past Tuesday I brought them in. And I honestly cannot remember ever being treated so rudely by a retail store owner. I don't know if she recognized me and doesn't like me for some reason, or if she has just turned into a horribly rude and nasty person. Without so much as coming within 10 feet the clothes, shoes, etc. I had lugged in, she rudely stated that what I had were 'fall' things. I was a bit dumbfounded, and tried to point out a majenta colored cocktail dress. 'That's the wrong color,' she said. 'We're not taking that color now.' Not one more word, like 'you can try again in the fall', or 'so sorry you had to bring these in for nothing,' or 'thanks for bringing them in.' Nothing. Back to her tagging work. I don't understand behavior like this. It is very demeaning and offensive, and I will tell anyone who is interested not to patronize this store. read more

I will never ask them to sell anything for me again. I figured I would give them a try. When I initially contacted them via phone to bring in my items, the owner was pleasant and welcoming. Upon arrival at the store a couple of days later, a member of her staff was not quite the same. She asked if I had an appointment and couldn't drop off anything without one. I shared with her that I only had a few things and the owner had advised me otherwise. I felt as though I was disturbing her 'flow" ---even though the store was empty when I got there and only 1 person came in the entire time I was there. She ultimately agreed to take my items and wrote up a contract. She didn't really explain much but I was able to ask questions. She did tell me that it would be a couple of days before I would know how much she would price the items. Well it took over 2 weeks and I had to contact them to find out. After a couple of emails, someone responded and indicated that they had tried to email me. Not sure if that really happened, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. After the end of the contract, I contacted the store to see if anything had sold and she patronizing stated 'awe, they didn't sell'. Upon arriving in the store, the owner was not personable and did not appear to concerned about providing insight on how I could possibly attract a buyer by lowering the price, etc. She just handed me my things and said 'here you are and I will take the off EBay as well', again patronizingly. EBay?? the contract never mentioned EBay -she never had them in the store, only online?? To be honest, I don't think the owner really tries to sell items that are not extremely high end. My experience with the owner and staff was not a very personable one. I would not recommend. read more

I had scheduled a 10:00 am appointment to bring in some winter clothes for consideration. I arrived a few minutes before hand, knocked on the door so I could lay down the armful of things I had brought. Young lady answered the door, said it was too early, even though it was 2 minutes before 10:00 am. Her boss was not there, might be back in a few minutes, didn't really know for sure. Didn't acknowledge I had a scheduled appointment either. I stated usually when appointments are scheduled a customer expects them to be kept. I decided not to wait....there are other resale shops or charitable organizations to benefit. p.s. When I originally called to schedule an appointment, I left a phone message for a callback. No one every called me back so I called a 2nd time and was told they never received a message from me, which I found rather strange. read more

I have posted this before but it disappeared from Yelp. I will try again . I will never trust The Ladies Room to sell my items again. They do not stick to their contract. My 12/13/12 contract with them reads "lowest bid price starting at $49 on eBay" for a leather purse (it was NWT, originally $110). I had decided while in the store that I did not want it offered there, as I did not think it would sell in that environment. The employee helping me said they would post it on eBay instead of displaying it in the store, and they would correspond with bidders and handle the shipping. That is what I contracted for. However, it was not on eBay 5 days later so I called and was told it was being displayed in the store at $49 because "their eBay team was busy posting other stuff". I asked when it would be on eBay and was told "sometime in the next 60 days" (the length of my contract). No one told me I'd have to wait for the eBay team to post it, and certainly not this long. On 1/14/13, it was still not on eBay, 1 month after I brought it to The Ladies Room, so I decided I would sell it myself and went to the store to get it back. I could not find it anywhere in the store. A different employee than the one that helped me in Dec. looked it up and said it had sold at $39.20-20% off of their original $49 asking price (the contract I signed said I agree to allow The Ladies Room to discount my items "to help move products"). The employee told me she didn't know when my purse sold, but then said they had offered 20% off of some items during Christmas week and it probably sold then. I don't know why they needed to discount something only one week after it was brought in. The contract also says they had until the end of the contract to notify me of the sale and send me a check, so it was not an issue that they hadn't told me of the sale yet. The employee wrote me a check for $15.68-my 40% of the $39.20 sale price. On a $110 purse. Two days later, I called the store to speak to the owner and question the fact that they did not follow the terms of the contract and post my purse on eBay. The owner (who answered the phone) told me she was the person that I dealt with in the store on 1/14/13, she was the one who wrote my check. She told me I got what I agreed to-40% of the sale price, and that I "didn't have control over where and how they sell my purse", tho the contract specifically says "lowest bid price starting at $49 on eBay". She insisted I got what I agreed to, tho I did not get what I agreed to, nor did I get what I contracted for. A minimum bid of $49 for an original, new with tags $110 purse on eBay would have probably resulted in a much higher sale. The owner insists they stuck to the contract, has told me that their customers don't have any say as to where and how The Ladies Room can display their items for sale, yet my contract with them specifically says "lowest bid price starting at $49 on eBay". She has only offered me an additional 40% of the 20% discount that they applied to the purse at the time of sale, less than $4 more. And this is after she had been served with my complaint through the Better Business Bureau. I will never trust The Ladies Room to sell my items again, and I urge you to be very careful when dealing with them. read more

Back in January, I dropped off two items for resale. Today I stopped back- just short of the two month mark to see if either had sold. The owner greeted me when I came in and asked if she could help me. I told her I was here to check if anything had sold and to look around a bit. She said ok, she had to boot up the computer. She went to the back and I walked around the store for about ten minutes or so but didnt see anything that I was interested in. She never came back. There was a young girl at the counter so I presented her with my ticket and asked if she could check if anything had sold. She was very sweet and brought my ticket to the back to ask the owner. The owner replied in a very loud and snotty voice- I think making sure I heard, "I know! I told her I was booting up the computer and was checking on it! At least I thought I told her that!" I'm sorry but how rude! The girl came back, obviously embarassed. Meanwhile I had found my two items in the shop and told the girl that since the two months were up (contract), she was welcome to donate them. The owner needs a good lesson in politeness and customer service. I don't know any computers that take longer than ten minutes to boot up and she didnt keep me informed of what was going on, how was I supposed to know? What an arrogant and ignorant store owner. I felt sorry for the young girl, I hope she finds a new job soon. It was horrible how the owner spoke to her. Personally, I would never set foot in this shop and I doubt they get enough traffic to sell much so I dont think it's a good place to try to sell your stuff. Incidentally, the first time I was in the store, there was an older woman who was working there with the owner. She asked why I hadnt been earlier and I said, oh, I dont know. I needed a dress for a graduation and I was running out of time. I had a tight budget and even less time to accomplish the task of finding a dress. After running around and unsuccessfully shopping at a few department stores, I remembered The Ladies Room in Lombard, which I had visited last winter. Well, with only minutes to spare, I walked in close to 5pm(closing time) and told Catrina what I needed. Within 20 minutes I had my dress and it was perfect, the price was great(under budget), and the customer service outrageously wonderful! Not only did Catrina find me the perfect dress, she happily stayed open after hours to do it! This kind of service with a smile just doesn't happen very often these days. My daughter had a hard time choosing between three. We had gone to Macy's, Bloomingdales, etc. and couldn't find a dress. Would never go here again. I dropped off my daughters homecoming and Prom dresses for sale. I told them I do not want them donated at the time I dropped them off. Near the time of contract I called several times to ask if the dresses had been sold never did I receive a call back. Finally, got through to someone and she was RUDE I went and picked up the money for the one dress that sold and and wanted to get the other dresses and they had all but the prom dress that she said that they donated. Continued to say it was 5 days past the contract date. In that case why wouldn't have all the dresses been donated?? Then she said that well maybe its in the back and she didn't have time to go look.
